Maulers1973 117 Posted July 21, 2017 I can't figure out where he should be ranked. My gut says he is either Top 10 or very close to it. Though, in Pitt, Brown and Bell are the 1st two options for the offense. So, while Bryant is super talented and has been impressive in the offseason, will he stay out of trouble and will it all translate into outstanding production on the football field week in and week out? Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 21, 2017 He isn't anywhere near that good. His hands are suspect. More of a straight line threat from what I have seen
Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 21, 2017 Top 10 in terms of what? Real NFL life WR? No Fantasy top 10 finish? Not likely
Maulers1973 117 Posted July 21, 2017 Hmmmm, maybe I should have posed it as could he be a top 10 FFL WR this year. I think he could if he stays out of trouble and plays the whole season.
Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 21, 2017 Maybe in a standard league if he posts crazy TD stats. I don't think he'll catch enough balls in a PPR. He caught 42 in college his junior year (61 in total in college) and 50 in 2015. Among both college, 61, and the NFL, 76, so far he only has 137 catches so far in his career. ROCKFORD 134 Posted July 21, 2017 while i agree on most of the above sentiments, his ceiling warrents attention. he is positioned to be one of those sleepers that blows up and wins your fantasy season for you. his mfl adp is currently 62. so, 6th round as your wr3. if he busts, he still prolly puts up serviceable #s and its a wash. i like this pick.
Smileseers 54 Posted July 22, 2017 Martavis has started in 8 games and played in only 21 games in his entire career during the regular seasons 2014-2015. He has had some nice playoff games for the Steelers, but we do not count them in ff stats usually. Regular season stats below: 2014 26 rec 549 yards 8 Tds, and targeted 48 times in 10 games played and 3 started. 2015 50 rec 765 yards 6 Tds, and targeted 92 times in 11 games played 5 started. 2016 Steelers would of lined Bryant up across from Antonio Brown and we'd seen the growth for a 3rd year Wr. 2017 Steelers will line Bryant up across from AB to start every game if healthy. Martavis takes the top of the defense off bringing respect from the safeties. This allows the running game to open up, and Antonio Brown to not be double teamed every play. I expect the Steelers to be top a offense this season. I think that it is likely that Martavis plays a full season and has a career year. Top 10 in fantasy possible, top 15 likely with overall stats. He will be a solid WR2 but a bit TD dependant. Not bad for a late fifth or early sixth round pick. I'd rather have him than many of the Wrs going before him. weepaws 2,460 Posted July 22, 2017 Personally I don't think the Steelers will be as good as most think. I noted the end of last season how Big Ben looked very uncomfortable last season and seemed to be rushing things. And then after the season he talked about retirement and not taken anymore hits. So I don't see this offence putting up ff points like most. 2014 Bryant in ten games he avg 13 ff points per game and that would have ranked him 24th in ppr and that's a wr3. 2015 he did indeed improve and in eleven games he did avg 15 ff points per game and that would have ranked him 19th a middle wr2. Right where I see him a low wr2 or a high wr3. But I'm very concern about if Ben will be what he once was this season, I don't think he will be.
BobSanders_33 127 Posted July 22, 2017 He has the chance to score as a WR1 for season long non-PPR. I'd look at Davante Adams as where he could end up. Adams was standard WR7 with 75/997/12. That would be around MB's ceiling.
DrG 94 Posted July 22, 2017 If he is starting he may give you Desean Jackson type stats. His floor and other issues create the risk but this is also a guy who can go off any time. Low floor high ceiling

