How badly will the Packers embarrass the Lions on Thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

Few things here that are funny.

-not the same as Matthews, though I agree it was a bad call...the appearance that it could have been leading with the helmet is what likely got the call.

-you go off about other people whining...yet all you have done today is whine about the calls in this game and the last (btw...the calls last week were legit...but not stopping you from just being a whiny little tool).

hail mary, fock you, sport.

hail mary, fock you, sport.

Your best reply yet.

And predictable as ever for the fool who talks as much ignorant crap as you and can never back any of it up.

You have been completely destroyed today by everyone.

I almost feel sorry for you...the beating was that bad.

and glad to see that a fine catholic boy like you finds it in his black, molested heart to feel sorry for a fan of an opposing team after the-only-reason-you-live-team beats said team by 12 points.

you'll get those angels wings real soon at this rate :overhead:

Sorry I missed out on the fun. I was actually with real people.

Game was close. The 2 teams are a good match for one another but one team showed it's not ready to take the next step yet. If you think that was a blowout, you're even dumber than I thought.

Until the last drive it was 27-8.

Not a total blowout...but after the start of the 3rd quarter it was not close.

I'll say it again, one team is not ready to take the next step yet. The 2 teams seem pretty evenly matched to me otherwise. I did not see one team that was really much more talented than the other, I saw a team that has matured and is filled with confidence while the other is still pretty immature and lacks the confidence to win the big ones.

I don't think they are as evenly matched though.

I think Detroit can give them trouble if they get pressure with the front 4.

But where I think GB is above them big time (other than QB) is depth.

GB lost 3 starting LBs and their best Olineman in this game and it barely phased them.

pretty accurate

have fun going round and round with sho on that one :overhead:

228-86 in yardage for the first half in favor of the lions...7-0 until suh did his boneheaded thing.

but, nah, the lions didn't beat themselves--and the game was never ever close.

all hail the yellow death star.

Tl;dr on the thread, but just in case it hasn't been mentioned already... The Lions embarrassed themselves... Didn't need any help from the pack today. That was tough to watch.

45-34, maybe. i think you have to give the lions credit for their 2nd half adjustments, which are normally very good. they're going to score.

I'm sure he stays up at night worrying that some 52-year-old fat, balding, semi-pyschotic dingleberry living in the UP doesn't think he's cool

 I will now refer to many of my co-workers as semi-psychotic dingleberries...awesome.

I don't know what makes me feel better... The Packers being 11-0 or that a win against Detroit manages to sync the menstrual cycle of some board members here.

Go Pack Go!

 Well done roroco! The thread was dragging right around that point and you brought the funny!

Whining about the officiating in a 27 - 15 game is like complaining that daylight savings is making you fat. The officiating was bad, but it was bad on both sides and it sure as hell didn't account for two touchdowns (three if you don't count the garbage time goal). There is nothing bad about losing to the best team in the NFL right now... There is something wrong about being a sore loser.

Thanks guys, being stuck working on the day after Thanksgiving sucked, but this thread brought me much hilarity. It's like 3 monkeys flinging poo at each other then arguing over which one tastes worse.

Wow, it was 24-0 at one point. These two teams are not close in talent. The QB comparison alone makes them not close. Then on one side Detroit has the most talented WR, but Packers have 3 really solid ones including a good TE.

Detroit kept it close in the 1st half, I said this. They looked even. Still no pressure on Rodgers. Detroit was giving it everything they had in their biggest game of the year on Thanksgiving. They couldn't keep up.

Detroit's offense, mostly Stafford, also puts their defense in bad position when he turns it over. Either way, 24-0 is pretty much a blow out. How else can you spin that? Well 24-0 is close because Stafford gave em' pts?

How do you think this game goes later in the season or in the playoffs in Lambeau???

Amazing what one injury does to the momentum in a game. Kevin Smith went through the Green Bay defense like Swiss cheese in the 1st quarter for almost 60 yards. After his injury, Detroit was forced to solely go to the passing game and Green Bay just pinned back their eyes on a full pass rush. Funny how you call yourself the Pro. If you're a pro, what will be the Super Bowl matchup?

Just my two cents as a Lion's fan who was at the game yesterday.

Green Bay was the superior team, not because of better talent or better coaching, but because they didn't make mistakes. The next step for the Lions is to be more consistent with fewer turnovers and penalties. The feeling I had in the first half and especially the first quarter was that the Lions were better prepared and were physically dominating the Packers. Detroit could never quite close the deal shortly after they crossed midfield several times. I haven't seen the Packers with so many 3 and outs and other stalled drives all year. But to the Packer's credit, they stopped the Lion's when they needed to.

Kevin Smith's injury followed by Suh's penalty (VandenBosh's as well) swung the momentum in Green Bay's favor, and they never looked back. They did what great teams do--they capitalized on their opponent's mistakes. I'm not saying that the Lion's would have necessarily won without the picks or penalties, but I can almost guarantee that it would have come down to the final quarter before the game was decided. From a Detroit Lion's fans perspective, I left the game feeling we got beat by the better overall team; however, I wouldn't in any way chalk up the last game of the season in the guaranteed win column for Green Bay.

