Pats lose 1st Round pick. Brady suspended 4 games.

Kraft claims they did nothing wrong, but canned the two equipment mgrs involved.

Why fire people who did nothing wrong, Robert?

I hope these two come out and sell their story to TMZ or somebody.

I hope they do, it could clear the Patriots and Brady, likely not tho. I suspect any book they put out would be damning. I also expect that they would be too fearful to do so. The Patriots have demonstrated that they will attack the truth at every turn, lord knows what they might do to these two.

Attack the truth and fearful - fearful of what? Hell they've already been fired, already been thrown under the bus - they have nothing to lose.

Imagine you are Tom Brady, Bellicheat or Krafty and you have put yourself out there, claiming over and over you knew nothing, using pathetic excuses and behaving angrily as if injured.....what might you do to avoid these two outing you? how far might you go?

Look at the way Pat's fans behave here on the forearm, have reacted to all this, what might they do if you were to out their people?

I have a feeling Kraft and the boys will pay them off not to write that book. The Pats want to avoid the truth coming out at all costs. Who knows what other little tricks they play that no one has discovered yet?

Fun quote from an article.

And with Brady, one now legitimately wonders, exactly how long has he been cheating, and how much has he gained from it? Hmmmm. Prior to the 2006 season, the NFL stipulated that the home team supplied all of the game's footballs. But after much lobbying by a quarterback group that included Brady, the rules were changed to allow each team to supply its own balls, which would have enabled him to have the balls deflated, making them easier to handle.

Before that rule took effect, in Brady's five seasons as a full-time starter, only once did he throw for as many as 4,000 yards, and never did he throw as many as 30 touchdown passes.

But after that rule change , he became the statistics monster that he remains today, throwing for more than 4,000 yards in six of the ensuing eight seasons, with at least 30 touchdown passes in five of those years.

Coincidence? You decide. After Monday, there is a chance that the pages of NFL history have decided already.

I guess Peyton Manning cheats too. Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning as well.

What did Eli do?

Every QB that's been around ten years has seen his stats go way up. It's due to rule changes favoring the passing game, not some crazy ass conspiracy theory tanatastic posted

Everyone loves analogies right?

Say Tiger Woods sneaks in a few unofficial balls in a tournament. They aren't very far out of spec for their uses, and don't really give an advantage...but he likes the feel better. No harm right?

The same people defending Brady would be calling for Woods to be banned.

or say another qb likes them over inflated, tries to sneak them by the ref, hopes the refs don't catch, fake outrage would depend on his coaches personality and success and folks would ignore this blatant attempt to cheat.

If nothing else - the entire football watching world has learned that the NE Pats don't consider cheating a big deal unless it affects the actual outcome of a game. Anyone who disagrees is making a big deal out of nothing and overreacting.

Too bad he didn't do it after the balls were inspired extend and then lie about it.

That huge difference you still can't grasp.

"Hoping the ref doesn't catch it" is like a pitcher hoping an ump gives him a strike call on a pitch that's a but high. Or a basketball player taking too many steps and hoping the ref doesn't call traveling. None of these things are comparable to the Pats taking balls out for the ref's inspection and then sneaking them into a bathroom to take the air pressure below the league minimum.

I haven't posted much on this topic because I don't need too. I'm just sitting back laughing at it all. It's like my two worst neighbors who are fighting with one another. No need for me to intervene, just sit back and chuckle.

Once again Roger Goodell, and the NFL brass licked their finger, put it in the air and felt the public pressure winds and ruled accordingly. I mean something had to be done, but a Millon dollar fine, first round draft pick, AND 4 game suspension is the NFL going overboard again and setting crazy precedents.

Then you have the smug and cocky Kraft, Belichick and Brady doing what they do best. Riding their high horses acting like they are bigger than everyone else and flipping their nose at the league. Dear Pat fans, yes deflating balls isn't "that" big of a deal, what got you guys in trouble was that your ownership, coaches, players and fan base are smug, "we don't answer to anybody" a-holes. And the league doesn't like being one upped in that department.

I find all of this hilarious. I hope it goes to court, there are lawsuits, the whole she-bang.

Outrage? I think all of this is hilarious. The only thing that would give me more pleasure would be when Kim Kardashan and Kanye eventually get divorced and it gets nasty with lawsuits, slander, just gets ugly. We all win!@#! Just like when we see Roger versus the Patriots. The uglier this gets the better. I don't even care who "wins", just as long as they both throw each other in the mud as many times as possible.

Yes it is. Everyone hopes the refs call things in their favor. None of the examples you have given over the past week compare in one tiny aspect to the way your team snuck them off after inspection. I also don't recall lying and a cover up in any other case.

this is what i dont focking get about this whole thing. why even put this sh;t in the teams hands???. the nfl and the officials should be the only ones to supply and take care of the footballs. a case of footballs handled by the officials. is that so focking hard?

You say 'texts' very dismissively. lol It's what the texts said. It's the six phone calls that Brady suddenly decided he needed to make to his new buddy, who he never called before in his life. It's the failure to cooperate. Hiding evidence. It's the fact that the ball boy is known as The Deflator. First off, while you're certainly in the bottom 10% on this board, you're not that dumb. You know what happened. And you know you'd be laughing your ass off if any og the other 31 teams got caught and penalized. You just can't admit it because it just further cements your team as frauds.

This will probably need to be changed again. The league wasn't counting on anyone doing what the Pats did after the ref's inspection.

NFL initially gave Patriots bad information about PSI readings

To no surprise, the 274-page report generated by Ted Wells contains plenty of information. And that information includes some bad information that initially was given to the Patriots.
At page 100 of the report, Wells explains that the January 19 letter from NFL senior V.P. David Gardi to Patriots owner Robert Kraft provided two inaccurate facts to the Patriots.
“The inspection, which involved each ball being inspected twice with different gauges, revealed that none of the Patriots’ game balls were inflated to the specifications required under Rule 2, Section 1,” Gardi wrote. “In fact, one of the game balls was inflated to 10.1 psi, far below the requirement of 12-1/2 to 13-1⁄2 psi. In contrast, each of the Colts’ game balls that was inspected met the requirements set forth above.”
The Wells report notes that not a single measurement of any of the New England footballs reflected a PSI reading of 10.1. In fact, only one measurement of one football was as low as 10.5 PSI.
The Wells report also points out that Gardi’s comments about the Colts’ game balls was not accurate. On one of the two gauges used to test the footballs, THREE of the four Colts balls tested were UNDER the limit of 12.5 PSI.
The Wells report essentially shrugs at these arguably significant misstatements of fact, pointing out that Gardi wasn’t personally at the game (they why did he write the letter?) and that the mistakes were “inadvertent.”
But the errors speak to a potential degree of zeal and desire by some in the league office to catch the Patriots in the act. While the Wells report separately concludes that there was no evidence of bias against the Patriots, two clear and obvious misstatements in the first communication on the situation regarding facts that go to the heart of the case — the air pressure in Patriots footballs and the air pressure in Colts footballs — should at least spark healthy curiosity that someone was out to get the Patriots.
Coupled with the fact that multiple league officials knew about the suspicions and that none of them warned the Patriots or relayed the information to someone who possibly would (such as, you know, Commissioner Roger Goodell), it’s hard not to wonder whether one or more people were more concerned about catching the Patriots than dotting all i’s, crossing all t’s, and ultimately acting in the broader best interests of the NFL.

oops
