All of those opposed to the new tariffs have offered serious reasons why (inflation is only one of them; there are all sorts of negative ramifications for employment, industrial growth, the entire economy.) Meanwhile, on the other, pro-tariff side, this is what we get: You liberals are all idiots! You lost, sit down and shut up! Maybe they’ll use this to replace income tax . Oh, NOW you care about inflation! Fock Mexico! Fock China! Not one serious argument in defense of what Trump is proposing. The closest is the rather vague notion that this is grandstanding and Trump will get a “better deal”. What sort of better deal will we get from Mexico and Canada? No answer. Actually, the case against her was technically rock solid. She held classified material (some at TS level) on an improperly secured server which was known to have been hacked and spilled into the hands of the enemy. She was not president and thus did not have ownership of those records as Trump would have under the Presidential records act. The only case she would have is that most of the material she had was under her classification authority and she could have declassified the material. But unlike the President, the method she would have to declassify material is clearly defined. A regular government employee would have been fired on the spot and prosecuted for such a breech. As an appointed employee she could have been prosecuted, but was not only due to discretion of the prosecutor. She clearly broke the law and does not have the legal cover the President would have.