Smileseers 54 Posted July 22, 2017 Too much risk for my liking. The war of words about Roethlisberger worries me too. Ben's words almost a year ago has had the impact of Bryant being clean and cleared to play this season. Ben's words then motivated Bryant to be ready for this season. Ben was disappointed in Bryant last summer. Ben has huge expectations of Martavis starting 16 games in 2017. More perceived risk than is true. What WRs will be taken later in the 5th round have a higher ceiling and less of a risk?
weepaws 2,460 Posted July 22, 2017 Crabtree, K Benjamin, W Snead.
Smileseers 54 Posted July 23, 2017 Crabtree, K Benjamin, W Snead. Crabtree is is going in the fourth round, K Benjamin early 5th. Snead will be drafted near Martavis but has a lower ceiling. None of the three has the talent of Martavis Bryant.
weepaws 2,460 Posted July 23, 2017 I disagree. I've seen some adp that have Crabtree going in the fifth round. And in a ppr league I like all three over Bryant. On the site ffc.com I see that Bryant is ranked ahead of all three I mention, and I think he should be behind all three. My own personal rankings I have him ranked behind the other three. ralphster 274 Posted July 23, 2017 Top tier measurables at 6'4" 210lbs running 4.42. High points well, catches back shoulder fades well. His weekly ceiling is Plax at his best, but his weekly floor is Brandon Coleman-esque. Should be featured in the redzone on a great offense. Excellent in a best ball format. Good buy in dynasty leagues. Streaky in other leagues; 19 one week, 5 the next. I kept him in 2 leagues and traded him away in another 2.
Hawkeye21 1,854 Posted July 23, 2017 He's going to need some teammates to get out of his way in order to have a shot at being top 10. The talent may be there but the opportunity currently is not.

I think they have Leveon Bell and Antonio Brown still on the roster. It's not his fault the Steelers have elite talent though. But it is what it is. He needs Brown to go down with injury. polecatt 403 Posted July 23, 2017 He has a lot of potential but at this point the chances of him hitting that are slim to none. He seems to have maybe taken his suspension and all of that seriously so he's worth a look. I would want to rely on him for much more than depth at this point. murf74 461 Posted July 23, 2017 If Steelers have 2 of top 10 WR their defense will have to be worst in league. Steelers don't run it up like that. Bell will still be most of volume of offense. They will also like to see what they have in Conner
stonewall 647 Posted July 24, 2017 The perfect WR2, after loading up on 2 or 3 RB's, a WR1, and a QB/TE1 early.....with weekly blowup potential.
shutdown 40 Posted July 24, 2017 If he is starting he may give you Desean Jackson type stats. His floor and other issues create the risk but this is also a guy who can go off any time. Low floor high ceiling The difference is, he is a red-zone threat, Jackson is not. So in addition to the freaky downfield big play stats, you also get red zone targets. In 2015 they compared in this manner D. Jackson 15GP - Targets inside 20 - 4 / Targets inside 10 - 1 M. Bryant 11GP - Targets inside 20 - 13 / Targets inside 10 - 7 I'd say he's giving you much better upside than Desean Jackson. The risk is that he can still perform at a high level right out of the gate, or how long it takes for him to get back into NFL playing shape/conditioning.
cavern 70 Posted July 24, 2017 as far as the potential to blow up... yes, assuming he stays clean and is playing, there will be weeks where the opposition make the decision to double team antonio and martavis blows up as a result. production also tied to ben. i think there is bog upside but also alot of bust potential
weepaws 2,460 Posted July 24, 2017 3 years in the NFL, and he's played in only 21 games. Trusting him is the biggest issue. Ben talking about retirement is the other. I think the Steelers will underperform.

weepaws 2,460 Posted July 24, 2017 I agree. That doesn't mean that he isn't ready to leave the game and not take the hits. He looked uncomfortable last season I would expect the same.
cavern 70 Posted July 25, 2017 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000810943/article/big-ben-on-retirement-speculation-it-doesnt-matter I do not see any chance that Big Ben will be mailing it in this season. i'm not worried that he's going to mail it in. once he's out there, he'll give it his all. but, he has tended to take (invite?) some big hits in the past and seems to miss a good amount of action. and he has not gotten younger. also, maybe they will try to change the way he plays a bit in an attempt to keep him healthy. how will that work? he's not used to getting rid of it quickly, assuming that's the direction they go. so, i'm a little worried about ben. either getting hurt or underperforming or both (not due to a lack of effort, mind you)
DankNuggs 305 Posted July 25, 2017 His upside is around 10th. He has that Randy Moss kind of aura when he is going off. His floor is 20-30... I feel like he could end up being a 65 catch for 1000-1100 yards and 6-8 TDs... Solid but inconsistent WR2
Maulers1973 117 Posted July 25, 2017 Here's what I know: The Steelers have a good offensive line, very solid. The offense should be high volume with all the playmakers they should move the chains and thrive especially between the 20's. They have a great QB. He is not washed up and going to mail it in and think retire. He's competitive, he'll perform just fine. The defense should be improved to help generate more opportunity for the offense. Bryant tends to have high red zone target % It all adds up to very good potential. He definitely is a high risk/high ceiling player!
