Ted Skeckler's LOST Used Car Emporium featuring the car Michael drove into the dock container, the car that Shannon's dad died in, the car Jack's ex-wife got paralyzed in, the bus that killed Juliet's ex-husband, the car Locke drove into traffic near Jack's hospital. Mint condition. The blood is free of charge.

So was Dharma one of Jacob's invitees, or did they force their way onto the island with their own lighthouse?

They do end up in conflict with Jacob's cult, and serve the purposes of Jacob's nemesis: without Ben Linus, Nemesis could have never killed Jacob.

*also I'd still like to hear an explanation of this loophole.

So in last week's episode, jungle kid tell MIB "You know the rules. You can't kill him"....I took this to mean he can't kill Sawyer because Sawyer is a candidate. No?

But then wasn't it MIB that killed Eko, and he is listed as a candidate, right?

I'm just trying to make sense of the rules.

I've read that Dalton said on a podcast that the sideways off island stuff this season is not an alternative timeline. What the fock is it excatly then? Most of the LOST write ups refer to it this way, but the writers themselves are saying this is not the case.

it might be he can't kill a "candidate" post-locke takeover. he's for some reason stuck in that body. (yet not "mortal" since the bullet bounced off him).

6.4 The Substitute

When MIB falls, Jacob turns to lecture him. “You know the rules, you can’t kill him”

But there are still inconsistencies. MIB killed Mr Eko. He should not have been able to.

Either sloppy writing, or I suppose that once Jacob is done with a candidate (crossed off list, eliminated from contention), then they can be killed by MIB.

Any candidate can be killed at any time by somebody else, through manipulation.

I've been going with dual realities, because alternate gives the impression that one timeline is more important than another. They are equal in importance, or simply the LAX is what happens when the 2007 stuff plays out. LAX is the epilogue.

Watching it online tonight, slightly glanced at some replies here just to see if it's a good episode.

Sounds like it was good? Is it? Please say it is? If not, at least i get jerk it to jungle Claire.

It's a Jack episode.

What do we usually see? Jack whines, cries, loses his temper and does something stupid, cries, can't connect the dots, cries.

It's better than the Kate episode.

I liked the Kate one a little better, but they were both at the bottom of this season's episodes so far...with last week being the best and the LAX 1 & 2 being in the middle, IMO of course.

no idea whats going on right now. Season 6 is a jumbled mess of WTF right now.. Jacob seems to be wanting Jack to be his replacement but who knows.

biggest questions right now

A. What is the sideways time line thing and whats it's relevance

B. What are the canidates?

C. Where does Flocke really want to go to

D. Are Claire and Sayid really infected or is there something else

E. Whats with the Underwater Island from LAX

F. Who is the little kid that spooked MIB..

Pretty sure the little boy was some manifestation of Jacob. It was either him or his agent. His main purpose was distract Flocke so Richard could warn Sawyer.

Of course, Sawyer didn't listen, but that's hardly the boy's fault.

My guess at your first question is that they are showing what the Oceanic passengers lives would have been like if they weren't manipulated by people form the island. For instance, somehow Locke bags Helen without people messing with his life. Jack has some kid and apparently somehow people from the island prevented him from having his appendix burst when he was a kid. Speaking of which, we should ask ourselves what the effects of Jack having his appendix removed on the island were. Did he miss something important, did someone else do something that Jack would have done.

The underwater island form LAX is supposed to be the darhma island. My guess is detonating the nuke somehow caused the island to sink.

I don't have any guesses on the other questions.

I don't like the time-loop theory. Not saying it isn't true. Just saying I don't like it if it is. If the timeloop theory is correct, then everything can be different from one show to the next and it doesn't matter. It's a little bit of a cop-out to me. It gives the writers carte-blanche to have inconsistencies throughout the show and just blame it on slight differences in from one loop to the next. As viewers if we have no way of telling one time loop from another, you might as well say it's magic because it doesn't hold any weight otherwise.

