Strike 6,017 Posted August 12, 2015 This is a great thread. I'm in India for work so this is my only real form of communication to the outside world. I guess there's e-mail. In any event, if one of you asshats, errrr nice people, could let Artista know I'm thinking about her and glad to hear things are going as well as they are it'd be greatly appreciated. TIA.
Mookz 1,374 Posted August 12, 2015 Awww, stfu . You mess with JK, your messin with me Also, for the CN update, we did morse code for 45 minutes tonight. Bro left today, she's very sad about that, but what's pretty cool is that her bro was completely floored about how much some of us asshats really care about her. Obviously, she hasn't let him seen this massage bored, but some of you faggits have really made a good impression on him. You know who you are. #persianbreastsmatter Should we call her Arisa from now on?
gocolts 300 Posted August 14, 2015 Just talked with our girl. Everything still about the same, NO SETBACKS. Pain level might be leveling off too a bit. Just some general discomfort, pressure, and tiring easy for the most part. She sounded really good and positive. No internet any time soon though, that is just difficult for her at this time. Hard to get comfortable while doing some interneting. I did forget to tell her your message Strike, sorry bro. Send her an email, I think she still checking that. wiffleball 4,797 Posted August 14, 2015 And he hasn't even seen one of wiffle's occasional full retard drunken meltdowns where he gets all anti Semitic and whatnot. I love the semites. Now, the Jews are another story... Lol
wiffleball 4,797 Posted August 14, 2015 He's got over 5000 posts. On an unrelated topic, you can suck a dik, BB. A big, fat dik. Mine, obviously, but you have to fly out here to do that. And exactly how many threads has he actually started? Exactly How many times, if ever has he ever added any content Or even the funny? He's nothing more than the board's designated troll.

Artista 460 Posted August 15, 2015 Errrrr, this thread is slipping.... Thanks everyone for your support, and to those who called/texted Bro, he loves all of you and thanks you all very much as well. I'm trying to sit up straight more per my surg, which is very uncomfortable. The tissue expanders plastics placed is stifling tight and there are the edges that are up against the skin- very tight. Then I have a cammy on top. Also if that wasn't enough, 4 drains- 2 on each side---for another 3 or so weeks. Stopped Norco and no diff so not going to take it anymore. No prob sleeping, do that a lot. Saw cutie surg today for po. He upped my stage from IIa to either IIb or IIIa. Tumor they saw was 4 cm on film. Pulled out 7 cm. Final path showed 1 node has microscoptic traces of cancer cells so it wasn't an all clear. I'm trying not to read about those who were low stages that come back 5 years later stage IV mets but this not completely clear has me a bit 7 cm is huge and due to location, possible more cells are out there than what they can tell on tests. So it's more aggressive chemo for me and I have an appt next Fri to see the rad onc again as looks like I'll have to do rads after chemo. Anna my bff here has been busy with her sis who was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and not long to live, so I've been on my own since Tues when Bro left. I'm not telling him about my stage being upped. He looked like a hot mess when he left Tues. Anyway, must sit back now away from computer as I almost can't breath leaning forward with these damn tissue expanders (TE). Thank you all again.

Artista 460 Posted August 15, 2015 Take care Art...mom always sad those drains were awful. Has been about 8 or 9 years cancer free now. Thanks, and so happy for your mom! Do mind sharing what stage and grade she was? If not, cool. I understand privacy. I have created a get up in button down housecoats or button down pj tops where I bought stick on pockets and stuck them on, one on each side and then reinforced it by a train of large safety pins as these suckers can get heavy. So the drains are in it, and not dangling. But yeah, pita.

