Years ago, at Footballguys, there was a thread about AA. I discussed at length what it was like to have an alcoholic spouse (she is now several years sober) and the trouble I had forgiving her, how I accused her of driving my kids around while drunk (she never did.) I was very open at the time, discussed Al-anon and other related matters. It was a very hard time in my life. But I met a lot of wonderful people and I’m still very much involved in the AA community. Back then the reaction I got was very supportive and it helped me a lot for which I will always be appreciative. I also revealed that both my wife and I struggled with weight for many years, though in recent months we have both reached a healthy weight thanks largely to Monjaro: it really is a miracle drug.
Ever since then, there are a couple people here who, usually when confronted by a comment or challenge I make about political issues which they can’t refute, make reference to my “fat drunk wife”. I’ll admit that it used to piss me off (why would anyone be such a d!ck to write that?) but now I just feel contempt for them. Obviously they have problems in their lives that they feel the need to write this stuff on the internet.
