nikki2200 4 Posted April 27, 2011 For those that want to see it... http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf Now why couldn't he have just done this on day one when questions arose? Because he probably thought the whole thing was ridiculous like 75% of americans do and probably doesn't spend a whole lot of time reading right wing extremist forums on the interwebs? posty 2,643 Posted April 27, 2011 I am thinking that he might have been busy with things that are actually important and trying to not be distracted by obscure requests from the uneducated. Please... You don't think he couldn't get one of the interns to put in the application/call to get the full form? Takes all of 5 seconds to tell the Chief of Staff for them to delegate it to an intern... Because he probably thought the whole thing was ridiculous like 75% of americans do and probably doesn't spend a whole lot of time reading right wing extremist forums on the interwebs? Yes it was ridiculous, but when more and more people began to question it, why drag your feet on it?

IMMensaMind 462 Posted April 27, 2011 First of all, your concept presupposes that every political decision made involves the use of funds from your pocket. What? Every vote involves electing politicians who use funds from my pocket. WTF are you talking about? That is not necessarily true. What about legislation on social issues? What about the selection of judges? What about foreign policy decisions (at least those depending on personnel & resources already in place)? Why is this important, when politicians also can force money out of my pocket due to being empowered by people who like that idea? My point has nothing to do any stretches of rationalization that politicians do other things (and some of those things - like social issues - also effect my wallet). Second of all, you assume that everyone who pays taxes owns property. Also not true. Plenty of people pay income tax but don't own property. Nearly everyone pays sales tax but many do not own property. Even people who rent don't pay property taxes, but guess what a portion of their rent is? That's right, to account for the property taxes of the owner. You're operating under a misimpression. Nowhere did I assume that everyone who pays income taxes also owns property. What I said was that one should either pay Federal Income Tax, or own property, if they want to vote. 50% of the American public does not pay Federal Income Tax. Can you not bring yourself to admit that something is fundamentally focked up about that, and that such an environment is going to create tax and other policy which pits those who do not pay such tax against those that do? Are you ignoring statements from Ben Franklin and others if you do not acknowledge this? People should not be able to vote themselves money from the Treasury, and yet that is exactly what is happening. Now you have a miserable excuse for a President talking about raising taxes on people like me again, instead of doing the right thing and evening out tax code to grant equal treatment under the law. Progressive Taxation has become so engrained that you no longer even pause to question if it's been good. Third of all, even assuming that we are talking about a destitute person who does not make enough money to be taxed, buys very little, and owns no loand, that person should still be able to take part in our democratic system. 50% of the population pays no Federal Income Tax. Have you fooled yourself so deeply as to actually require yourself to offer the example of a destitute person to make your point? 50%. Are you actually trying to claim that 50% of the population is destitute? And if you're in a position where those guys have enough political clout that they can demand that funds be taken from the rich, well then that's going to happen whether there is democracy or not. If they're allowed to vote then the political fights between the haves and have-nots is resolved in a relatively civil and painless fashion. If they aren't allowed to vote, you have a revolution on your hands. You're actually now stating a position that the rich are going to get their assets taken no matter what? That people will rise up and rob the rich, and kill them?????? You really need to scrutinize that position, and tell me how what you're saying isn't any different than the mafia, and how such a thing could even begin to happen in a law and order world. Your position can literally be boiled down to the simple statement that the ability to force the rich to foot the bill for our Government is actually saving us from anarchy. Ridiculous. ROFLMAO So in short, your little theory rests upon a number of false assumptions and it is completely inpractical in any event. And that's not even mentioning the fact that "one man, one vote" is the very heart of our democratic system. So we'll add Un-American (and I hate that term because it's often abused) to the list of what's wrong with your little proposal. Your little theory rests upon the ridiculous premise that the "Rich" will have their assets taken if they do not willing comply with this immoral system. You make many missteps and incorrect presumptions. No wonder your conclusion is likewise flawed. I clarified the position for you; I'd be curious to see what changes in your POV wrt to this. I tend to think he waited until the number of birthers was high and a high profile idiot like Trump really brought it to the mainstream. It wouldn't have been as effective if he only made 15% look like total idiots. Trump actually brought more Republicans onto the birther side. He just dropped a fool-bomb. Recliner Pilot 61 Posted April 27, 2011 76% retardo. I was watching O'Reilly talking about Trump and his nonsense. He cited a poll, don't remember which one, that had only 38% saying they were sure he was born here. A lot of people answer "not sure/don't know" to these things, Puddin' T!ts. He saw things trending against him on the issue and decided to cut his losses. The birthers looked like idiots on their own, but they were getting people to move from the "He was definitely born here" camp to the "unsure" camp. Given the clusterfukk the rest of his agenda is, he decided he couldn't stand pat. Either way, at least you admit this decision was purely political.
