Pats lose 1st Round pick. Brady suspended 4 games.

Recommended Posts

This conduct by other teams would have Patriots fans riled up, but they lack the capacity to hold their own team accountable. As you stated, its gamesmanship.....or "everybody does it" ....or "it doesn't matter they would win anyway".....any excuse to avoid admitting the filth their team has become.

nobody here works for any of these teams, what the fock do fans care how there team operates? the only thing that matters is winning the sb

Actually that's quite true. A lot of guys could care less if something like this happened to their team as long as they won the Super Bowl

I'm just glad that an honorable, hard working man like Tom Coughlin came out on top when he faced the crime syndicate of Brady& Belichek. Sometimes there is justice in this world.

If I had to guess, I think that the Patriots agree with this 100%. In fact, I think they have demonstrated this ideal over and over. The fans being the suckers who think the games are legit contests.

This is no different than:

  • Pine tar on a bat
  • Vaseline on a baseball
  • a WR using stickem
  • Wearing cleats that are longer than regulation length

All are worthy of equal punishments.

Nope. Those footballs were checked and cleared by the Refs, then the Patriots doctored them.

Crying? I've been laughing non-stop ever since Obama won his first election and you and your cronies started your whinefest. My laughing doubled when your beloved Cheatriots got caught again. And seeing Patriot Nation come apart at the seems is just icing on the cake.  :first:

Thank you for bringing some sense to this subject.

People just paid $100 to watch Mayweather, the scum of the earth fight. Yet they are up in arms over this? Hilarious.

Don't umps approve the baseball by virtue of pulling it out of their pocket, giving it a lick of approval, and handing it to the catcher?

Then the pitcher doctors it. Right? Did Michael Pineda get 40 games?

Scuffing baseballs has a long history in Baseball. It's an accepted part of the game.

Deflating footballs doesn't, and isn't.

I think you're right. Unlike the Rice situation, they got this one right. Charlie Casserly said they got off easy. He's shocked that Bellichick wasn't suspended. Since Payton got suspended just for being the head coach.

Speaking of, do you think the Saints organization is a bit pissed this morning - wondering how it is their HC got axed for a year and nothing happened to Belichick?

I also suggest that some of the NE fans complaining about this being a stupid rule, re-watch the January 2, 2002 AFC Championship game. Tuck Rule anyone?

Better analogy would be if the equipment guy walked into the umpire's room and doctored the balls then and put them back into the ball bag. Not the same as trying to scuff the ball in full view of the umps, opposing team & manager.

Not if they have any wits about them.

What happened to the Saints was excessive, but we're still talking apples and oranges here. They were intentionally trying to hurt opposing players. Not nearly the same thing.

However they can probably both agree that Goodell and the NFL can go fock themselves with a ten foot c0ck

That's one way to view it.... Another is to view it as Payton was ultimately in charge and responsible for his team's actions, regardless of the infraction. Player injury, deflated balls, whatever it might be.... I tend to fall on the 2nd view - Beliichick should of faced some kind of penalty as well.

The Pats were well aware of the harsh punishments Goodell has been handing out, yet they still chose to cheat. Kinda makes you wonder if they have been doing this for years and thought their cheating system was foolproof.

Point is, crying about harsh punishment for your cheating now just makes you all look like whiny biotches.

That's exactly what Charlie Casserly said last night on NFL Network. Pats and their fans are crying like spoiled children, but they really got off lighter than they should have. Could have easily been 8 games for both Brady and Bellichick.

Agreed.... It's too bad it came to this... It's 2015 and Joe Jackson still hasn't been able to shake the stigma of being a cheater - good chance Tommy and the Pats never do either.

How pathetic is it that this board is far more unset about Brady than they are about the Hillary Clinton email/foundation scandal. It is sad when you hold your athletes to a much higher standard than your politicians.

how many games should have been wiped out over the years due to teams cheating, or players using roids? not many legit games would be recorded

Seeing how the NFL didn't test for roids until 1987 - all games before then would stand.... Since then they have been suspending players caught - so punishment has been handed down, none further needed.

