Judge needs to take one in the teeth (preferably a line drive), tired of seeing that ridiculous gap. vuduchile 1,947 Posted April 30, 2018 Meanwhile, The marathon-high pile of ugliness Major League Baseball foisted on the world this April warrants every iota of hyperbole henceforth. The weather was terrible, and the game did everything in its power to match it. Pitchers walked more hitters than any time since the turn of the century and are on pace to set single-season records for the most wild pitches, hit-by-pitches and strikeouts. Hitters, never ones to let pitchers one-up them, are fighting bad with worse. Eight teams are hitting in the .220s, and antiquated though batting average may be, the staunchest sabermetric disciple would agree on the grimness of it all, particularly when three of those teams currently own the best record in their division. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/10-degrees-ugliness-april-baseball-personified-7-teams-pace-lose-100-plus-games-055003266.html
Vince44 208 Posted April 30, 2018 Cubs own Brewers this season. Too bad they can't play them everyday. Darvish and Quintana have looked good twice this season...in their four combined starts vs Milwaukee.
posty 2,848 Posted May 1, 2018 Congratulations baseball?? For the first time in Major League history there were more strikeouts in a month than hits in a month. At the end of April, there were 7,335 strikeouts and 6,992 hits.

I doubt pitching has suddenly gotten that much better after one off season. Im guessing things will even out.

Most don't care if they go 1-for-5 with four strikeouts as long as the hit is a home run...

I was thinking about how people say both the offense and defense of the game has evolved pretty much in step. One of the reasons they say the game is perfect the way it is. But then I started wondering if its really gotten so hard to find the gaps due to the speed of the defenders and the specialized shifts that some of these guys just give that up and swing for the fences no matter what. edjr 7,031 Posted May 1, 2018 Be a heck of pitch though, like Bugs Bunny good. Our Babe Ruth field had cement behind home plate, below where the backing fence was. Can't recall an ump ever getting hit in the ass, but MANY a kid was out at home on a wild pitch that bounced back to the catcher
