KSB2424 3,173 Posted September 11, 2015 Where is the 10 page thread on that blatant, actual, proven cheating? Did the Falcons appeal it? Or was it found and punished and over with rather quickly? It's a bad analogy Ed. There was a multi-page thread on Ray Rice, Adrian Pederson, Greg Hardy. All NFL stories that drug out over weeks and months. The Falcons thing was cut and dry and punished and done.
RLLD 4,275 Posted September 11, 2015 Foster nailed this one. As long as they’re not in the neutral zone, and they’re not calling out cadence themselves, it’s within the letter of the law. And when they’re in goal-line situations, it’s also a good bet for the Patriots, since a penalty against them would cost inches, while one against the offense costs 5 yards. It’s worth pushing the envelope there. In many ways, it’s like their formation games against the Ravens in the playoffs last year, as their knowledge of the rules is apparently greater than their opponents’, giving them an advantage. In short, they know the rule book better than you do, so don’t complain. This. The Patriots have invested heavily in a thorough knowledge of the rules, not to follow them...but instead to figure out ways to pervert them without being called on it. hoytdwow 202 Posted September 11, 2015 Except for the fact that the NFL controls the headsets, this would be a great add to the Patriot cheating lore. this, and and the fact that the operators shut off the Pats' headsets until they fixed the problem. Magnificent Bastard 192 Posted September 11, 2015 I'm pretty disappointed in Tomlin. Never considered him a cvnt, even when he blatantly cheated on national TV by tripping that return guy. These things happen. But he was sure a sore loser after last night's game. Even his own players were saying it was nothing and they just have to play better. And be COACHED better too, which is what Tomlin's whiny ass would prefer not to talk about. Man up You don't like cvnty players or coaches? Tom Brady is the biggest ###### around. Dresses like one too.

He'd be going apeshit. Running up to referee, getting in their face and yelling at them, jumping up and down pointing at his helmet / headset. Throwing his arms up in the air in a wild tantrum. Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted September 11, 2015 Controlling a headset has nothing to do with what the headset receives. It's called radio jamming and it is what the U.S. did to Cuban radio for 50 years. It's easy. Except when the NFL controls all of the frequencies used at the stadium. This is whining and excuse making at its finest. Belichick had a great comment about it this morning in his news conference.

KSB2424 3,173 Posted September 11, 2015 Except when the NFL controls all of the frequencies used at the stadium. So now asking for the NFL - Stadium to fix the communication issue that happens at Foxboro is not okay? Are you saying this is acceptable in the National Football League? Take the teams out of it. This should not happen in 2015 and it needs to be fixed. Saying so, isn't "whining". All Tomlin said was that it was frustrating - As I'm sure it was. Ray - I'm a Pats slobberer... I know I am... but it's this kind of behind the scenes stuff that puts me in awe of what they do. The ineligible formations, the double pass, Malcolm Butler's interception - you will not believe how much preparation went into these plays - they did know what was coming, they had practiced it all, EXACTLY. Writing about warm drinks and trash cans and stuff like that, it's just a sad commentary and it's gone to a pretty low level. It's sunk pretty deep." "First of all, I would say that I think our program here is built on competition and trying to improve every day and trying to work hard, and it's not built on excuses. And we just try to go to work and improve and find a way to get better...." From earlier in the press conference (about communications last night) "It's pretty common -- there's a lot of stuff down there, there's the coach-quarterback stuff, offense and defense; there's the headsets to the press box; there's a lot of stuff going on there and, you know, we had some problems. Just as an example: We had some problems in the first half and then it seemed to be OK, and then we got to the end of the game and the most problems we had were on our last two possessions on offense and defense. So sometimes it goes along and it's fine, and then for some reason something happens and then you go to the guys on the sidelines -- the blue hats or the purple hats, whatever they're called -- and you tell them about it and they fix it. I don't really know enough about technology to know how any of that works, but that's how it goes. We ended up hard-wiring a couple of our headsets to eliminate the wireless part of it. It's not an uncommon problem. We ended up having to signal some of our plays offensively. We couldn't get them in. We look at it as something you have to be ready for every week, and we practice it -- home, away, I don't think there's really any common denominator on that."

Obviously if this was another team, the press...wouldn't make it a headline. That's on the press, not Tomlin. Being frustrated by the lack of communication is perfectly fine. It's not like Tomlin went on a hour tirade about it. He made a comment in the midst of many comments about all sorts of things. That is not whining. Your angst is misguided. Be mad at the media for making it a headline or be mad at your own team for pushing the envelope on spygate (which they admitted too) so nobody trusts your team and the media jumps on anything anybody says and blows it up. If you are a half-decent NFL coach and, supposedly, there are communications issues in Foxboro "all the time", then wouldn't you be prepared for something like that, especially when you have had months to game plan for this game? If you bring up something like that, when it has supposedly happened before, then that is whining. Of course the press has blown it out of proportion. IGotWorms 4,063 Posted September 11, 2015 According to Belichick last night, Brady's headset was having problems too. And he handled it like a professional, because that's what the Patriots always do. But the dumber folks attribute it to cheating
cbfalcon 827 Posted September 11, 2015 via Steelers.com: From the start of the game through the opening 14 minutes of the first quarter, the Steelers’ coaches’ headsets were receiving the Patriots Radio Network broadcast of the game. The broadcast was so loud that the Steelers coaches were unable to communicate, and the NFL rule is that if one team’s headsets are not working the other team is supposed to be forced to take their headsets off. It’s what the NFL calls the Equity Rule. Strangely enough, whenever an NFL representative proceeded to the New England sideline to shut down their headsets, the Steelers headsets cleared. Then as the representative walked away from the New England sideline, the Steelers’ headsets again started to receive the Patriots game broadcast.

TD Ryan2 316 Posted September 11, 2015 Dam can't anyone lose anymore without making an excuse? no. this is our culture now and it's acceptable. Everyone gets a trophy and if you don't do well on the test it's because you have a condition - diagnosis - it's not your fault. The Steelers lost last night because the headsets didn't work. Djgb13 2,339 Posted September 11, 2015 "The headset wasn't working properly during the first half" "they can't do a defensive shift while I'm calling out my cadence!" Wah wah wah that's all I'm hearing. Never mind the fact that the defense was clueless as hell or the fact that multiple times in the red zone they couldn't punch it in. Had to be something else. "We are playing the patriots? Ok if we lose find something to complain about so people think the reason they won was cause they cheated" seems like what's happening now
RLLD 4,275 Posted September 11, 2015 The Steelers lost because they got outplayed and outcoached. Not the first instance of head sets having an issue, at any level. The only reason people are inclined to look at this game differently is due to the known factor of the Patriots being cheaters, any other two teams and is a complete non-topic. Then as the representative walked away from the New England sideline, the Steelers’ headsets again started to receive the Patriots game broadcast.” The N.F.L. said that the problem was a “stadium infrastructure issue, which was exacerbated by the inclement weather,” and that “once the power issues” were resolved, the headsets worked properly the rest of the game, which was played during periods of intermittent and heavy rain. As I recall, in years past, this does happen all the time so it stands to reason that Tomlin has gone through it before. I know it has also happened at other stadiums as well. Again, any team other than the Patriots and its a non-issue, its only that they are now known as much for cheating as for winning that this is a topic at all.
