Students suspended for being a photo with guns off school grounds, during non school hours

Recommended Posts

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/18/uproar-after-new-jersey-high-school-allegedly-suspends-students-over-gun-range-photo.html

The school's policies allow suspending students for up to a year if they are "reported to be in possession of a weapon of any type for any reason or purpose on or off school grounds."

WTF. School policy can NOT allow that.

I called them and they "declined to respond to the media reports" and then hung up. LOL. Buncha focking poosy retards.

Anonymous source based on a deleted SnapChat post and the school has already denied this is why the students were suspended.

School policy can discipline for things that happen off school grounds.

They do with drugs and possible bullying.

Dont be dumb and post crap to social media that violates your school policy you likely sign at the beginning but f the year

Regardless of whether they were suspended for the pictures or not, it's total bullsh1t the school feels they have the right to suspend anyone for these kinds if pictures. Having a gun at a gun range?? Since when is that ever been wrong or illegal? Jebus, what about a picture of someone posing with their 10 point buck that has a rifle laying on the deer? What about a history teacher showing a power point of a war that has a soldier holding a gun?? Or a picture of a tank? Focking bullsh1t and only a focking loser would defend this policy.

I dont know how they can enforce off school grounds, but with everything being as sensitive as they are now, probably wasnt the smartest thing to do. Shouldnt be a suspension though.

Why is posting pictures of a visit to a gun range with your dad not a smart thing to do?

Didn't stop you from defending a position that was never taken because of it severe stupidity. You are a gem.

Wow, just yesterday I took my 13 year old to the cabin for his birthday "party" with 1 friend. They fished in the pond, shot skeet and blew through 100 rounds from my 9 shot 22 revolver.

You won't believe this but pictures were taken along with videos. Oh, no one was killed either.

Why? The school says it's for something other than the pictures. Hence my "regardless". I'm giving the school the benefit of the doubt there is a different, legitimate reason for the suspensions. They can't comment so I respect that. What I have a complaint about is a focked up policy that exists. (now apparently doesn't). Do you support such a stupid policy? If so, please read the last line of my initial post.

Yet it has been proven that multiple bureaucratic failures are to blame for this shooting! It never should have happened but it is still the guns fault.

It’s not about the kids it’s about disarming the American public.

Family visit to the gun range with adult supervision should not be scrutinized like that. Well, except for that one guy who let his 9yr old little girl shoot an Uzi and the recoil wasted a dude, but that’s a dif story. Kid should be able to have a day at the range with his parents.

Schools do not have the authority to chill the rights of their students off of school grounds, and this is a blatant infringement of their constitutional rights.

It's a public school and they do not have any right to compel a student to sign it. Also, 99.9% of the students are 17 or younger which would make any contract null and void. As I said in my 1st post: If anyone defends the school in this action, you're a focking loser.

I agree that a code of conduct should be adhered to if agreed on. I just think parental supervision should always supercede any misconduct in this case.

Only if said picture shows possible illegal activity. They are not the moral police.

If this wasn't why they were suspended, why did the school suddenly and very quietly change it's policy?

http://www.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/2018/03/after_uproar_school_district_quietly_changes_gun_p.html

Lacey schools Superintendent Craig Wigley said in an email to NJ Advance Media on Thursday that "information posted on social media is incorrect" and that private matters involving students cannot be discussed. He declined to say what aspect of the accounts posted on social media is inaccurate.

Easy out for the school

Not sure what the school policy was in question here. But also seems the school disputes the original story.

Given the story in the CNN town hall was bogus...the the Ohio protest kid suspension...easy to think the whole story wasnt told originally again.