Artista 460 Posted August 16, 2015 Good to see you're feeling better. All I those good vibes sent your way must have worked. Thanks OM! Yes, I believe positivity from myself and all you guys did help. Have to try and keep it up as my staging was upped and with all this discomfort with the TEs and tension/digging in areas of my tissues from it, it can be hard to keep up. Artista 460 Posted August 16, 2015 Yikes pancreatic for your friends friend. That's an awful one. Get well soon. Curious, what are the drainers draining? Thanks Tan! Yeah. BFF's sis.. The worst cancer so I don't even talk about my stuff to her anymore.. The purpose of the drains is to keep fluid from collecting at the incision site. If it collects, bacteria can form and with that comes infection. Anytime you go in and stir things up so to speak with tissues, excess fluid forms which is a collection of blood, lymph and other bodily fluids. I had both breasts removed and then tissue expanders (basically flat implants) placed in under my skin and pecs. Lots of stirring things up in there. It's pretty gross but I've worked the medical field so it doesn't affect me. Just a pita to lug in my pockets... If you really want to see what's in me, here's a diagram... http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/surgery/reconstruction/types/implants/what-to-expect

mighty_thor 115 Posted August 16, 2015 I hope everything turns out well for you. Cancer has hit me hard in the past 9 months, with the two most important women in my life both diagnosed. My sister was basically given a death sentence in November with cancer all through her body, she is taking Chemo and just trying to keep it from spreading more. She is doing ok right now. The cancer is not effecting her yet. It's the chemo that wears her down. But she probably has a maximum of 5 years and likely less than that. My wife found out she had breast cancer about a month and a half ago. She is scheduled to have surgery on the 24th. A full masectomy of one breast. Then a Latissimus Flap breast reconstruction of one breast and some plastic surgery on the other to make them even. She has a very large cancerous mass in one breast. They took six biopsy samples and found that it was all noninvasive cancer. but the Doctor said it was such a large mass that they could not be certain if it was all noninvasive. they won't know until they take a lymph node sample on the day she gets her masectomy. Then we will wait another couple of days to find out if it is invasive (spreading). The Dr said there is an 85% chance that she will be cancer free after the surgery. You sound very brave in your battle. Keep it up. My sister and wife have both been very strong as well.
Artista 460 Posted August 16, 2015 Oh MT, so sorry to hear about your sis and wife. I will pray for both of them. I highly highly recommend your wife to check out breastcancer.org. It's very comprehensive in info and the forums are such that you can connect with women who have the same thing you do as bc is so wide based from the stages to the grades, invasive, not invasive, ER/PR+? All this stuff makes you She will not find all the answers from docs and providers. There simply is not enough time in the appts to do so. And I find that many don't know because well they haven't been through it. So that website is the most valuable tool I have ever found. I've been to classes, and 1:1 with an onc nurse, etc and nothing compares to that website. I highly recommend she sign up and join in the convo. Create her profile with her diagnosis details as you know now and make it public so others can see and connect with her more if they see they are in the same boat. It's annonymous so you can feel free to ask whatever questions. The women are so very kind and compassionate. Many have stayed even though they are beyond bc just to help us out who are going through it. Since your wife is having sx in Aug, I suggest she mark this thread after she signs up as one to follow: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/91/topic/833382?page=1 I'm Artista928 in there. It's great support. I also found it valuable to read the July 2015 sx thread of those who went ahead to see what they found, tips, etc. You wouldn't believe little details that you don't think of, at least I didn't and I thought I did pretty good with research. These are real women in the trenches. Another valuable thread is the shopping list: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/91/topic/699896?page=31#idx_907 I didn't get everything but you can kind of see what will be needed. She's lucky she has you. I'm on my own so I had to really glean more than maybe others that can just send someone out to get this and that. There is also a link in my sig to my journey thread on jr's board. It's not all bc stuff as I didn't want to make it all about that but some tips I found are in there that can be scrolled through. If you or her ever want to contact me, feel free to pm me. Best wishes to both of them, and to you and your fam. XO

I did check out some forums for her when she was wondering about the breast reconstruction surgery. I told her she should sign up but she didn't want to. She is a very anxious person and the type of person who would focus on the one negative post within 100 positive posts. So, I didn't push her to join because I'm not sure if it would just make her more anxious. I do feel like we have been rushed with the doctors. We really don't know what to expect as far as how long she will be in the hospital and what to expect at home. I'm planning on taking a week off and then maybe some half days off the following week to help take care of her. But I don't know about dietary restrictions or how long before she can get around. I'll have her check out some of the links. Thanks again and good luck.