My take on Claire is she went over to the dark side. We actually already knew this for awhile. Remember that episode when she was in the cabin hanging out with Christian Shepard smiling like an idiot. I can't remember who they were talking to. Maybe Locke, but she was obviously up SMokie's ass for awhile.

Also, did anyone notice Locke's face when he saw Jin in Claire's tent. He looked none to happy to see him. It will be interesting to see how Locke deals with Jin's bluff. Although I don't get why he didn't just tell Claire the truth anyway. What is he hoping to accomplish by lying to her?

I thought it was a good episode. All of the flash-sideways have been generally lame with the exception of WTF moments seeing guys like Linus and Samari Joe leading regular lives off the island. I am thinking they are all relevant in some way, we just don't know it yet.

Claire is off her focking nut and it is awesome. Went from just eye candy to being a highly interesting character. I think any episode that doesn't have MIB as the main theme will seem lame. I disagree about this episode though, i thought it was pretty b-a.

That said, I think the time loop theory is bogus.

During the Season 5 writeups, I cited 3 to 5 specific examples of LOST revisiting the same exact scenes, except that each time the scene was shown, and not in previously on LOST style, but actually part of the show, details were different, dialogue was different, and the writers and producers admitted they did it on purpose. And this was done in previous season as well, as I've cited from time to time.

If it's not multiple loops and similar scenes strung together to make up this TV show going into this scene, I want a better explanation. No, not from you. From the show itself. I have facts on my side. FACTS.

I don't have to like it, but it's the only explanation that I have. Continuity errors? Then why say they did it on purpose? To fock with us? That's a possibility, unfortunately. Sad to think they would fock with the scene of Juliet beating on the bomb at the bottom of the shaft, but that's exactly what they did. Blood gushing from her mouth. Oh, now it's gone. I could come up with 20 to 40 examples, given a bit of time. But it's not exactly the offseason anymore.

Sigh. I get too wound up with this crap. Entertainment, or source of tension? You decide.

I'll open it up. Can anyone come up with a better explanation why things like the Miles' ghost hunter house, the LA marina scene, Sawyer holding a rope in the ground, Ben with Jack Sun Desmond meeting Eloise, Juliet face blood at bottom of shaft, Claire giving birth on island, etc, why are these scenes different every time we revisit them? I'm losing sleep.

Not necessarily a better explanation, but here's a different one. When Sawyer, Syaid, Hurley, Jack, Kate, Juliet, and Jin went back in time, they created a butterfly effect that slightly altered the future timeline. From 1977, things they changed could cause slight or even major changes in the future. The idea would be that everything we see before they got stuck in 1977 would be the original timeline. Anything we revisit after they are stuck in 1977 could reveal changes.

I had been thinking that the nuke in 1977 had caused reality to split, 1 with the "real" timeline and a second alternate timeline where the bomb sunk the island. But the recent episodes has me questioning that.

Would Ben and the Dharmas have time to get off the island before it sank? And how long has Asian Beard Man been on the island? Was he with the others in 1977? If so, how did he get off the island?

Good thought process. I've considered this.

But, if the marina scene is taking place in 2007, why are we seening 3 different versions of it. If 1977 changed the future, why not get one uniform scene there.

What about the well scene, where John falls, when Sawyer and Juliet recreat something different, and it seems to be the time of the Tawaret statue being intact, so this is way BEFORE 1977. Yet, two different scenes.

It's maddening.

I realize TV shows don't really bother with the finer details, but this show was built on it, with rabid morons like me searching for clues in the off season.

But, what you have to assume is a split of timelines, but they don't even split at the same time. A split in 2004 and another split in 2007. I've never heard of that concept before.

That's why I push the loop theory. In the end, to me it makes the most sense, and the LAX is the epilogue. I'm waiting with dread to be proven wrong at some point this season.

And if 2004 is a an "alternate" timeline and not a dual timeline, what do we do with the flashforwards 2004-2007 during Seasons 3+4+5. Do they really exist anymore?

I didn't realize the well scene was before 1977. You're right. That would blow that theory up. I gave up clue searching, so I miss a lot of the relevant details. I'm like you in that I foresee a let down in the end and I decided I don't want to put to much time into it.

