*** Thursday night -- Browns vs. Bengals ***

Recommended Posts

Somehow, I knew Cleveland would run the ball well, West would get the start (and do a good job with his carries) and I'd still get screwed. West was apparently so tired after taking the first four carries of the game that he needed to get pulled on Tate's TD run. He begins the Browns' second TD drive and then it is Crowell's time (I guess?) At this rate, Cleveland is going to run the ball 48 times and no one is going to be overly productive.

I've said this before and I'll say it 100 times more. When a coach tells us he's going to go with the "hot hand" in the backfield, he's basically admitting to me that he cannot evaluate the position and has no idea who his best running back is. Linebackers do many of the same things as running backs (find the hole, avoid "trash" and initiate contact), but no one ever talks about the hot hand at that position. Coaches talk about wanting their backs not to rush things or "hit the home run", yet playing games with their playing time only encourage them to maximize every run and try to hit the big run.

As far as the Browns' backfield tonight, I have no idea how a back can get going or how a coach can evaluate their performance with the shuttling that went on in the first half. :wall:

Or, they could all score.

Law, I get to be a fan on Thursday nights and an analyst the rest of the time :P

As bad as Carolina looked last Thursday, Cincinnati has been that much worse. The Bengals' offense looks as bad as any one I can remember this year.

I realize I'm in trouble now that I'm hoping Sanu can get a reverse called for him. Or maybe he can play qb.

Damn. I've used CLE DST last 3 weeks but dropped them for DEN this week. :(

After underwhelming against the Bucs, Jags and Raiders, I gave up on them this week too. Now all of a sudden they are playing like the '85 Bears.

Yeah. Cincy is on the "fast" track to being added to my list of teams to target for streaming defense against. Their O is right there with the likes of Jax, Oak, the NY teams, etc.

Sad.

so the first place bengals in a huge home division game against a team last against the rush after just having a huge performance by your rb decide to sling it with Dalton on a windy night.

Best post of the thread. They're having success tonight with this three stooges multiple chairs act, but no NFL RB could ever get into a rhythm or settled into a feel for the game running in this jackasses offense. At this point, he could pick any of the three. And I certainly don't see one of them as blatant or obviously ahead of the other two. Tate maybe a little slower burst, but Crowell and West look pretty tightly matched.

You can tell coordinators or coaches are not good at their jobs when they abandon a successful gameplan when their team gets behind a little. Not saying Cincy had a great offensive start, but this game reminded me of the Bucs game last week. Rainey was killing Cleveland on the ground in the first half and got 4 carries in the second half. There are a lot of scared/stupid people calling plays in the NFL.

Totally.... They were only down 14.... They called 2 running plays out of 4 in there first possession.... And got a 1st down (solely on those 2 plays). They have ran it once more for an 11 yd gain and another 1st.... All passing plays the rest of of em...

They should all be fired....

anyone remember ty detmer? Dalton is reminding me of him tonight.

Nah, come on man... I think that was 7 Ints in one game. That performance was one for the books.

Dumbass Sims just said they took Dalton out of game because they want to protect him. Why the hell would the Bungles want to protect Dalton from injury?

You'd think they'd wanna get him injured as fast as possible...

Crowell staying out of the picture because of fumbling is key for west. Crossing and west both looked decent. Tate is meh. I could go with west with just tate as competition. Keep fumbling crowell. Keep fumbling.
