I am not a fighter ... UPDATE

Recommended Posts

As a residential HVAC Engineer & Design specialist, I often times must explain to builders and/or homeowners what is best for their Heating & Cooling application and what pricing is appropriate.

Earlier this week I was explaining SEER rating to a lady who was getting upset that she couldn't understand it. While in discussion, I accidently let a small piece of spital fly into her neck. Small as in about half the size of this --> o

Now I have been on both sides of this accidental faux pas in the past. I usually just ignore it or wipe it away without further comment.

The lady first wipes at it then wipes again like it was a splash and finally starts yelling aloud it.

Wasn't long before her husband and the builder come upstairs where we were.

He says what happened and she replies that I spit in her face because she couldn't understand SEER ratings.

Her husband who wasn't that big grabs me by my coat and starts jerking me around. I let the physicality go at first while explaining the accident but he keeps trying to manhandle me.

So I pop him one. I'm not a fighter and don't know how to knock anybody out but my uppercut drops the guy.

So I gotta get a lawyer. If I'm found not guilty, my company pays for it; if I'm at fault, I pay.

If he's grabbing you and throwing you around, you have every right to knock the focker out.

Does anyone else get the impression that the truth might be a little different?

Instead of happening at the house, it happened on the subway and instead of spit, it is jism on the back of the lady? :dunno:

Use the snowflake defense, and say she reminded you of Trump. Case closed.

Had to go there didn't you, Snowflake?

I'm sure the spittle didn't help matters, but shouting Listen, you dumb ######. Go get someone with testicles and a brain and I'll explain SEER rating to them! was prolly what triggered her.

This. If anyone lays their hands on you then by law you are allowed to defend yourself.

The question is. Did it make you feel good? Because it made me feel good hearing the story.

Repost from last summer...

A few months ago my neighbour (actually ex neighbour, just moved, gave house back to the bank) was a few weeks into recovery from neck surgery, not super serious surgery but serious enough...still neck surgery. Anyway the guy he shared a back yard border with he had a history with, both played guitar in hs and were in bands, etc...basically didn't like each other too much. Anyway that guy was all drunk one day and accussing my neighbour of something to do with the yards, walking around the block, back and forth going off. Finally took a couple swings but didn't connect. So my neighbour doesn't want to fight, but didn't have much of a choice. Threw one punch, dude not only got knocked out cold but ended up breaking his leg, compound fracture. He had to call the guy an ambulance and the cops came. Cops told my neighbour he could press charges if he wanted to, but said the guy probably learned his lesson. He didn't press charges.

I doubt anyone cares but opposing counsel dropped their 'threat' of litigation.

My company's attorney did not.

Long story short; we are still the HVAC Contractor .. and our price went up $1250.

And another non political thread taken there by one of the usual hacks.

On a three level 3,000 s.f. house using hydro air, would you go with a single 3.5ton airhandler and compressor, like a carrier infinity series, or would you split it up and use 2 airhandlers to more easily handle zoning?

Answer is always use 2 zones on a 3 level residence. But 3.5 tons ain't gonna do it. Maybe 3.5 tons on the lower level zone and 1.5 - 2 tons on attic application.

Carrier good. Trane good. All others not so as good.

If he started the physicality you are fine. Although as soon as someone even seems like they are going to lay a hand on me, I am either beating the ever living tar out of them if I can, or I am getting out of the situation. Had my ass kicked bad a few times. It's no fun.

From what I'm told the carrier infinity can somehow do 3 zones from a single handler, and it has some kind of variable condenser that ramps down on light demand so it doesn't freeze the lines, but it's 25% more expensive than the 2 system, although comparing trane in that case to carrier, equal seer. Can argue operating costs savings, but I decided on the trane to be cheap and safe. Didn't know if I was missing something

I also questioned the tonnage, had him go back and check the modeling and as I think about he did mention the lower needing more tonnage but it was less than 5 combined which surprised me. I guess due to using closed cell foam for the entire envelope and Anderson a series windows with upgraded glass lowers the demand? Has 9' ceilings on the lower 2 floors and a vaulted 12' for the upper level master bd, big volume for the s.f