I'm onboard with the loop theory.

This has been happening since way back in season one when we saw different versions of the plane coming apart scene happen slightly differently.

the writers specifically said:

-it is not an "alternate" timeline, but dual or sideways

-whatever happened to put the island on the bottom of the sea, happened before juliet hit the bomb

coincidently(or not?) whatever destroyed the statue happened before 1974 or 1977 (and before Linus came to the island)

and whatever disrupted pregnancies had to have happened after 1974 when ethan was born (this could be the bomb)

"That's not John. This is my friend." Just shot right to the top of my creepiest moments ever in LOST list.

The tone and creepy ass smile was something. I loved the ending of the show, Claire just shot up mine and hopefully everyone's list of favorite characters.

One person who is lost in this madness is Ben. WTF? You have to figure Ben is working on something so he can manipulate something so he can be the protector of the island.

OK it is farely obvious (or very obvious) that I'm lost and do not have a full understanding on WTF is going on.

That said - reading here about timelines - sideways - 1977 - and generally where we are now - Does Jacks father and or Charles Widmore still fit in to the eqaution ? Wasnt Faraday's mother more involved withthe island ir is she out of the picture as well.

Sorry for the ignorance

Yea, because it is the ORIGINAL timeline.

It is the timeline of what HAPPENED when Jacob never interfered with anything.

These people in the ORIGINAL timeline will eventually do something in the middle of the season that will prove why they were chosen by Jacob as candidates.

Jacob has never interfered with anything. That's a pretty big misunderstanding. No matter what, there's always been a choice.

Jacob is Free Will and MIB is Fate. And try as they might to rid themselves of the other, one cannot exist without the other.

-----------------------EDIT--------------------

After reading a bit of a blog, I like where one guy was going:

CRAZY THEORY OF THE WEEK

I have frequently speculated that one of the final scenes to end the entire series will feature the offspring of the main characters, designated for destiny: Walt Dawson, Clementine Ford, Charlie Hume, Ji Yeon Kwon and Aaron Littleton. That Jack has a son in the sideways version of his life further fuels my theory, and I will now add David Shephard to that list. Perhaps these six will be the next incarnation of the Oceanic 6...crashing, leaving and then returning to the island in the loop of life that Jacob calls "progress."

We've now seen the last names of those who have been brought to the island over the years both on the cave wall and the lighthouse compass. I strongly believe that there is a familial, generational tie to the island. Some names are now crossed out, which indicates that they are not Candidates. However, I believe that some of the names represent more than one person, and those with crossed out names are not necessarily deceased:

* Dawson is crossed out: Michael is deceased, son Walt is alive.

* Faraday is crossed out: Daniel is deceased, but it is fascinating that he is a Widmore yet father Charles' name isn't on the wall...

* Goodspeed is crossed out: Horace is deceased, son Ethan is alive only in flash sideways world.

* Kwon is not crossed out; Jin and Sun are Candidates, daughter Ji Yeon is also alive.

* Linus is crossed out: Roger is deceased, son Ben is alive.

* Littleton is crossed out: Claire and son Aaron are alive.

* Shephard is not crossed out: Jack is a Candidate, father Christian is deceased, grandfather Ray is alive. Jack's son David exists in the flash sideways world only.

* Straume is crossed out, as is Chang: Miles is alive, father Pierre is deceased.

In addition, when the lighthouse mirror reflected the house where Jack grew up (versus the hospital where Jacob had visited him) when the compass landed on Shephard, I believe that the mirror was showing the memory of Jacob's visit to Christian.

It's odd that suddenly Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore are just gone from the story, after all the work they did in setting things in motion and on course.

Jack's father, Christian, is not really needed anymore. MIB disguised himself as Christian to manipulate Locke, Jack, and Claire. Now, there really is no reason to appear as Christian.

I'm not sure if those people in the LAX timeline weren't messed with in some way.

Claire, for example, is on the plane, to the best of our understanding. She was manipulated by the con artist Richard Malkin into taking a specific plane.
