Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted September 6, 2012 Horrible move with him as your #1. Hope you have great RB's and QB. He's a #3 option now behind Cruz and Bennett. Sucks for you. Maybe you could trade him yet to someone who still believes in him for pennies on the dollar.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted September 6, 2012 Should we be worried about Hakeem Nicks for this year? Someone please make me feel better about this. Well I was a bit worried about him staying healthy all year. Didn't draft him in any leagues. Without any setbacks or more injuries I think he will be fine. He just came back don't forget and was supposed to be limited during the game.

t-birdie 8 Posted September 6, 2012 I think after the very first game of the season between two rival teams where anything can happen, it's safe to say that Hakeem Nicks' career is over and your entire fantasy season is a complete bust. They should also start making room for a giant golden bust of Kevin Ogletree in Canton. Maybe push Jerry Rice's bust into a storage room or just can it completely. Better yet, they can melt it down and use the base material to help forge Kevin's. I think they're discussing re-naming the entire place "The Kevin Ogletree Football Hall of Fame" at this point. They'll probably devote a wing or two to him.
FeelingMN 273 Posted September 6, 2012 Nicks will be fine. It was basically his first game action in several months. Had to expect some rust. The Giant run game didn't look like anything special. That coupled with what looks like another loose secondary might mean plenty of shootouts for the Giants this year. Plus, maybe the Cowboys are pretty good on defense. Looks like they have one of the better CB tandems in the league. The worst thing you can do now is panic. Don't do it.

mgs316 14 Posted September 6, 2012 I know, most receivers never have roller coaster scoring, they are pretty consistant week in and week out. Nicks sucks.
killersquids 3 Posted September 6, 2012 I would be concerned with the entire giants offense. Maybe they turn it around in 5-6 weeks, but then your fantasy season is almost half over. If you can pick up a high upside #3 wr for nicks or cruz, do it. If you don't have any takers, I would throw witten in to sweeten the deal. Your sacrificing your TE depth, but improving your starting WRs. It's worth the risk that your #1 TE stays healthy.
Nathan Smith 0 Posted September 6, 2012 I think that freaking out over the 1st game, is just about the worst thing you can do. The guy has not been practicing/playing, and also was being covered by Claiborne. Not to mention that Eli could not get any time in the pocket. I think people will look back at this game, and realize that the Cowboys defense is getting really good. Nicks will be fine
kutulu 1,552 Posted September 6, 2012 Cruz was the one dropping more balls then me on your moms face. Hicks looked fine to me...what didn't was Eli running for his life constantly. Also, the cowboys new CBs (Carr and the rookie) looked very good...glad I waited forever in my auction draft before grabbing the Dallas defense for a buck

jerryskids 5,213 Posted September 6, 2012 For what it's worth, I passed on Nicks for Harvin in my main league. Part of it was I think Harvin is in for a big year, but another part is I'm concerned a little about his foot. It sounded like he had a Jones fracture, although I never heard that term used. I know because I had one last November, including a plate, 4 screws, no weight for like 8 weeks, then a walking boot for a few weeks. A "regular" break (higher up the bone) would have been just 3 weeks in a cast with no weight. For me, the plate was really painful afterward so I had it removed a few weeks ago. I still have compression tape to avoid swelling. Of course, he is an elite athlete, and I'm a 45 yr old weekend warrior. And structurally, there was nothing I wasn't allowed to do after the walking boot. But he may be playing in pain all year. That being said, I wouldn't panic just yet. He is an elite receiver, and as others have said, he's just getting his legs back under him now.

On the Giants play from scrimmage where Nicks broke loose down the sideline and Eli threw a nifty 40 yarder over the top, had this been last years Cowboys he would have been off to the races. This time though, safety came over the top, window closed so tight the Giants were just happy the ball went out of bounds. I knew it was gonna be a long night after that. kicked in the zombos 0 Posted September 7, 2012 If its not a ppr league, nicks is a fine #1 if you got a stud qb or drafted a TE. But as others have said, this week 1 overreaction is funny. Ogletree craziness. Guys going nuts for #3 receiver and #4 option on his team. I bet next week Ogletree has 4 catches for 36 yards and Nicks grabs 2 TDs. shutdown 40 Posted September 7, 2012 Should we be worried about Hakeem Nicks for this year? Someone please make me feel better about this. Sun 12/11 vs MIN 3rec 29yds 0TD A certain "elite" WR posted this statline in a game last year. Even the great ones don't play great every week. WR Guru 31 Posted September 8, 2012 It's always hilarious to read the ridiculous overreactions to week 1 performances- good and bad. It's one of the annual highlights of fantasy season. Look, the Giants were rusty as a team, and Nicks in particular had very little preparation for week 1, having been rehabbing a broken foot all summer. He was not even a lock to play at all until a few days before the game. Relax. The Giants will not go 0-16, or be held to 17 points and 200 yards passing every week. FeelingMN 273 Posted September 12, 2012 Hakeem Nicks (foot) did not practice Wednesday. It's mildly concerning considering the Giants have been off for a full week. However, Nicks' absence is likely a case of maintenance rather than a sign of a setback. He played 53-of-57 snaps in the opener and said his foot emerged feeling reasonably strong. Keep an eye on practice reports from Thursday and Friday. ~Rotoworld I know a lot of vets don't practice on Wednesdays, but this dude hasn't practiced much at all this year. Would be nice to see him out there.
