Chris Sale - .717 WHIP 1.58 ERA 6.20 SO/W

Clayton Kershaw - .700 WHIP 1.67 ERA 22.00 SO/W

Jake Arrieta - .839 WHIP 1.29 ERA 3.06 SO/W

Real baseball fans know that wins and losses don't matter when it comes to judging a baseball pitcher.

Kershaw is on a historic run for the ages. We all know about his post season record.

I want to know, right now, who do you think is the best? who do you want starting game 7 of the world series?

I'm pretty biased, but I'd have to admit kershaw. I love arrieta, but he will have an inning or two where hes a little erratic.

My brain tells me Kershaw, but my gut hesitates because of the post season body of work. But I'd go with him.

Chris Sale is really coming into his own and is doing this in the american league, I give him the nod.

Sale... Since he isn't trying to strike out everyone, he has become a much better pitcher...

The difference between leagues shouldn't matter.

Snydergaard will be in this discussion in a couple of years if his elbow hasn't exploded by then

I picked arrieta.....but if it was game 7 I might just take kershaw. He's nasty.

Right now in terms of short term run its Arrieta but the best of the three, like if you were building a team or staff around 1 guy it's kershaw.

I chalk that up to him changing his arm slot. His body wants to go back to the old slot and it tosses him off. He catches himself and adjusts back to the new slot.

Interesting note on Kershaw: he was the high school center for Matt Stafford.

Maybe a couple of months. He's got it. 99 mph where he wants it and they can't lay off his off speed. And his off speed is in the 90's

American league pitchers run the bases?

So much interleague play. AL or NL doesn't really factor into my decision

20 interleague games and 142 not

it's almost even.

Gotta go with the numbers...Kershaw

NLCS 7.23 ERA 1.554 whip (3 years, 6 appearances)

not good.

Right, right his playoff disappearance. I should have prefaced current numbers during the regular season. Koufaxish

My issue isn't the era. One bad game can blow that up. The fact that he hasn't gone past 7 innings in any of his post season starts is very Greg Maddux to me.

That wasn't even the same pitcher. I mean, his last 3 regular seasons were miserable, no wonder he did so poorly in the post season

that's ancient history pal

Kershaw is having a great season so far, but I would go with arrieta, or my guy bum (who is not having a wonderful year yet). kershaw can get lit now and then.

I have no idea what that means

What I do know is that right now there is no question who the best pitcher is, it's Kershaw.

regular season, sure.

but I'd like to have a chance in the playoffs, especially when my payroll is 300 million

has he pitched today, is he pitching right now? isn't it all in the past?

if he lets up 6 runs his next start, will you jump from the bandwagon?

if you don't want to count his post-season failures, that's your deal. I'm counting them.

Well...not knowing the other teams lineup, and all things being equal, I'll take an ace lefty more often than not.

Gimme Sale in the here and now

Arrieta is on an unreal run.

Sale has been a top 2-3 pitcher in the AL for about 4 or 5 years, but I think he now stands atop.

Kershaw.....really could be a top 5 pitcher of all time. Maybe the best. Edit: Regular season. Forgot about his bad playoff performances.
