Dallas Cowboys 2018 & Beyond

Not for both teams in last years Super Bowl.

They just happened to have 1st round RBs.

Pats could make it to the SB with James White and a white RB if they wanted.

CJ Anderson was just as good as Gurley in the SB.  Gurley's knee is shot in typical RB fashion.

Hunt leaves Damien Williams a bum in MIA carries the load.

Bell holds out James Conner with cancer doesnt miss a beat.

Melvin will sit out and the Chargers wont lose anything.

There are a million examples.  It is why there is such turnover each year at RB for fantasy football.  Journeymen get a shot and do just fine in good offenses.

Zeke aint winning thr Cowboys anything.  He hasnt till this point.  They just will pay an idiot with a lot of carries thru 3 years.  It will be their improved defense that gets them anywhere.

Im not even big on WRs.  But you cant plug some journeymen WR in for Julio and get anywhere close to the same production or attention from the defense.

If Zeke were to holdout all year Pollard a what round rookie would probably have had a top 10 or 12 season at RB.

Now of course Kamara Bell Zeke id rather have than some guy.  But I am not paying them.  I dont even care if you want to take one in the 1st and run his wheels off.  But im not paying them when the time comes.

Lets check the previous 2 SBs.

Freeman a 4th rounder

James White a 4th round 3rd down back.

Blount undrafted and fairly old.

James White again with Dion Lewis a 5th rounder.  So 2 3rd down backs.

and they actually scored points in those 2 SBs.

Cowboys signed Ezekiel Elliott to a six-year, $90 million contract extension.

The deal includes a whopping $50 million guaranteed. Zeke's $15 million annually not only surpasses Todd Gurley's previous league-high mark of $14.375 million per year, it officially makes the 24-year-old Cowboys star the league's all-time highest-paid runner and ties him to Dallas through the 2026 season. Archer reports Elliott will be on the field practicing Wednesday, but there's been no word on any limitations or timeshare as he settles back in post-Cabo holdout. Assuming he's good to go for Sunday, Elliott is a clear-cut top-five fantasy option in Dallas' season opener against the Giants.

And for sure neither were a top 5 overall pick. Michel was a 31st pick - hardly in the same category as even Gurley - who at 10, produced all of 35 yards in the SB.

If Jerry wins a SB in the next 3 years - me and most everyone else will gladly eat crow, it will have been worth it......... But if he doesn't, and/or this idiot focks up 1 more time and gets indefinite suspension - it will go down as one of the worst contracts in DFW history - rivaling that of Chan Ho Park.

It is what it is I guess...

Time to just focus on the here and now. And (admittedly) the here and now looks fantastic - as good and deep a team as we've seen since the '95 squad.

Once Byron Jones, Tank and Quinn are back - this defense has a chance to be dominant. But the real underlying story is Linehan - he's gone, who knows what we will see with K. Moore. Maybe Dak flourishes under the new system - maybe a more modern/unpredictable approach is exactly what's been holding him back... We will see.

I see the cowboys o/u sitting at 9.  What say you guys?  Fair? Low? High?

This team is young, talented and deep.......... But the schedule is brutal.

Dallas goes to - NO, CHI, NE. NYJ (who some say are legit). Then gets GB and the Rams at home........not to mention PHI twice.

With Zeke back - I'd gamble and go 10.

Are people still counting GB as elite? Why? They're the Giants with a better quarterback. If you're still sweating them out your team ain't all that.

As a fan I wont say elite.

But the offense has a new look.

They retooled on defense big time and Pettine has a year under his belt with the rest of the guys.

If anything im expecting the D to help out for once.  Im cautiously optimistic.  Better than no defense and the whole division knowing the offense.

Um, maybe not much.

But defense and qb are what get you playing in January.

Looks like a two year deal to me. No way they pay that option bonus and year 3 salary.

Agree.......and as much as I don't like Zeke nowadays, I have no problem with this deal.

Run that monster into the ground!

Considering what could of been - this deal is actually not that bad.

In essence, it's a 4 year deal, for $50m - basically $12m (and some change) per year.

My biggest fear going forward remains the same - Zeke's behavior. He is 1 strike away from indefinite suspension - at Rog's discretion to boot.

You hold Rodgers to 10, you expect to win.

Exactly... Hell, you hold any team to 10 to expect to win - but especially Rodgers.

I think last night was a product of 2 things:

1. 2 really good defenses - especially GB, what a leap they've made.

2.  Lack of preseason playing time..... Those guys barely played until last night - and it showed.

It wudn't purdy but Damn if they didn't pull off a good'n.

They need to tighten sh!t up on both sides of the ball but overall it was a good start to the season.

I didn't expect much from out DTs - but to see Van Jaylon totally disappear in the run game was alarming.

Did you see Heath on the long Barkley run? He had a clear shot and #26 juked right by him - didn't get w/in 5 yards.. And they made that clown a Captain?

On the NFL Network this a.m. - Dak's last 5 games against NY:

W-L = 5-0

Comp % = 65.9

Pass ypg = 310.4

TD-INT = 13-0

Rating = 120.5

Even before y-day's game, Dak was 13-5 against the East... Now at 14-5, he's gonna get paid like a mofo.

Paid bigly, no doubt.  The girls are in the same position as the Skins with Cousins of having to match the open market. Of course Cousins wanted out and Dak wants in so there's that.

Still it's one game against a potential 3 win team, so there's that also.

The worst thing about the Cowboys scoring nowadays is the Garrett "Tickle Party" 😲

If that happens Dallas doesn't have to pay him, right?

They've not released details of the deal........but I have to think there's language in there that voids his deal if he gets popped.
