fricker66 91 Posted August 13, 2018 I think Furyk goes with Tiger, Phil, Kuchar and Kisner. Yes, Tiger is a liability off the tee, but he's great for golf and will increase viewership by 20%. There's no way that the Ryder Cup braintrust allows him to NOT be a part of the team. He's only an assistant captain because of his value to the TV game. If I were the captain and was forced to take Tiger, I'd leave Kisner or Kuchar out in favor of Finau. I think he'd be great in a match-play format given his ability to rattle off birdie after birdie. Maybe the answer is to give Kuchar the assistant captaincy so that Tiger doesn't have a dual role and then sub in Finau for Kucher.
Fireballer 2,382 Posted August 13, 2018 Id have to pass on Finau or Kuch. Kisner and Phil have good results at recent RC. Kisner been playing real well recently.
DankNuggs 305 Posted August 13, 2018 I take the next 4... Dechamblow has played great all year, and Shauffele has played best in big moments. Tiger and Phil have to be there for ratings, although Tiger is looking like he belongs
patweisers44 697 Posted August 13, 2018 Phil, Tiger, Schauffele, and either kisner or finau. Dechambeau is a head case that I don't think needs to be a part of the team this year and Kuchar, who has a decent RC record otherwise, doesn't play well in Sunday singles (1-3 overall) and chances are he would be a guy that played maybe one other match besides singles based on current form. posty 2,296 Posted August 13, 2018 If I want to win, I would pass on Tiger and Phil... The sub-.500 records aren't worth it IMO...
KSB2424 3,083 Posted August 13, 2018 Team based on points is: Brooks Koepka Dustin Johnson Justin Thomas Patrick Reed Jordan Spieth Rickie Fowler Bubba Watson Webb Simpson Tiger Woods has been playing arguable better than any of the others the past two months. He's in. Bryson DeShambeau is ranked 9th in the Ryder Cup points, I think he is deserving. Tony Finau is a stud, plain and simple. He gets my pick. Kevin Kisner is a bull dog. He can be the American's version of Ian Poulter. Xander, Kuchar and Phil just miss out.
fricker66 91 Posted August 13, 2018 I think Bubba being one of the automatics creates issues as he racked up most of his points early in the season. I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve the slot, but he has not been playing good golf lately. The other 7 automatics are deserving AND all are playing good golf right now. Maybe Bubba will step away with a mysterious injury to make room for another guy. Also, while Kisner may be a bulldog, he has the personality of a wet mop compared to Poulter. He played amazing golf into july. His arms do look so skinny that they might snap off him... Which is a concern that should be considered

KSB2424 3,083 Posted August 13, 2018 Phil has just been playing like crap recently. He's missed the cut past two majors. Him and Sergio have been on my DND list for golf drafts for a while now......they just cannot be trusted whatsoever. Finau and Tiger are locks for me. The rest is really hard. Cruzer 1,992 Posted August 13, 2018 TW - he's played his way on, no way around it. Phil - if not for this being his last hurrah, he'd be out.. but it is, consider it a Lifetime Achievement appreciation pick. Tony Finau - this dude is a baller. He's beloved by all, has the respect of all - and is flat out intimidating. This is the kind of guy I want on the front lines of what will be a very hostile environment. Kevin Kisner - grinder who can putt his ass off. With his recent top notch form - I've no problem going into battle with this dude.
Fireballer 2,382 Posted August 13, 2018 Phil gonna be Americas Lee Westwood tbis year. On a side note, I was just thinking how crazy it is that the RC used to be played odd yrs until 9/11 happened.

Him and Sergio have been on my DND list for golf drafts for a while now......they just cannot be trusted whatsoever. Finau and Tiger are locks for me. The rest is really hard. while you are 100% correct, the RC isn't a stroke play event and Phil has been pretty good in the last few RC's. Plus the relationships he seems to have with the young guys, I don't see how he gets left off.
fricker66 91 Posted August 14, 2018 Match play is very different from stroke play. Phil has been killed by a few bad holes in the majors. In match play, this doesn't hurt you as much, and thus makes Phil a more attractive RC pick. Finau played with Furyk at Bellerive and made 10 birdies in that round. I think that helps. dain11279 928 Posted August 14, 2018 Tiger and Phil are obviously gonna be in. Finau and Kisner would be my other 2 picks. Finau is the most talented of the bunch and Kisner just putts lights out.Deshamblow Dude had a meltdown on a driving range. I'm sure he'd handle the pressure of the RC well
Fumbleweed 426 Posted August 14, 2018 Tiger, Phil (for reasons already noted), Finau, Schauffele
DankNuggs 305 Posted August 14, 2018 European wildcards are more interesting because you know they want Poulter, who is 21st. RCB, Fitzpatrick, Knox?
Cruzer 1,992 Posted September 3, 2018 Well Fock - there's no way DeChamblow doesn't get picked now... So TW, Phil and he are locks - 1 spot open... I hope he goes Finau.

Dude has been steady as a rock. Birdie machine. I said Kisner a few weeks ago, but hes gone cold. I think these are easy choices for Furyk.

dain11279 928 Posted September 5, 2018 Garcia Even though his starts recently (hell, his whole season) have been laughable you know that he'll bring it at the RC. Focker always finds an extra gear for that week.