Regarding Suh's penalty: I didn't even really see it at the game but watched the video several times. I find it impossible to completely reduce my bias to 0, but I don't think it was nearly as malicious as reporters are describing it. I see Suh trying to get up with his and the OL's arm locked together, and pushing on his helmet in frustration of not being able to stand. As he turned away and stomped his foot, I saw it as more of a "get the f*ck off me" exclamation to what was a super intense moment and game. I really don't believe he was thinking--"I'm going to stomp on this guys arm/shoulder because he wouldn't let me up". Fact of the matter is: When all eyes are on you, you'd be better off being as gentlemanly as possbile after the whistle blows. He's a young guy with a ton of talent who just needs to temper down a bit in the heat of the moment. Based on Rodger's performance in the second half vs the first, the Lion's are going to need Suh in there if they are going to make the playoffs.

Are you serious with this?!?!?!?! Every player is in the heat of the moment all game, whether he meant to stomp him or not is irrelevant. He stomped him. What's next, I punched him in the face and broke his skull because he was in my face, and it was just me in teh heat of the moment saying 'get out of my face!' seriously dude, you lion fans really are something special.

ALso, if the dude hadn't already built up a reputation in his short career, your illogical statement might hold a very slight bit of weight. Regardless, there is no place for that in the game, and he'll get punished. His reputation will likely make that punishment harsher than if he didn't have that reputation...

also, your take of the game is fairly delusional as well. They played really well but just couldn't close the deal!

Really??? Same can be said about jsut about any other team outside of the worst 3 or 4 teams in teh league. The final score is what counts, and by all accounts they got soundly beat by a significantly superior team...

Refer to the title of the post...If you think the Packer's "embarrassed" the Lion's I think you are dead wrong. Never did I say they didn't get beat, or should've won, or anything of the sort. As a matter of a fact I stated the Packer's were the superior team, and it was because of the final score.

As far as calling me an apologist. C'mon man, I was just stating how I interpreted the video. Comparing this to punching someone in the face is a terrible analogy. Take a look back at Robison kicking the Packer player in the groin(not that he didn't deserve some retailiation from what happened earlier) awhile back--imo way more malicious than Suh's stomp. No suspension there. What doesn't make sense to me is all this outcry for a suspension based on past behavior. If the commissioner think's Suh deserves a suspension based on this incident so be it, but to say "well I normally wouldn't suspend a player based on what I see here, but because on the media driven effort to portray Suh as this dirty player, I must act more harshly than I normally would" is just stupid. Suh didn't hide from the camera's after the game. He told his side of the story, and I see where he is coming from. It that makes me "special" than so be it. Next time read the whole post instead of every other line.

Yeah his peers decided to get together and do an impromptu players only vote for NFL's dirtiest player. The Sporting New's --that's media.

Here's one example:

"I'm not necessarily saying dirty but just aggressive and intense," Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington said of his vote for Suh. "I'm on the defensive side of the ball. I like the way he plays. I wouldn't mind having a guy like that in front of me."

sounds like a reliable dirty player poll to me. I'm sure the players are taking the poll vote as serious as some of you are.

By the way and for the record I never said he didn't deserve to be penalized, nor did I say he didn't deserve to be disqualified from the game. I'm just fed up with all the suspension talk. The end result of what he did was wrong--I'm simply questioning the maliciousness of it. I don't think he deserves a suspension because of it.

Did the media force them to vote for Suh?

He should be suspended.

It was easily malicious to anyone who watched it...and based on repeat actions where he crosses the line, its easily going to be 1-2 games.

Especially since he shows no remorse and his coach sees nothing wrong with it and won't do anything to him.

But to the Packer's credit, they stopped the Lion's when tKhey needed to.

--Jennings runs his route a 1/4 yard deeper early and the Packers keep moving the chains and who knows what happens

--Kevin Smith's fumble gets ruled a fumble and the game changes quickly early

--Kuhn's phantom hold on the long Jermichael Finley play gets called correctly

--Tramon Williams easy pic-6... probably the simplest pic-6 you will ever see gets caught

There's a million things that happen in a game that determine the outcome... pending on what homer side you are on...

Bottom line... the Packers were up 24-0.... Cobb catches that easy touchdown pass on a beautifully ball thrown from Rodgers and its even worse...

Detroit did absolutely nothing all day until garbagetime.... that's a fact, Jack...

On their home field, with their loud crowd, playing in their Super Bowl.... against a ragged, tired Packer team coming off the last of 3 games in 11 days...

It's not going to get any better for Detroit.... sorry :(

If you're a pro, what will be the Super Bowl matchup?

WTF? What momentum? How many points did they score with Kevin Smith in the game? They could have Adrian Peterson or Arian Foster back there and they would've still ended with 0 at the half.

Great RB or no RB, fact is Detroit is not very discliplined. They commit stupid penalties at the worst time, penalties that end up being drive killers and end up costing them at least 3 pts.

Maybe they would've eventually scored, but it's not like Morris played horrible. Dude was finding holes and doing well in the passing game. Kevin Smith wouldn't have made much of a difference when they were down 24-0.

Funny how I call myself a pro? Sure looks like I know a lot more about the game than you though.

Super Bowl's gotta be Packers against Steelers/Ravens (Can't decide which team though)
