rottytiny 7 Posted August 20, 2018 Is Golladay a grab now guy? Keeper/dynasty league? Is he worth roster spot over guys like stills, crowder types???
seafoam1 1,879 Posted August 20, 2018 It was mentioned that Golladay played opposite Jones on all 8 two-wide sets they showed against the Giants instead of Tate. Interesting.
Brutal Brutus 182 Posted August 20, 2018 It was mentioned that Golladay played opposite Jones on all 8 two-wide sets they showed against the Giants instead of Tate. Interesting. I think that's how it was last year too. Tate is the slot guy and that's it.
seafoam1 1,879 Posted August 20, 2018 I think that's how it was last year too. Tate is the slot guy and that's it. Makes sense. I guess I haven't watched the Lions much over the past few years. There are a couple teams I tend to just shy away from, but Tate is legit.
Brutal Brutus 182 Posted August 20, 2018 Makes sense. I guess I haven't watched the Lions much over the past few years. There are a couple teams I tend to just shy away from, but Tate is legit. The only reason I know is because I had Tate last year, so I watched pieces of their games at times. I want to like Golladay, I just struggle to see how he takes a big step forward from last year in targets and receptions. I think they run the ball more and throw it less. They only lost Ebron, and Tate is the slot guy, so I don't see Golladay cutting into his targets. The only way Golladay improves his targets is if he takes them away from Jones. It's certainly possible, but I don't see a lot of upside unless Jones gets hurt.
cousinal111 57 Posted August 20, 2018 Should be noted, Detroit rarely runs 2 wide sets like most of the NFL. Probably about 15% of the time if that.
worm 34 Posted August 20, 2018 Should be noted, Detroit rarely runs 2 wide sets like most of the NFL. Probably about 15% of the time if that. I was about to look for a stat like this. Now I'm curious how much that could change with Patricia & OC.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted August 20, 2018 I still don't trust that situation to produce a consistent WR3 even for him. I think his price will drop a bit at some point
cousinal111 57 Posted August 20, 2018 From rotoworld.com "We're just trying to get the play counts out there and we're going in and out of different personal groups, so we have it kind of sketched out that way." The Lions used two-wide personnel on less than 20 percent of their snaps last year, so even if Golladay starts outside, Tate will still get plenty of slot reps. cyclone24 1,814 Posted August 20, 2018 Yeah I'm not biting. This has Dede Westbrook 2017 written all over it.

jimaveli 119 Posted August 21, 2018 Im not buying it with Kenny G just yet. Stafford is a different guy from his Megatron-fueling days, Jones is a good ball player, and Tate/Riddick eat up the cheap and short catches.
We Tigers 71 Posted August 21, 2018 In dynasty the time to grab him was during your 2017 rookie draft, or maybe midseason when his injury turned 2017 into kind of a lost year. I think he will be hard to get now that he's healthy. I personally value Golladay over just about every receiver in this year's class, and about even with Mike Williams and Chris Godwin from 2017. The tight ends the Lions brought in this year--Luke Willson and Levine Toilolo, career blockers and 12-to-20-catch-a-year guys--are highly unlikely to equal the 112 targets that Fells and Ebron drew last year. At 6'4" and as talented as he is, I really think 30+ of those "big guy" targets are going to be Golladay's domain. And don't just look at Ebron for those targets: TJ Jones also saw 2 more targets/game whenever Golladay was out, averaging 5.5 instead of 3.5. I think Golladay has an easy path to 80 targets, and a potential path to 100. And that is largely without much else changing in regard to Marvin Jones and Tate. If someone will sell him to you for your 2nd round rookie pick, take it and run!
LoOnAtIk 75 Posted August 21, 2018 Im not buying it with Kenny G just yet. Stafford is a different guy from his Megatron-fueling days, Jones is a good ball player, and Tate/Riddick eat up the cheap and short catches. Staffords QBR has been better than ever last 2 seasons and if anything he spreads the ball more without megatron. Jones will get hurt at some point and thats when Golladay will be a hot plug and play. Hard to envision him leapfrogging a healthy Jones in the pecking order though. Tate is still the go-to guy and hes only the slot guy in 3 WR sets.
weepaws 2,461 Posted August 22, 2018 I think M Jones is going too have another outstanding season. And I think he’s worthy of a reach. If you go rb rb rb he’s a good wr1.

Damn, Marvin had 1100 9 last season, he might even be underrated this season when you look at that. But to play devils advocate, he had 5 targets per game with Golladay playing compared to almost 10 when Golladay did not play. Some regression, especially from the 9tds, should be expected. Good return. You make a great point. I think that M Jones has one more season in him as Stafford go to goalline wr. Plus I need too see Golladay stay on the field. Thanks for the reply, always a pleasure.
RaiderHaters Revenge 3,592 Posted August 23, 2018 yah I am not big on Golladay this year, he might do some things here and there, but its like Sutton in Den. You have two proven WR studs in front of you, its going to be hard to be anything more than a WR5 imo

Demaryius is a stud, Sanders is a Stud, DT posted 6 straight 90 catch 1000 yard seasons, and last year almost got there with Semien, Osweiler, Lynch, and now has a QB who threw for 4k yards last year. Sanders was hurt alot last year but 2014-16 he put up some WR1 numbers Tate and MJones both had over 1000 yards rec last year, in todays games those are studs, Marvin finished top 10 in fantasy, Tate top
listen2me 23 1,544 Posted August 25, 2018 I think Golladay is going to be very good. True targets may not be there enough for him to show it this year. I love him next year when they let Tate walk.

Or Hopkins and AJ Green?
