Kopy 570 Posted August 29, 2011 Marcus Trufant takes a paycut. And Kelly Jennings gets traded. This is a team with a direction. And a great man once said: " I love it when a plan comes together"
Joey Gladstone 33 Posted August 29, 2011 Glad to see Jennings finally gone. He has a lot of experience but he's just blocking PT for the younger corners. I would have rather gotten a pick for him. Now lets move Carlson for a 3rd rounder so we have some ammo to move around for a QB in April!!!!!

I don't think he'll be traded until the deadline. Morrah should start the season on the pup list, so we'd have 2 kids behind Miller. I believe Morrah comes off the list and gets activated, and we trade Carlson (I was thinking we could get a 4th for him) to make room for the rostor spot. Carlson is also a FA next year. (I think?) So I do want to get something for him.

Joey Gladstone 33 Posted August 30, 2011 Andre Gurode & Mike Karney Visiting Hawks They've been jerking Karney around for a month now. Gurode intrigued me as soon as I saw he was cut. I don't know if Unger is physical enough to be a full-time starter.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted August 31, 2011 Wow. Its surprisingly optimistic in here for the absolute train wreck that the offense has been so far this preseason. I didn't think that an NFC west team could possibly lose enough to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, but it might be a duel between the 49ers and the Hawks. Seriously, I would love to see Miami and Buffalo play in week 17 and Seattle and SF as well. Luck could sit on his couch with a bottle of maalox and watch the whole thing unfold. No such luck. phillybear 366 Posted August 31, 2011 I guess I was wrong on Carlson. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. And P.S. Stop drafting players from Notre Dame Out for the year. I am vindicated with the Carlson result. Hated the pick from the start. The best years he had were when there were zero healthy WRs and he padded his stats. It's just reality. Contract year too, so he is either resigned on the cheap or gone. It might have been interesting to see him with Miller on the field at the same time, but TE is the deepest position on this team, and I want to see more of McCoy and Morrah and Byrd. Gurode would be nice depth. Especially considering that Carpenter has been such a bust that he has reportedly lost his starting job to Giacomini. A third round guy taken in the first round. Fock. What a horrible draft we had. The image of Saban sitting at that draft table with his mouth agape when Carpenter was picked....it haunts my dreams. I don't think a third of the draft picks will even make the team this year. Sure, that means we brought in a good crop of undrafted free agents. But it also means the draft picks sucked like Sweetness spending a week in a kielbasa factory.

I knew it would be ugly. All new line, most of these guys probably just met each other a month ago. Best lineman has been out. Starting two rookies. Lockout. If the line was looking decent then Cable would be a genius. It's going to take time. And as poor as Carpenter has played I think you need to keep throwing him into the fire. The only way he's going to get better is with experience. Who cares if our quarterbacks get killed while he's putting it together.
Kopy 570 Posted September 1, 2011 Need some help fellas. I have 3 picks left in a brand new startup dynasty league. I need my last 2 picks for a defense and kicker. But the other pick I wanted to take another RB flier for my bench. I was thinking of either Forsett or Washington. Who would you take and why? Forsett's younger, and has done well. Will be a FA after this year. (Do we even resign him?) Washington's older, but has a long term contract with us. Carroll likes him(maybe not Forsett as much?). And now looks to be #2 on our depth chart. I'm not worried to much about rushing yards. It's a ppr league, and both these guys can catch. Thanks, Brian

Thanks, Brian I would look elsewhere for a player over Forsett and Washington for sure. I bet there is some better options out there still, even if it is late. BUT, if you are set on taking one of these two then take Forsett. I'm not sure about the future, but Forsett is #2 and will get the most playing time even with Lynch in there. If an injury happens, Forsett is the main runner. Forsett is still fairly young, and really has not been given a complete chance to be the #1. He's a hard runner. Washington is not even on my board whatsoever. Forsett could be gone next year though. But, maybe that would be a good thing for him. Forsett actually has an outside shot to give you production this year though. Washington = not so much
Kopy 570 Posted September 1, 2011 Were in round 20 (I don't have a 21 or a 22). There are a couple other choices still left. Deji Karim, Tashard Choice, Isaac Redman but thats about it. The pool is very dry. Even all the rooks are scooped up already.
Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 1, 2011 I'd take Washington. He already has the inside track on the other half of our timeshare. It won't do him any good until later in the year, or possibly next year, but it's something. As much as I like Forsett, nobody ever wants to play him. I'd consider Choice over him too. He's a good player, and can catch well, and the #2 for a great run organization. I could maybe even see him getting playing time during the year (similar to Forsett) And with injury to Mendenhall - He's #1. I think he's fairly young as well. that would be my pick. Karim might be a nice pick too as that other backup is hurt right now, but I'd probably take Forsett over him. Couple sleepers that might be out there?: D. Scott (Benson in jail and can't catch anyway), Howling-Arizona

Hawkfin 32 Posted September 1, 2011 As a seahawk fan, you should hope they give Washington offensive touches. He is a game changer when healthy. Possibly your best RB. I'm serious I don't do F.F. on hope or homerism wants or needs - I go with what I think happens. And I think Lynch is the work horse this year with Forsett the main #2, and sprinkles of Washington here and there. And Washington will probably focus in on the kick returns. In the future, I see a all new RB on this team. NOT Wash. That's just my perspective now and how it appeared to be last year as well. I do think Wash is maybe our best back, with home play ability. But, he's also not a young chicken anymore. He's also NEVER carried the load and never will in my view. Like I said, I would simply STAY AWAY from our backfield all together. Our line and team will struggle this year. He should look elsewhere (I. Redmond) is my entire point! As for my hopes for my team - I don't have much - We are rebuilding -

Hawkfin 32 Posted September 1, 2011 Scott and Howling are both gone. Trying to see about a trade. Cool, GL with whatever you decide. I really like the I. Redmond pick though if you don't trade. I'm targeting him even in my redraft 16 round league if the RB's go deep enough to warrant the pick.

Kopy 570 Posted September 2, 2011 Carson Palmer....coming, perhaps to a town near you. Do you think an immobile pocket passer would fare well in Seattle? If they were a 10-6 team, and just needed a QB. I'd say I'm all for it. But their gonna be bad this year. At least the first half of the year or so, until everyone starts to gell together. I think Palmer would get killed out there. That's not what I want for my QB (or rookie had we drafted one). As someone else said. Who cares if Jackson and Whitehurst get kicked around. Neither one should be our starter next year. So far. They seem to be building this franchise the right way, and I don't mind the bumps in the road this year will bring. As long as they stay on course. Unless they can get Palmer for a ham sandwich and a six pack. Then get him to restructure his contract to league minimums. They should stay on course.
