That’s pretty typical. The M.E. is sort of the administrative boss (sometimes it’s an elected position depending on the jurisdiction) and they review the autopsy report rather than doing every autopsy themselves. As long as the autopsy report is valid there really shouldn’t be much of an issue with it. It’s sort of like how your doctor doesn’t do the MRI but they’re perfectly capable of making diagnoses from it.
