I think the fact that this guy was (is?) MAGA is interesting, because I’m sure some Trump voters thought the main point of getting rid of the illegals was to get rid of the ones committing crimes other than being here illegally. I could see some independent voters being concerned about a guy that came here legally, was told he was on track to becoming a citizen, and had never been accused of any crime, being detained for a month over some paperwork.
