Recommended Posts

these teams i see on here with every team stacked is crazy

once i played in a 12 man league i never looked back

i'd rather play in a 16 team league than 10 team. i think there is more skill involved in the draft.

You're right there is more skill involved. However a lot of people can't find enough people for a 16 man league. Or something like what happened in one of my leagues this year happens. We had 12 people for our league and 4 of the are getting deployed (we are all military) so they could not play and we ended up with an 8 man league. It's still fun because you can still talk crap to each other and still have a competitive league. It's all about the persons preference. I'm sure people who think guys who play in 16 teams are a joke because you're looking at backups to draft who might get some playing time to score you points. Some people see no fun in that just like you see no fun in 8 and 10 team leagues who have rosters of good players on it

Who cares? Play in leagues that appeal to you. Why should it matter to anyone else whether you "take them seriously" or not?

10 teamer right here

Why stop at 12? Too much a pusssss for 16 or be a real man and play 32 teams.

Play what's fun for you. I don't think anyone cares if you don't take anyone seriously if 2 less people than you want are in their league.

Hell if its a 2 team league I could have fun. Its all an equal playing field

One of my leagues is a 10 teamer

That means I don't have your respect

The simple mind looks only at the number of teams in a league. IF the OP were smart enough, he/she/whatever would also look at roster requirements and scoring.

I've seen my league, I've played my league, I've won in my league. They're friends of mine. And you're not worthy of my league.

And, WE don't take YOU seriously!

2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 W/R/T, 1 K, 1 DEF, 5 IDPs, and only 6 bench.

You determine your level of respect for people based on how large their league is? That's like a guy with a small cack talking about how big his is.

I can't imagine how much you loath people who don't even pay fantasy football.

The OP's fantasies require 2 more dudes than the rest of us. That is cool... Whatever floats his boat.

I play in a 36 team league. I can't take the NFL seriously with their meager 32 team league.

I've played in 10, 12 and 14 team leagues. I prefer 12 or more, but for a different reason. While it does require more work, the "who to start?" decisions are easier. If your team is stacked, having to choose one WR1 over another WR1 is not fun.

Definitely more second guessing yourself week to week in smaller leagues.

I also prefer bigger leagues, 12, 14 and even 16. Today's fantasy football has taken a lot of the skill out of it. Every website you draft on has "expert" rankings that allow even the newest FF player a good shot at fielding a decent team. Every FF website has almost immediately up to date information and content that requires very little effort to get to. Today fantasy football seasons are made or broken on the waiver wire and on understanding of the game...ie coaching and personnel changes. The bigger leagues require you to know a lot more than the smaller leagues do, and therefore tilt it somewhat back toward the guys doing their homework.

I have been in a 12 team league for 20 years.

However, for a decade I was in an 8 team league as well and it presents its own unique challenges. Since every team is stacked, its tough to consistently win. You have to have an amazing draft to dominate the league. Every week the games were close.

In my 12 team league we have teams quickly turn to garbage once the injuries roll in. THat's not the case in an 8 team league. Each week is a battle all season in an 8 teamer. Then there is the bye week issue you don't worry about in an 8 teamer. I've gotten easy wins facing a bye week dismantled opponent in my 12 teamer. There are rarely gift weeks in smaller leagues.

Someone tell Mike to start a suicide watch on all us 10 teamers since we don't have the respect of everyone here.

...mockingly says the guy who puts his 10 team roster in his signature

I played in a 6 man league once, but you had to start like 6 WR and 4 RB every week, it was kinda nuts. Still wouldn't ever do it again. 12 man is the perfect league size.

My league has fluctuated between 12 and 14 over the years, but I don't think there's anything wrong with 10 team leagues for newbs or casual owners who don't feel like studying backups of backups and super duper deep comatose sleepers. For more serious owners, yeah, 8 and 10 team leagues are probably not quite challenging enough when you have starting-caliber players all over the waiver wire.

I play in 64 owner triple dynasty anti-keeper league that requires an owner to field a full NFL team, MLB team and NHL team.

Our starting lineups are QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/DST/K/1B/2B/3B/SS/OF/OF/OF/SP/SP/RP/RP/C/F/F/D/D/G/ a RB/WR/SS/G flex a QB/TE/OF/D flex and a DST/K/1B/Coach flex.

Our bench is 20 players deep. Buy in is $25000 a season, and roster transactions cost $1000 a piece.

Also, just before the draft we all sit in a giant circle in order of the previous years standings and we get to remove two players from the owner sitting to our left (odd years) or right (even years). The anti keeper rule. Next year we are thinking of expanding, possibly into MLS.

We have a full minor league system, consisting of 128 separate owners divided up into A, AA ,AAA. and AAAA We play full relegation rules. The top two teams in each minor league are promoted to the next higher league next season. The last two finishers in the "Majors" get relegated to A and have to start completely over.

The season lasts 365 days. We also draft a franchise offseason, and we get scored on things like player acquisitions, offseason arrests, and positive/negative press.

Anything less, and you may as well get you ladyparts waxed and join the PTA

League size really doesn't matter. You can make a 10 team league or even a 8 team league very competitve/skillful with deeper starting lineups.

A 10 team league that starts QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, and D is going to have a lot of stacked teams.

But if that same league starts QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex, K, and D; the league just got a lot more competitve/skillful.

Add a 2nd QB, additional flex spot, and/or IDP's and you could take it a step farther.
