No no. I'm on the side of thinking a religious ban is anti-American. IMO, its a betrayal of our values and we are going this route because being strong got a bit too hard in this instance.

But putting my personal beliefs aside, I at least see the benefit in the result and understand the other side's viewpoint. It's a legitimate debate worth having......but that viewpoint loses credibility with me when it doesn't include Saudi Arabia, etc. At that point, IMO we are betraying our values and aren't even all that concerned with obtaining the beneficial result anymore.

I completely agree that a religious ban is against everything our country stands for. Luckily I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about a ban on refugees from potential Islamic terrorist companies.

You're a kvnt and a coward. And a pvssy-boy alias to boot.

That's what.

So, the extent of your activism concerning this travesty is to call some strangers names on the Internet. A true patriot.

No no. I'm on the side of thinking a religious ban is anti-American.

As do I. Is that what's happening though? There are Muslims in most every country in the world. Isn't this a short term ban on a few countries and more vetting of Syrian refugees?

A religious test would mean any Muslim from anywhere, No?

Just heard that on CNN. Have heard that on multiple platforms up to now, I imagine we'll hear more of that.

I want to address this in multiple parts. The first part will give the Trump Collective a stiffy, the second post will be geared toward those capable of nuanced thought. The third will talk about the real world efficacy of the so-called "no-fly list" and the fourth? Specifically addresses Trump's specific plan.

Consider yourselves warned.

Oh, and all of this will be done from memory. Been trying to do that a lot more in light of Mom's situation. Scares the bejeesus outta me. So, if I get spelling/minor deets wrong, I'm okay with being corrected. I don't wrap my self-worth in this stuff, it's just a good time waster. :bandana:

The Ohio state kid was a Muslim refugee who committed an act of terror. /thread

I thought i read somewhere that Trump is letting in Christians from Syria, though.

expect severe retaliation shortly. And then tell me how Trump is making us safer.

If something happens, the xenophobes/bigots will always fall back on how bad it would have been if we didn't start banning some them darn muslims.

You should find a refugee that is here and lend them a hand. At least offer them free legal services. You big soft hearted lug.

I've treated plenty of middle easterners, and hung out with my co-fellow from the ME - his wife was a Palestinian refugee. What do I win?

People with green cards are apparently being asked what they think of Trump while being investigated.

Two of the bigger countries that support terrorism aren't even the n the list for this ban.

next time he should ask them if they support Sharia Law, if they think Jihad in the name of Allah is ok....cause most Muslims do, and any that do I could give a less about, and definitely don't need em in this country

Yeah. Iove how he says middle eastern, not Muslim. I'm sure Hawaii gets a bunch of Muslims from war torn areas.

I didn't say that.

I don't think it's smart policy in the war on terror.

But even more, I think it's just plain cowardly. That's the main reason I don't support this move.

So, the next terrorist attack is Trumps fault. That's what this is all about, isn't it? Because it's not like this is a surprise, he said he was going to. Transparent libtards.

And I might add, that the female terrorist in the San Bernadino terrorist attack was not born in the U.S. Not that it matters.

So, when it comes to health care policy we should look to other countries socialized medicine policies and how successful it has been, but when it comes to our policy on refugees we're not allowed to look at how it has worked in countries like Germany. Thanks Libs. Got it!

I would love for someone to put Trump on the spot and ask him what the CURRENT vetting process is and what he intends to add to that.

FIVE seperate agencies (U.S) already vet these guys - including FBI, DHS, Nat'l CounterTerrorism, Defense Dept. and State Dept. - Syrian refugees already get even tougher screening. It takes 12-18 months to get cleared. And all of that is AFTER the UNHCR vets these guys to even be subjected to this scrutiny. - Not to mention, we gather all their biometrics as well.

I would bet you a month's pay that Trump doesn't know that.

I'm not an ideologue (unlike most here). Frankly, I think we should get our financial house in order before allowing in 'Fugees. I think we should make sure every veteran is well taken care of before we let one more person in. However, we're a grown-up country that allegedly can walk and chew gum at the same time - at least that's the argument.

So, let THAT be the argument. Make the argument be about what the current is doing so poorly and what Trump intends to do to improve that. I'D be first in line for THAT argument.

But, picking random countries, excluding other- that HAVE provided terrorists who've acted in the US - makes no focking sense.
Remember when BushJr deployed troops to every airport after 9/11? It made no sense - did no good - but 'he acted'. That's about all this is.

Currently, we're screwing over guys who have literally ridden in Humvees with our troops as interpreters. You don't focking GET tto do that without 'extreme vetting'. - So, what more does Trump intend to do? Specifically please. What OTHER agencies are we going to add to the process? What more questions and/or documents are THEY going to ask that our current National Security Phalanx isn't?

Man, when that becomes the conversation, let me know. But already coming out saying "It's acting beautifully, it's going SO well!" - Uh, really? Have you SEEN JFK, Dulles, DIA, Ohare?

I'm not right or left, I'm just anti-stupid. And there's a helluva lot of that going on this first week. And that's not an "alternate fact".

Please DO educate me. Compare and Contrast the specifics of obtaining refugee status and accompanying Refugee Visas for Germany versus America. Please. Point by Point. Specific by Specific. Agency by Agency.

Because, it turns out, America has a radically different and more stringent process than virtually any non-totalitarian regime in the world.

And Syrians? Can't walk to Amurica. Can't even GET to Amurica without being vetted. Not so in the case of Germany.

No, I DON'T think you "got it".

Amazing. There's a guy who served Ten Years in our Army in Iraq - And he's not allowed to come back to Amurica.

Fan-Focking-Tastic.

If this IS about keeping us safe - and not about Islam? Fine. Let's look at the ethnic group that commits the most violent acts both per capita and overall in America. - And send THEM back home.

- What? It's all about safety, right?
