Canadianfan 76 Posted November 3, 2012 I've been waiting for this guy to become the lead back since he was drafted and finally we're going to have a chance to see what he can do. What do you expect from him going forward? Also, since its pretty much a given that DeAngelo will be gone next year, where would you rank Stewart in a re-draft? IMO, I see no reason why he wouldn't be an automatic top 10 and possibly a top 5. Carolina homers what do you think?
BobSanders_33 127 Posted November 3, 2012 I see plenty of reasons why he won't be a top 10 back. 1). Has suffered through ankle/foot injuries his entire career. 2). Offense is not set up for running 3). QB steals TDs on the goal line. 4). D can't stop keeping people from scoring.

lesjroza 70 Posted November 3, 2012 I think that continued hope is warranted for next year, possibly with a new GM, head coach, offensive coordinater, and a rebuilt Oline. It is certainly OK to be hopeful for the rest of this year too but don't forget that he was the featured RB these last 2 weeks. 10 rushes for 35 3 rec for 11 17 rushes for 42 4 rec for 38 no TDs either week His schedule gets easier, but as is pointed out above he has to deal with Cam at the goalline and I have a feeling Tolbert is option #2 at the GL. There aren't alot of stud RBs though so he might be underrated relative to the quagmire of other guys at RB for the rest of this year but don't let yourself get too hyped. Another thing is that he has chronic lower leg issues which have not been tested as a true feature RB. We have no idea how he will hold up as "the man". Canadianfan 76 Posted November 3, 2012 He's been the lead back for 2 weeks now. How does it look? It looked good against 2 strong defenses. Panthers we're in both games and should have won the second. Schedule gets easier.

Not saying the situations are the same but regarding #3 Alf is having himself a monster season and McCoy has done so as well with Vick stealing tds. For whatever a mobile QB 'steals' they often make up for in running lanes. Now if Carolina and Cam can just get their head out of their ass.

gpann101 32 Posted November 4, 2012 CAR needs to open up the passing game which will help the ground game. It worked last year.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted November 4, 2012 Iv had this bum on the bench all year, glad to see he has some value now but I'm not holding my breath. Currently starting fitz over him at flex.
Matt Mueller 148 Posted November 4, 2012 Figures Dwill gets a TD. Have we all been fooled? Give us something in the 2nd half.
Busted by the Feds 9 Posted November 4, 2012 I should've started LeShoure at my flex now, not Stewart . Ah, well .
p00h 85 Posted November 4, 2012 vultured! They have committed to the run more than in the past, but they're still rotating guys in and out, and Cam is still a mega vulture. JStew is not worth crap. It's still business as usual where either of the 2 backs can be productive any given week, but you'll pull your own hair out trying to figure out which one which week... Busted by the Feds 9 Posted November 5, 2012 That it. Not believing what the Carolina coaches say anymore . I'm sitting Stewart until I see that he can go over a 100 yards rushing and can get a TD . No matter how many press cons they say he's the featured back now, they're lying .
Skinny_Bastard 159 Posted November 5, 2012 The running backs just aren't given enough carries PERIOD. Even with a victory this past weekend, Dwill, Stewart and Tobert got a combine 19 carries. Cam will run on average 5-8 times a game. If i have to take a guess, the RB for Panthers are given a combine 16 carries between them a game. There simply aren't enough crumbs to feed the cat. WR Guru 31 Posted November 5, 2012 I almost drank the Kool Aid and tried to trade for Stewart last week. Glad I didn't. More of the same from that clown show, despite whatever the coach says. Stewart is nothing but the lead RB in a 4-back (including Newton) committee on a weak offensive team.

Canadianfan 76 Posted November 5, 2012 Once again I have fallen in the Jonathan Stewart trap. Carolina RB's are useless in fantasy football and always will be. It's very unfortunate because J-Stew is a hell of a runner, but his career will rot on that team. Very sad.
TennisMenace 156 Posted November 6, 2012 10 touches and one pass is very very disturbing. I'm not sure why I drafted this guy? I knew not to trust this time share.

berven 0 Posted November 6, 2012 Stewart is a talented RB--and so is Williams for that matter--but the offense is built around Newton. I don't picture Stewart ever being a workhorse for CAR. I also think we'll be seeing more of Williams, since I believe the real reason the Panthers were sitting him so much was because they didn't want an injury to damage his trade value. He knows what happens to rbs that are bell cows their entire careers. He is rich and takes half the punishment that guys like peterson and turner take. Matt Mueller 148 Posted November 18, 2012 Figures he scores his first rushing td against one of the league's toughest run Ds while on my bench.
Busted by the Feds 9 Posted November 18, 2012 Was the TD just a fluke ? I still need to see him get 100 yds. rushing and a TD before it's safe to start him every week . Still too much competition for the ball in CAR .
kflo 0 Posted November 24, 2012 I am a Stewart owner in a dyansty league and I know he has top 5 running back talent but I am totally disappointed with his production since he has been named 'the feature back'. I dont think its him though thats the problem. He hasn't lost a step or all of a sudden sucked. It's the system. The run game was on point with John Fox but sucks since he has left. I wish Stewart was the one on the trade block or getting cut and not Williams. Stewart needs wither a in system that is run first or he needs a trade I just dont see him fullfilling his top 5 back talent with the Panthers. Maybe top 20 in that system but not top 5. pee-diddy 27 Posted November 24, 2012 I'm wondering the same thing? Stewart usually has one huge game or two each season. Maybe this will be it
MDC 8,066 Posted November 24, 2012 I am an Eagles fan and picked up Stewart just to play him as a flex on MNF. Philly's D has been atrocious over the past month or so. I fully expect them to lose and for J Stew to put up a very good game especially in PPR formats.

Starting him out of necessity, but feel a bit better about it now. 15 carries and 3-4 receptions are not out of line. Should make for a decent game if you don't have strong RBs

TennisMenace 156 Posted November 25, 2012 is anybody going to give him a start this week Monday night against Philadelphia... maybe a flex? I have my choice here - JStew, BBrown, ABrown, or Sproles. All 4 have issues. But, I'm 4-7, so does it really matter at this point? I'm leaning toward BBrown, but I have two days to ponder it.
