Top 5 RB for 2012

Recommended Posts

Schedule will of course affect positioning.

Foster - injury still a concern?

McCoy - involved on every down.

Rice - runs, catches just needs to score more

AP - does his value drop with Ponder at QB?

Jackson - is this a breakout year or an aberration

Forte needs to be in the conversation as well.

I would put him ahead of Fast Freddy just because of Freddy's age.

But right now, I would pick McCoy over Foster, mainly because of the injury concern

my top 5

Foster- hes proven hes healthy, and proven hes the best all around back in the game

AP- looks even better with Ponder

Mccoy- TD's might not continue, but PPR dream

Rice- solid contributor, doesnt seem as explosive as he was a yr ago, may be the 2012 Chris Johnson?

Mathews- PPR stud, who is actually more efficient in the redzone then Tolbert, expect more touches going forward.

Forte- Wild Card, who knows if the Bears pay him, he may sit out and we have seen time and time again what the effects of that are

That's 6.

To me those 6 plus FJax and DMC are the main guys in the conversation.

I also think that Trent Richardson, if he lands in a good spot, could be in the mix immediately. He catches the ball well and could be a 300 touch guy immediately. Somewhere like Cincy or Cleveland would be potentially realistic and decent landing spots.

well what I was getting at is thats my top 5, Forte would be top 5 if his contract didnt concern me.

I find Mathews to be the best value (like McFadden this year) and you can prolly get possible top 5 production out of the 10thish pick

I traded McCoy for AP just for the simple fact he can't be completely shut down with 8 men in the box, he can get 20 rushing and still get you 80-100 receiving.

Foster is still the most dangerous and explosive of the bunch, risk/reward.

AP, top 3 pick till he retires.

Dunno after that, maybe CJ if he shows something the last half of season.

I guess Rice and Forte both go into free agency. Forte probably gets the franchise tag. I know the Ravens tagged Haloti Ngata, does that tag stay with him for the length of the contract or can they use it on Rice? Probably safe to assume both stay put.

1. McCoy

2. Foster

3. AP

------

4. Forte

5. Rice

I don't think he'll be top 5 but I'll throw out Jamaal Charles' name just for the discussion since he should be back well before the season starts.

Murray will be a top 5 RB next season going into the drafts. If he adds a few more TDs this season he could be really far up there.

I agree that Murray has the skills. I want to see how he plays for a few more games, he looks like the real deal so far.

DeMarco Murray not yet entrenched as starter The last DeMarco Murray heard on the subject, Felix Jones (ankle) was still expected to regain his starting job when healthy.

"I don't know what the coaches are going to do," Murray said. "From my understanding, I think he's still the starter." This may be a case of the humble rookie being deferential to the veteran. It's not clear if Murray has been told the plans of late, or if this is old news. Either way, we can't see how the coaching staff can ignore the best three-game stretch in franchise history. Even if Jones regains the nominal starting role in a couple of weeks, Murray should maintain plenty of fantasy value. Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram Nov 10 - 4:53 PM

1-AP -Team stays same and is a beast

2-Rice - Team stays same and is beastly/can catch will still have Leach

3-McCoy - Andy Reid/Vick?

4-Foster - Won't lineup as WR as often with AJ back/injury concern

5- Forte maybe depending on franchise tag, but remember last time he was pegged high he dissapointed (3/4 yrs ago?)

I would probably take DMC in the top 5. You grab bush early and you've got a top 10 back even if Mcfadden goes down.

Bush is a free agent after this season. He'll probably end up somehwere else, but maybe Taiwan Jones would work.

Agreed. Especially with the possibility of Forte being on a different team, I think you have to consider a healthy Charles a top 5 RB.

right now i have a hard time putting Charles as a top 5 back for next year. I don't trust Haley in the first place so when you add in Charles coming off an ACL.... i can't bring myself to put him top 5 even as a huge JC fan.

Adrian Peterson - simply the best back in football. Produces no matter what is around him

Arian Foster - not a fluke. Once past the injury he has been as good as billed.

LeSean McCoy - even in non PPR.

Darren McFadden - has the skills just need to stay healthy.

Ray Rice - Solid and steady. Needs to score more but is involved in all facets

Top tier but no particular order....

- McCoy is a must. Best I've seen in the NFL this year. Extremely explosive and he can do it all.

- Arian Foster. I'm thinking any RB who runs behind that OL deserves top 5 consideration.

- Peterson. As long as he's healthy, he's very good.

Next tier.

-Ray Rice. Honestly I think he's a little overrated, but he's definitely pretty talented.

Final tier.

-McFadden. Could be with the guys in the top 3 if he could stay healthy. He's so talented.

It's tough to argue with this list. Foster and McFadden come with mandatory handcuffs.

I was curious to see all RBs average per week so far. These stats are from standard scoring league. I really expected Rice to be higher.

I read 'Basnight'comment, "-Ray Rice. Honestly I think he's a little overrated, but he's definitely pretty talented", and i thought id prove him wrong but after looking i think i have been over rating him. #6 is not bad at all but i would have guessed top 3.

i get what youre saying and i appreciate posting these stats however there is so much more to take into consideration than total points.

im big on consistency. Lets compare Ray Rice to ADP for a second. While ADP is 2 spots higher at 4th overall, he also has twice as many single digit fantasy days as Ray Rice. So while it's nice to have one of those 30+ "win your week" type games, i like consistency and Rice has seemingly been more consistent at going for 14+.

even Matt Forte has a single digit game, just like Rice but he has 2 more sub 14 point games. He just so happens to have a 31 mixed in.

and its not like Rice is a slouch when it comes to game winning weeks. He has 2 28 pointers to his credit.

DMAC has proven he cannot hold up. He is not a top 5 guy based on that.

I can agree with Foster, Shady, Rice, AP and Forte. There will always be a new one every year.

I was just curious to see all the averages. To get a better average you probably should take out lowest score and highest score <_<
