Holy crap. Thats insane at 102.

Think about it. Even if he misses and doesnt get that kind of movement, its still coming at 102.

Uncatchable unless thrown right to you. The batter missed it by a foot.

Yeah, if you just leave out Hr's and rbi's. Those are outdated, old school stats. Lol. And btw, one of them plays shortstop.

betts leads off, gregorius bats 3rd, 4th, or 5th. betts has more runs, gregorius has more rbis. the hrs are a virtual push.

Didi was also clutch. That doesn't count either I guess, especially when Judge, Stanton and Sanchez weren't getting it done. Oh yeah, one of them is a SS.

it's not that it "doesn't count," posty's point was that gregorius only had an edge in 2 of 9 offensive categories with, one being predictable based on position in the line-up. and i agree the gregorius has been clutch, while betts has consistently set the tone for the bosox.

I was able to go to a game in St. Louis last night. Its a great ball park with good atmosphere, fans were really into the game the whole time. Had grilled onions for the hotdogs in left field, that was awesome.

From the NL side of things, I still can't figure out how Pollock won player of the month... Was it because of his three HR game the last day of the month?

Yes the D'backs are playing over .700 ball and are up 5+ games in the NL West, but it just doesn't look right...

Holy shat... I can't believe the Braves are in first place...

It would be nice to see them be competitive up to the trading deadline...

We'll see. We know the Nats couldn't play much worse in April and are heating up. I predict Nats in 1st place by June. Martinez moving Bryce to #1 and the pitcher to #8 was an incredibly smart move.

I know it is only a matter of time before the Nationals get going, but one thing for sure is that they aren't going to have the amount of players that had career years like they had last year for this season...

Agreed. I would take a healthy Eaton and Rendon playing at 85% of career numbers, Taylor and Zim hitting .250. Adams is the surprise so far, lock him into the lineup and he'll hit 25 homers. I don't understand why he's a journeyman. He has hit every year.

He is really having a good season. Longoria, mccutchen, posey, pence "should" be providing enough run support, but we still see a lot of 0s, and 1s. Thought if they could remain competitive until bum and samardizja come back they would be fine.

so... while floating around .500 and an aggressive timeline of June for madbum, cueto goes on dl with 3w, 26k, .84 era, .69 whip.

Ichiro Suzuki Moves To Front Office Role, Will Not Continue Playing In 2018

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/05/ichiro-suzuki-retire-mariners-front-office.html

The Mariners announced today that future Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki has is moving to a front office role where he’ll serve as a special assistant to the chairman, effective immediately. While the Mariners’ release does not formally declare that Ichiro is retiring, the new role precludes him from returning to the active roster in 2018, per the team. The Mariners have selected the contract of right-handed reliever Erik Goeddel from Triple-A Tacoma to take Ichiro’s spot on the 40-man and 25-man rosters.

“We want to make sure we capture all of the value that Ichiro brings to this team off the field,” GM Jerry Dipoto said in a press release. “This new role is a way to accomplish that. While it will evolve over time, the key is that Ichiro’s presence in our clubhouse and with our players and staff improves our opportunity to win games. That is our number-one priority and Ichiro’s number-one priority.”

Dipoto goes on to add that the Mariners hope to retain Ichiro in some capacity into the 2019 season and beyond, noting that the remainder of the current season will “inform the team and Ichiro on his best fit” with the organization moving forward, though Ichiro’s agent, John Boggs, tells Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic that his client is not yet retiring as a player (Twitter link).

“He is not retiring,” says Boggs. “He’s taking on a different role for 2018, and 2019 has yet to evolve.” Asked by Rosenthal if Ichiro could potentially return to make an appearance next year, when the Mariners and A’s will kick off the 2019 season in Tokyo, Boggs replied: “There is always that possibility. … The future has yet to be determined.”

More to come.

Umps tried to give that one to the Astros. Gutty, gritty Yanks fight back for the win in the Champs house. On to Cleveland.

Fvcking Darvish seems to always implode in the fifth

I have always hated that signing and never wanted him period.

Injury prone wimp. Four trips on the DL. So many miles on that arm from a full career in Japan. Huge choker. Can't overcome adversity.

Cubs should have resigned Arrieta.
