kutulu 1,688 Posted February 17, 2010 Can you imagine that wishy washy colostomy bag Kate as the protector of the island forever? Then again, Shannon and Charlotte were on the wall too. As long as it's Hugo or Locke I'll be happy.

The Moz 71 Posted February 17, 2010 If Richard in the face of getting killed told smokie to fock off when he asked him to be his ally - that tells it all right there. But with Sawyer hearing that from Richard he is playing his own game as well. I guess next ep will be the losties at the temple with Richard and prolly a claire sighting. AS for a replacement for Jacob - it almost definitley Hugo unless they stay true to the saying in the shadow of the statue will save us all -- then it would be a ressurected Locke. Interesting is Sayid cannot be the monster as Llana said he has to stay in that form now well unless he is a cloud of smoke. Maybe the sickness is the monsters canidates to replace him .. decent episode though i was expecting a little more.

Lackman 0 Posted February 17, 2010 AS for a replacement for Jacob - it almost definitley Hugo unless they stay true to the saying in the shadow of the statue will save us all -- then it would be a ressurected Locke. The running theme is free will and choices. Why would Hugo WANT to become the next Jacob, or be caretaker of the island, or whatever that position entails? Jacob needs Hugo to be his translator on the island since he can see dead people. Other than that, what does Hugo bring to the table, aside from a hearty appetite? OakHeadFootball 1 Posted February 17, 2010 Random re-watch ramblings. The smoke monster looks light colored / white in the reflection of the window in Dharmaville when he hears Sawyer break the bottle. Locke says "before I was trapped James, I was a man. Just like you." This makes me wonder, as cliche' as it has always sounded since the idea was thrown out there, if Jacob became a smoke monster (white) when he burned. Is Jacob the one possessing the kid who had blood on his arms in a Christlike pose when he first appears? Ilana says Locke cannot change his face anymore. Why? If that is true who/what "claimed" Sayid? Ilana scooped up some of the ash from Jacobs body when she learned he was torched. To protect against black smoke monster? Is the ash they have used for the rings all past island protectors ? There is a picture of Locke and his Father on Locke's cubicle. Helen also says they will invite Locke's father to the wedding. If Locke's old man did not push him out a window how did John end up paralyzed? The picture behind Locke at the temp agency looks like Desmond and Kate sitting on a porch. Locke has a polar bear bobble toy in his box of personal items when talking to Hugo in the parking lot. Locke's alarm clock in AR sounds like the hatch alarm. How the fook do they get out of the cave with the ladders all fooked up?
nobody 2,733 Posted February 17, 2010 Some names are crossed off none at all, some once, some multiple times. These signify how many times they died in previous tests, which would be previous iterations in loops. This is compelling evidence. That's rather stretchy
nobody 2,733 Posted February 17, 2010 My question is if Locke can't change his face anymore and Jacob has never appeared as anyone else, who was that in the Temple looking like fine ass Alex throwing Ben up against a wall telling him to do whatever Locke said? And here I thought the time for questions was over.

And here I thought the time for questions was over. Because of Jacob's death, NOW he can't change? Don't look at me. The writer's answers are at times contradicting my attention to detail and it is driving me insane. They are being sloppy. If they eventually confirm those loops, I will be the happiest man alive. Four episodes into this season, and the theory is still alive. Sketchy? Maybe. Possible? Yep.

And here I thought the time for questions was over. Good question with the Alex, like Lackman said maybe when he killed Jacob that meant he can't change face. Without questions, the show would become quite lame. A very big appeal of the show is interpretation, which people like Lack and Philly spend their lives doing. They are answering a lot of questions, or hinting towards a lot. We got our numbers question answered for the most part. Of course, now they introduce a large number of other questions. I am sure most of these will be answered.

I don't think the numbers question was answered at all. "Jacob's got a thing for numbers" isn't a very satisfying answer. The numbers appeared on the hatch door. They were heard by some crazy dude when they were broadcast over the open ocean and Hugo won the lottery using them, and supposedly that gave him bad luck. Obviously, the numbers have some sort of tie-in to the individuals they are attached to considering these numbers obviously had significance to the Darma people so much so that they etched them into the hatch door 30 years before the crash even happened and the Darma folks didn't even acknowledge Jacob existed. That's what they need to explain. They also need to make it make sense. If they come out and say Sawyer loved Jordan so he got assigned 23, I'll be pretty dissatisfied. True, like i said, we are getting more insight into some questions. They said most of the questions will be answered, but there will be a few left open for interpretation, but we will have all the "tools" to come to our own conclusions. Maybe the numbers are one of those questions.

Read up on the Valenzetti Equation, if you haven't before. Google it. I encourage everybody to get familiar with it. The writeup this week will retouch on this subject. Lackman 0 Posted February 18, 2010 I really think the candidate will be Sun. That would make the series worthless for me. I can't think of a worse ending. Sun walks away from her husband and young child to become protector of an island she couldn't wait to get off, and an island she only returned to in order to find Jin. She would be a terrible candidate. She has much more darkness in her, making her a decent candidate for helping MIB. Since MIB basically ignored Sun on the beach, so it is much, much more likely Jin is the candidate, and Sun is a nobody. Those murals were mostly the crazy drawings of Radzinsky in the Swan hatch, a man that went crazy and put a bullet in his head.
Voltaire 5,363 Posted February 18, 2010 The mural was painted by Executive Producer and Director Jack Bender and for storytelling purposes is attributed to Desmond (according to Lostipedia). http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Mural Calendar Live quotes Bender as saying: "I knew where the stories were going, and I knew of the mythology ...So I jumped in and painted" http://painting.about.com/b/2006/08/31/the...g-from-lost.htm 42 is Kwon. Of the 6+1 candidates, Sun is the only female which is top right. Also the large glowing object in the sky with the same name as hers -the sun- is featured connected with a red line from one of the least prominent candidates. Lackman 0 Posted February 18, 2010 I think he's trying to pull a con on Flocke. My guess is he'll seemingly fail (die) but whatever he does will ultimately save the rest. This has a realistic chance of happening. While it is hard to think that the thing that completely conned Ben is going to be conned by Sawyer, Sawyer is likely playing the game. He is probably destined to die a hero's death. What is left for his character to do at this point, other than die?

RicemanX 20 Posted February 18, 2010 More random thoughts: Little boy saying "You know the rules, you can't kill HIM" Him = Aaron saying you can't kill Jacob? Or Jacob saying you can't kill Sawyer? New timeline shown in season 6 is if Jacob never messed with anything. I'm thinking they will all do something in this new timeline that reveals why they were all chosen to come to the island. Where is Widmore on that wall of names? Desmond's adventures with the dude in the hatch before is very similar to this situation. The guy couldn't get off the island until he found a replacement.
