Jordan Howard - Next Year

Recommended Posts

As I mentioned in another thread, he is undoubtedly the free agent RB pick up of the year, He is the real deal. Dominated on a crap team, with no QB......often playing from behind.

First rounder next season?

Has produced for sure. Points of concern: his HC, other RBs on team that they will give the ball to, average (at best) OL, and generally a weak team.

I can't see him going in the first, but we're 7 months away from a new season. I see him as a 3rd at best, maybe a 4 after a RB-WR-WR start, or something like that.

Wow this is a very good question.

In a ppr league I would say no.

In a non ppr league maybe.

I need to see what direction the Bears go with Fixing their Qb situation and even Wr postion.

Good Question thank you for the post.

Happy New Year.

You think they need to improve their WR? Jeffery had a (probably) down season, and Meredith seems solid. I think QB and maybe offensive line are the things that they could do to make me want Howard more.

Jeffery is a free agent and if Ryan Pace has any brains he will let him walk. Meredith is the franchise receiver for the Bears. Kevin White may a great #2 but that is completely up in the air. The Bears do need more receiver help, but not a lot. Braverman may be our Cole Beasley. A nice underneath slot guy. Plus Daniel Brown is intriguing at tight end.

Oh and the Bears interior line should be very good with Sitton, Whitehair, and Long when he comes back. I like that run blocking tandem a lot

If people sleep on him, I will be looking to grab him as my RB2......having RB1 upside, easy.

After he took over for Langford, in 12 games he averaged 92.5 yards on the ground and 25 receiving yards/game. 5+ ypc.

I just can't envision a scenario where the offense would be much worse than this year, so unless they bring in another RB, we gotta consider this years work as his floor....right?

He's the #9 RB in my standard scoring league. I don't see him falling past the second round.

Whether he lives up to that pick based on his situation is a different question.

I got him this year, off the WW.

Everyone did.

I expect him to be a 1st rounder by August. He'll be one that climbs as people think more and more about his production/opportunity. You could maybe get him as a RB2 if you draft mid summer, but I expect a RB overreaction much like the WR position last year. It'll be tough to get any value on guys coming off any kind of decent year.

He was a FA in every league I was in.

Then was picked in one league only to be dropped after his horrible back to back games.

Then after his break out game vs the Vikings he has been on the same team.

We play in ppr league that allows for a qb to play as a flex and allows for 1 keeper drafted in the 4th round or lower. My choices are:

Howard

Dak

Romo

Sanders

I am leaning towards Howard

With the year he put up as basically the only option on a bad bears team I'd be surprised if he makes it out of round 2 in redraft next year.

I don't see how Romo is even an option. I don't care what team he is on he isn't ranked ahead of Dak or Howard

I actually drafted him in both of my leagues. :dunno:

To expand, I usually try to find an RB flyer to draft near the end, and hold him to see if he blossoms. This year it was Howard in part because Langford was clearly JAG; last year David Johnson (I live in Phoenix so I knew he was talented from preseason). Alf Morris his rookie year was another that comes to mind. Doesn't always pan out but sometimes it does. :)

I dont know that I'd say hes a first rounder, but It wouldnt surprise me if he went in round 2 or 3. at the end of the day, RB's stats often mirror the teams performance as a whole. In this case, lots of teams were keying on Alshon and let the bears (who were playing from behind) run the ball all they want.

I think Alshon wont be there next year, and teams may key on him a little more.

Thats not to say I dont like the kid. I do.

I just dont think he's a first rounder.

I have no problem taking a top 5 back in the 2-3 rounds

I sincerely hope that you guys are right, but I have my doubts.

He would be steal in the 2nd and grand larceny in the 3rd.

A Johnson/Bell/Zeke and Howard combo would be sweet.

Would agree.

Very good 2nd round pick and great 3rd pick.

Agree. I don't see that value when the draft season rolls around. Sleepers and value in January rarely translates to August and September especially in a year that saw RBs carry a lot of teams. Most will look at the last year to create their template for the upcoming season.

RB Jordan Howard joins Barry Sanders & Clinton Portis as only rookie RBs in NFL history with 250+ rushing attempts & at least a 5.2 ypc average.

Today's game moved him into 19th most yards all-time for a rookie RB (ADP was #18).

-Peterson 238/1341/5.6

-Howards 252/1313/5.2

Unless something dramatically changes between now and next season, I am all in....so, he will probably slump.

Hard to disagree with you and his stats.

But a over all number one pick , isn't out of reach for him.

But I'm having a hard time writing him down on paper as my over all number one pick.

Hopefully I will wake up before next draft gets started.

As mentioned earlier, I'm praying to nab him as my RB2 if he'll fall to the 2nd.

I have Howard and Murray in a deep keeper and if I had to choose between them for next year (and I might based on our cap rules), I'm sticking with Howard over Murray. I honestly can't remember off the top of my head who the Bears QB has been the past few weeks yet Howard has produced.

Matt Barkley who I believe was responsible for 13 turnovers in the last 3 games.

I would also keep Howard over Murray.

Based on the fact that Henry is going to play a lot more next season.

Also the coaching staff will have an off-season to develop plays specifically for him, and for him to work on his receiving (which seems pretty good already).

Again I agree.

Season two is a big step up from what he learn in his first season.

Especially in the passing game.

I think Murray will be a little over rated going into next season.

I think Howard will be the Bears #1 over Langford, but if Langford could hurt Howard's numbers some if he stays healthy. Atlanta has done well with 2 back tandem in Freeman & Coleman. Having 2 good backs could help the Bears like the Falcons did. Howard definitely 2nd and if you get him in the 3rd, which I doubt, your league mates just handed you a big bonus.

The Bears only have one good back so they are going to have to find this 2nd good back that currently is not on the roster

I'm starting to lean this way myself. Murray had a really good season but I sort of think that's where he'll max out. Howard has a lot going for him considering the offense he's with. If Kevin White can come back and they can find a quarterback to make the defense respect the passing game even a little bit, Howard could be in for a strong second season. Also, the return of Kyle Long will help next year

I agree.

I'm really think that Henry will be given a bigger word load next season.

Howard as truly taken over as the over all number one Rb with the Bears.

Langford/Kerry are nothing more than a pure handcuff for J-Ho...there will be no competition in camp...Howard is the guy, because he is a better running back than either of those guys.
