(OFFICIAL) *****70's Music Draft***** LOD UP

Recommended Posts

So here is the other song I considered last round; I had a little panic attack when Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was picked, afraid that my song might go. I love WOTEF at least lyrically, but the music is basically the same chord progression for the whole song, in fact a lot of his hits, and musicality is very important to me. But this one is different, and I've mentioned it here multiple times in the past as an example of "they just don't write songs like this anymore." Haunting music and perfectly accompanying lyrics to take you to "a castle dark or a fortress strong"..., inspired by his divorce.

I've got other possibly more popular songs in mind, but I am quite at peace getting Taxi and this song. Keeping up with the folk theme:

12.04 If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot

11.8 Wheel in the Sky - Journey

Another great 70s band that started churning out pure sh!t while taking in big bucks in the 80s.

Journey was the first band I ever saw in concert. Tulsa Civic Center in 78 or 79. They were touring to support the Infinity album. My older brother had just gotten his DL and my grandma telunctantly agreed to lend us her car to take to the concert.

My brother, cousin and I got a guy to buy us a 6 pack of malt liquor and some peppermint schnapps.

We got wasted, went to the concert, and came back out to find out grandmas car was gone. We thought it had been stolen for about 15 min. Then we realized it had been illegally parked. That was a fun phone call to make and an even funner ride home.

Seeing that it's for fun I've been rummaging around in my music vault, just so many songs to choose from.I've got a couple from way back in the vault I'm planning on using but with this group I wouldn't be shocked to see them before I can.

BTO or 10cc?

No this was in response to Zero PM me Bridge over troubled waters as his back up third round pick.

Since he didn't take it in next round I said if I picked it it would be OK - neither of us picked it.

Theres still a band that I cant believe isnt represented yet. I was never a big fan, but I can appreciate what they did, so Ive been toying with the idea of taking one of their hits just because. But its hard to put them ahead of a song I really love.

But the part where I said I dread the draft ending because it will also mean that the time that I've spent with all you guys will be over still stands.

Agreed

I think I know who this is. I have one of their songs on my list, but just haven't been able to pull the trigger for the same reason.

Good song. Maybe it's just me but on the line "Yeah, city folk drivin' in a black limousine" when he sings limousine he really hits a bad note,

Different song. We used to square dance to it in fifth grade. Thats how I got my 2nd gf.

I arranged to line up across from her on day one and that was it. Her name was Maria something. We held hands and pecked each other on the lips.

I need to go back to listen for the sour note now

Youre right. His voice cracks slightly right there.

Theres a Zeppelin song where I swear Page clunks a note on the solo. I wont name it in case someone wants to pick it, but its sorta obvious when you hear it. Sorta weird that they let studio recordings go out like that.

I'm TEK. The others are used for my attempts at creating some hilarity. More misses than hits. Things that make me chuckle for days are met with crickets and things I just kinda throw out there get the laughs. I don't know how comedians do it.

Between yesterday and today I made about $300. Last year I made that on Gasparilla alone. I could have made another 100 or so if I had worked Friday night and didn't get a late start and taken a long break yesterday. I justified not working Friday to resting up for Gasparilla, but honestly I decided that I would rather be here. I haven't enjoyed anything as much as I've enjoyed this for a long time.

It's tough man. So much to choose from. And then deciding what will or won't make it back to you. Fantasy Football guys should understand this. Like I've said before, lots of iconic ballads have fallen because there are so many of them. They are like receivers. They slide because you know you can get one late.

I honestly thought BOTW had been taken a long time ago. But it was the Boxer.