The punishment is really all about Brady being the lead Plaintiff in the players' lawsuit a couple years ago.

Goodell got his revenge. But he'd better be squeaky clean because the gloves are off and the NFLPA is coming for him now. And Bobby Kraft may help them, or at least not help Goodell.

Goodell is fine. He's got Rooney and Mara. That's the real power

Can you go back and be issued a speeding ticket for going 55 mph on a road ten years ago that is now 45 mph?

Roids weren't illegal back then, so no - they weren't tainted.

I think it was bout Brady's defiance and lack of cooperation.... Tommy thought that bcoz he was Tom Brady that he could flick his middle finger at the HMFIC and not get touched - wrong..... And Goodell is safe until the latest TV contract expries - which is in 2022. That deal brought the owners $27billion reasons to keep him around.

Your argument is so incredibly thin and without merit... we are talking fractions of a PSI... and Spygate was a marginal technicality...

The overly dramatic whining is just incredible...

This is BS... the only phones ever confiscated in these investigations are team issued phones... And with all the leaks coming from every angle, no way in hell Brady gives them his personal phone... That is just crazy. Its the leagues fall back position as their 'case' is absurdly thin and doesn't stand on its own... So the argument is just a mishmash of BS>

So cheating by messing with the ball is ok.....as long as there is a storied history of it. Cool

You wake up one morning and you realize that beautiful house your father built was bought with lies and deceit, as you watch him led out in handcuffs. The joy and the innocence is gone. Sure, he's your father and you will always love him and defend him, but it will never be the same.

This is all just a circus to keep the NFL in the headline discussions until we get to training camps... Give an overly harsh penalty that will get talked about after dragging it out months, just to allow another appeal process to drag out and get talked about... And when it gets substantially reduced, guess what...we can talk about this too...

Everyone here had the consensus that a reasonable penalty was maybe a game or two, a late pick and a fine.... But the consensus was also the NFL would go overboard and go 4 games... We all had this pegged immediately a long time ago...

I didn't say that. If they are caught they are punished. MLB has determined what that punishment is. Claiming the two scenarios from different sports require proportionate punishments makes no sense.

Dude, how can you be a lawyer and not tell by the evidence that Brady knowingly cheated? I get the whole homer-thing, but holy fock.

This guy gets it. Make ridiculous demands during your investigation and then when the investigation fails to turn up what you had hoped it would, you can blame the target for "not cooperating."

I am done with the NFL for good. I am canceling the NFL network the minute I get home. I will NEVER give the NFL another dime of my money. This careless over reaction to an obvious sting by the NFL is a disgrace. Unfortunately for the Pats and Tom Brady, they were hung without being able to discuss this joke of a report by a biased entity.

I will never watch another NFL game. Thank goodness the Pats won that Super Bowl, because at least I can enjoy THAT memory as the last memory I ever have of NFL football.

Let the moron haters stew in their victory lap (the punishment), I'm done. Deleting my Twitter account because I don't want to read any more about this. All I can say to the NFL the non Pat's fans is go **** yourselves and I hope you suffer horrible misfortunes.

I've been a football fan since I was a little kid in the late 60's and early 70's, and I'm very depressed that a 40+ year love affair that I had with the NFL is now over. Fair warning to anyone out there that gloats to my face (in person), you will be sipping your meals through a straw for several months.

Honestly, I don't even care if this punishment gets appealed, though I feel Brady and the Pats will take it like the little #####es they are. I damn them to hell forever if/when they do. I don't care what happens anyway, it's over.

For the people here, thanks for the 10+ years of enjoyable conversation, this is the best message board on the Internet, and everybody here deserves much better than the over zealous punishment the NFL handed out today based on no proof. Best of luck to everyone here. I won't be around anymore except to congratulate you if the Pats win again next year.
