Herbivore 911 Posted January 3, 2018 wearing spandex and long hair means you are a hair band I guess kiss is a hair band too Kiss had a hair metal period. Ohh No Tears are Falling!!
edjr 5,591 Posted January 3, 2018 Kiss had a hair metal period. Ohh No Tears are Falling!! Sure did. Crazy Nights is a hair band as it gets 3 albums in 30 doesn't a hair band make. Terrible decision by them to ditch the costumes and makeup for hair spray and spandex.
vuduchile 1,941 Posted January 3, 2018 says the guy that says bon jovi isn't a hair band hilarity at the geek club today folks! I dont find it all that hilarious when you make an ass of yourself. I find it more sad actually. Sorta like when you and newbie insisted Prince was the greatest guitar player of all time. And for those actually paying attention, this is what I said, and its 100% accurate. Bon Jovi isnt really hair metal. They never actually played anything that resembled metal. They were more like pop rockers who also wore big hair and spandex. The difference may be subtle to some, but its there. Carry on.

vuduchile 1,941 Posted January 3, 2018 top 10 hair bands? Hair bands is your term, but good hair metal bands off the top of my head in no particular order: Motley Crue Cinderella Ratt Dokken Quiet Riot Skid Row and G N R were great, but were more successful as the whole hair and makeup trend was wearing off, thus I dont consider them truly hair metal. Id call them hard rock.

nzoner 936 Posted January 3, 2018 Hair bands is your term, but good hair metal bands While I agree with your Bon Jovi take I cannot see the words good and hair metal bands together without at least saying this is why music is so subjective.

vuduchile 1,941 Posted January 3, 2018 They're all good to me, damnit! Too many posers in that era really. I respect any band that can hold it together, write songs and tour, but too much of it just doesnt hold up.

jerryskids 5,235 Posted January 3, 2018 Good point. Of those listed, Quiet Riot was the only one I really listened to. Interesting as I was just about to question Quiet Riot on the list. To me they were more metal than hair if that makes sense, more like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

kutulu 1,552 Posted January 4, 2018 Yah Im thinking Huey Lewis songs might have fell to round 8 at least. Maybe Im wrongTheir early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83,I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.

The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
