Pit bulls: loaded weapon or misunderstood?

Recommended Posts

Why do these dogs even need to exist. People have the right to own a dog if they want, Why don't they just get  a different one and let the pit bulls die out . Or put in a zoo or something. Let them run free in Africa or something. Whatever.

There are legal separations of a lot of things out there. Street legal cars and motorcycles. Some guns are illegal to own and carry in certain places. Drugs are not all over the counter for reasons.

Just get another dog.

Is it true that pit bulls are dangerous?

Pit Bulls are commonly derided as an especially dangerous breed. Forbes Magazine analyzed data from various dog attacks. They found that in a period between 2005 and 2017, Pit Bulls were responsible for the most deaths to people of any breed. In the stats, Forbes found 284 fatalities during the period.

Hmmm, you guessed it, pit bulls.

We need to kill this entire breed.

Seems to be a thing that all these pit bulls have bad owners. Such a crock. These things are not meant to be domesticated.

It's the same story over and over.  Fluffy was such a nice dog, showed no signs of violence, BAM, eats 2 year old face.

Just went right into the yard and attacked. No provocation. Fock you people that own these things.

Maybe why they don't allow Tigers and Lions in most states. Sort of common sense. :o

Hopefully no GC members have pitbulls...or dogs with a little pitbull in them.

My vet thinks the new pup is a hound / lab mix. He’s definitely got some hound and does slightly resemble a pit in the eyes. My guess is he’s full on mutt with two mutt parents.

Little kid can’t play in the yard without getting killed because some micro loser has to have a bad ass dog. And his mom got to watch it.

Yup. I have told them that to their face a few times. Some of the most selfish people we have.

7 year old girl killed in Garner, North Carolina by neighbors 2 Pit Bulls. They were watching them for the owner. Yeah, it’s only bad owners that make them dangerous. The neighbor must have secretly been training  them to attack little girls.

Pit Bulls Maul Owner to Death in Her Home (msn.com)

Quote

Sara Ondrako, a certified dog behavior consultant who is the founder and CEO of the American Pit Bull Foundation, told Newsweek in June that "pit bull-type dogs are innately no more likely to bite or attack humans, in fact, quite the opposite."

They sure rack up the totals for animals that are innately more likely to NOT attack or bite humans.

Labradors are responsible for more attacks.

Pits are dangerous because they’re really big / muscular and frequently mistreated.

They are most dangerous because they have been bred to have a very severe and dangerous bite.  They attack for keeps. Labs bite and run.

Big thing now is dna tests for dogs. That’s because idiots get a “mixed breed “ pit and then wonder why it’s so aggressive. They do the dna test and find out it’s mostly a pit.

Most people are smart enough not to adopt a pit Bull mix and bring it home with a young kid in the house. In a city no less.

Probably because there are more of them. You are just thinking about other minorities responsible for more attacks.

10 years ago, I would have said there are far more labs and lab mixes out there than pit and pit mixes.  Now, I'm not so sure.  Seems like every adopted dog I see is a pit/pit mix

Not sure.  Just saw a graphic the other day about shark week.   Cows kill about 30 people and sharks kill about 5 every year.  There were other animals on there too.  I believe hippos were responsible for the most deaths.

They are probably counting people hitting them with cars. Which is stupid.
