Why most of us hate bicyclists

I never really had a big problem with the wolfpack stuff, its like an "event" so I get it.

 

My issues are with the lone wolves, out on the road and taking up space, making ZERO effort to allow traffic to pass them and make some reasonable accommodation to allow traffic to flow.bikers to

 

 

 

 

Then acting like an arse if you pass too close. Yes we need to share the road, I get that, but there is no need for either the drivers or the bikers to be d!cks to each other.

Agreed but the problem is the biker is going to be the one who has a tantrum if you get within 5 feet... if they don't want to deal with drivers they have other options. Parks, bike trails. Roads on the other hand were built for cars to travel to their destinations

As bad as drivers might be, I have to say I don't routinely see them blowing red lights and stop signs, riding up on the sidewalk, going 25 in a 40 or driving the wrong way down a one way street. That would be unusual for most drivers but it's normal behavior from the ass hole cyclists in my city.

I had no idea what "Critical Mass" meant before this thread. Hell, I've never even heard the term as related to cyclists.

 

Can we just agree that some should die horribly in a bike vs car / steamroller accident and the majority will learn from that and respect the road like some /most of "Truck" drivers do?

 

Sad part is that even the most lawful cyclists on the road today are still at a disadvantage given the general lack of awareness of the common driver today. Worst part

The ride on the last Friday of the month, and if you get stuck by them, you will literally be stuck for twenty minutes to a half hour just watching these go by.

Your subjective impression of safety may not be accurate, at least as it relate to cycling versus driving. But you definitely feel more vulnerable on a bike.

When I was training for an Ironman I rode my bike in the street at a park with a 6 mile loop or a paved trail. I never would ride my bike on roads outside of the park. I don't care what the law says and how much right I have to be in the road. That law isn't going to protect me from getting hit.
