This day was emotional. I couldn’t reach anyone, family or friends. I was pretty much isolated and very alone. All I had was my battery powered AM radio and spirits along with Mr,Clarence. I was wanting my wife and mom to know I was fine and also how they were In Houston. Listening to the radio was beyond depressing. Even though my house was ok for the most part, I couldn’t listen anymore so I took a walk to the river blocks away. On my way there I helped a good looking chub (38D) find her cat Frenzy. An old lady asked me to check her house and her gas. I took a peak in her fridge and it was full and knew it was going to rot. Told her I would check on her. Came across a cop sleeping in his cruiser and let him know I lived there. Then got to the levee, finally.
First thing I noticed was the strong smell of diesel. When I got to the top on the dry side, the river was maybe nine feet from topping the levee. And there was a Bollinger dry dock barge that was on top of the levee. That’s where the diesel came from. Helicopters blanketed the sky, and looking to the New Orleans side was quiet but flooded. I went back to see if the cell line was working, no luck. I just wanted to know he had he left or not. That was my scariest time. WTF was I thinking?
