Cowboys placed LT Cam Erving ( knee ) on IR, his season is over.

In September Dallas carried 10 Offensive Linemen on it's initial 53 man Roster.

7 of those have been placed on IR 8 times.

Good news in an otherwise difficult season, Jerry says he is staying in his role as GM and there will be no change in his duties as such. So, you have that going for you heading into 2021

Didn't need a presser to tell us this.

Kinda surprised the Cowboys haven’t been linked to Stafford.  A lot cheaper than Dak will be and he’s not coming off a surgery.

Makes sense to me. Stafford has the arm to get the ball downfield, and even though he’s not as mobile as Dak, he’s not a statue either. Time is running out for that O-line, if it hasn’t already.

They should trade Dak to Houston for Deshaun and fraft picks.

Wow. Stay in your lane, whatever that is. Football isn’t.

I've been more right about football stuff before breakfast than you all day, much like masculinity, love, sex, intelligence and pretty much everything in life. Stay in your sad failure lane, where you find comfort.

Yeah. You think the Texans should trade Deshaun, plus draft picks, to get a worse quarterback. Stfu.

Was actually plenty of buzz here locally.

Would have given Jerry an out with Dak, plus have a QB for 2 years on the cheap... Stafford would have loved to come home back to Dallas too..... Seeing what the Rams gave up - I'm glad we weren't involved in serious talks.

There are a lot of QBs available that would be significantly cheaper than Dak.

None better though. It's either Dak or start the rebuild.

dak sucks.  he already proved that.  handing him that money is like paying goff.  goff would look good if you gave him daks WRs.

Dak is great. Lightyears ahead of Goff. The absolute best thing about the Cowboys.  They are terrible without him.  I am curious as to how you think Dak proved he sucked.

before the toomer trade he looked awful.  dak is a guy that needs elite wrs.  the definition of franchise qb is a guy that lifts up his team and can thrive without elite wrs.  you can plug a lot of qbs into the cowboys system and have them throw to cooper, lamb and gallup and they will look swole.

the cowboys wrs are unfair and ridiculous.

I honestly don't get Dak hate. He has been a near 100 rating QB his whole career with great mobility.  This was before all those WR you name came on the scene.  And with those WR he has really blown up. The Dallas problem is their defense. And, of course, their GM.

cant fix the defense if the team pours a ton of money into qb when they dont need to.

You and I will have to agree to disagree about Daks talent. I 100% agree that a bloated QB contract can kill a team, even if he performs. And this year the cap is suppose to head down, which makes it even worse.

Have you seen the available QB FAs - who are you going to grab? Dak is the #1 rated QB FA - after that you have the likes of Trubisky, Wintston, Haskins, Fitzmagic, Dalton, Brissett, Tyrod Taylor, Cam....... Like I said, you can find cheaper all day long - but cheaper isn't better.

Paying Dak isn't the problem. QB is the biggest expense of any team, it is what it is. Dak's # will seem large, and it will be - but only bcoz he's next in line to get a deal. Once Josh Allen or whomever is next, they will surpass him.

Jerry's real fock up continues to be everywhere else he spends money. Paying Zeke was maybe the dumbest contract extension in the history of the Cowboys. Then you have the likes of a 1-legged Jaylon Smith eating up $64m, a never available Tyron Smith eating up $98m, Amari eating up $100m, etc... Jerry is not rebuilding - he financially can't. Dak will get paid and hopefully they find a way to dump Zeke, Jaylon and Tyron to get better/cheaper there.

Never say never........but outside of his ankle not healing right, Dak will be a Cowboy in 2021.

I put the odds of a long term deal being reached at 50/50... But at the very least Jerry will Tag him again - to the tune of $37.7m.

He’s going to offer him the same deal he did before. If Dak turns it down that’s on him.

I think so too, or very near it anyway. Jerry can site the Cap actually going down as his defense.

And who knows, maybe Dak's injury has given him a new perspective. Maybe he now values long term security and actually takes it.. I doubt it, but never say never.

Dak is a solid QB, he's certainly not great.  I think it's in the Cowboys' best interest to not overpay him.  If they do, it'll just mean more years that they are pretenders and not contenders.  Dak is fine as long as you can put great talent around him.  Once that talent drops off, he's mediocre.  I mean, you saw that in his last 21 games.  He's a game manager, and there's nothing wrong with that, but he can't carry your team.  You pay guys like Mahomes, Rodgers, and Brady that money because they can carry a team.  Dak is like Flacco to me.  A game manager who can "help" you win, but once you overpay him and the rest of your supporting cast suffers because of it, then you're looking at a low glass ceiling.  If he's willing to take $28M... $30M, that's ok.  If he wants $40M+, move on.

This past season Dalton had as much success as Dak did (more if you consider their circumstances), and they paid Dak almost 10x more money than they paid Dalton.

Really?  He won 44% of his games compared to Dak 40% and that's including the gift that Atlanta gave them in Week 2.  On top of that, Dalton had a new offense and no real time to learn the system this off season.  If you count his first 2 games as a "preseason" of sorts, he was 4-3 in the last 7 games.  In those last 7 games, Dalton completed 66% of his passes... Dak completed 68%.  Dalton had 13:5 TD/Int ration, Dak was 9:4.  Daulton's passer rating was 95.1, Dak's 99.6.  What Dak did... that's worth 10x more than what Dalton did this year?  You think that Dalton didn't have just as much success?

On the cowboys website they have Dalton at 14 td's to 8 int and a passer rating of 87.3?

I noted that I was talking about the last 7 games.  Dalton had no true off season to learn the play book and get reps with the 1st unit.  I stated that if you used his first 2 games as a preseason of sorts, his last 7 games were just as productive (even more so), than Dak's first 5.  Last year, Dak had a full offseason, preseason, and regular season to get the new offense down... plus the minimal offseason.  Yet, in his 21 games, he's 10-11.  With no real time, Dalton was 4-5 in 9 games.

As a fan of a team that plays the Cowboys 2x a year and would like to get at least a WC sometime soon, I’ll gladly escort Dak out of the division. My treat

This is what you run into when you don't watch the games - go by Monday stat sheets.

* Those last 7 games, Dalton faced 2 playoff teams - he went 0-2 (lost 16-41 and 17-34).

* 4 of the games were against pigs, who had no interest in winning to secure draft spots - nor their own starting QB, also with backups (CINCI, SF, PHILLY).

* The last game was NY - even thought they were playing for a potential Division win, sucked..........and he lost.

* You stopped at 7, if you back 8 games - Dalton got drilled, lost 3-25 against WASH.

There's a reason Dalton was free and available cheap. He's a great backup - but not a starter in this league anymore.

How are those Cowboys in the prior 21 games?  I believe they have a losing record with Dak and are 1-5 against playoff teams.  Am I right?
