Coronavirus - Doomsday

Trump holding a briefing right now.  Boasting about testing.  Hoping the public ignores the fact that all the governors are saying they are severely short on having the testing required to open safely.

He and his cronies are patting themselves on the back.  He hasn't fielded questions from the WH reporters in weeks (since he got destroyed the night of his inject-disinfectants comments.  This is going to be awesome.  Can't wait till they ask him why he gets tested every day. Everyone he comes in contact with gets tested every day and if anyone tests positive, they are quarantined and their contacts are tested.  And why he sees that as imperative to keep things safe in the white house, but doesn't think it's necessary for the tens of millions he wants to return to work without the availability of widespread testing.  get your popcorn ready. :)

Did I hear that guy right, the US has now done twice as many tests per capita? Great work by all involved.

After that maybe they will ask him why he has his own security detail, why he has his own plane and why he has his own helicopter.

How many times do you need to post about how much you hate Trump?

Why don't you simply start a new thread about your TDS and let that stand?

Seeing 9 million people tested in the U.S. Also seeing that China wants to test 10 million people in Wuhan due to possible new outbreaks. If we needed to test 5 million people tomorrow in NYC, we couldn't.

No we couldn’t. Because it’s impossible. And why would we “need” to do that?

That was that was even better than expected. LOL  Kaitlan Collins of CNN scares him so badly. She wanted to ask a question and he simply walked out. He may have pissed his pants a little. LOL I don't think you're going to be seeing one of those briefings again for a little bit. That didn't go like he was hoping. 🤣🤣🤣

Negative. The US is currently ranked 39th in testing per capita. They were 42nd two weeks ago. But that's largely due to the fact that other countries have done a much better job on this and arent needing to test many people now.

I'll check back in a couple of months. Maybe a couple weeks after the first professional sporting event or concert.

Brilliance?

How can you ask people to put themselves at risk, siting the hospitals are under capacity? Only to find out, if you do end up in the hospital the one drug that may save your life is in short supply.

The alternative is slowing the reopening of things until you can do it safely. That includes having enough supplies to take care of those that will get sick. We haven't done that. That's Brilliant.

It's not the government's job to save everyone's life.  It's the government's job to meet the expectation of reasonably available healthcare.

The reason we shutdown was the threat of hospitals being overrun.  The second the overrun concern is mitigated we should reopen.

I disagree. It may not be the governments sole purpose to save everyone's life. But, they meddle in a lot of other things in the name of protecting us. Why stop now?

The protection of life is a point of emphasis in both the Declaration of Independence and the 5th Amendment of the Constitution.

The point was that the statement by Hardcore troubadour was incorrect. And that we couldn't test at levels of other countries if needed.

Is everyone here an extremist? No middle ground?

In I, Robot, the thing that was keeping them inside was a CPU, not a person or government.

Are you completely against any of the shut downs that have happened globally since January 1st?

Well, Joe Biden stated at the end of January that a ban of travel was xenophobic. And the rest of the left didn't care about it as they were busy failing at trying to get rid of the president. So, what can you say?

No he didn't. He made a statement about Biden. Last I checked, Biden has zero impact on how the country handles this pandemic. So, he's not part of the conversation. I've heard people complain about Pelosi and Biden. Who cares, I didn't see either of them at the daily press briefing. Trump is the only one that can do certain things with executive powers. The country goes where he leads.

I'm wondering if we had an outbreak of ebola or small pox if people would still suggest that we should never shut down the country? Where do you draw the line and with a new virus like this one, how do you know how to react if you don't have accurate information?

Again, for the 100th time.  Most everyone was for the initial shutdown, why?

1. It was new virus and we didn't know exactly what it was, had little data, etc.

2. The original purpose was to "flatten the curve" of a spike and to not over-run hospitals.

Two months later we know more of #1.  While a nasty virus (moreso than the common flu), its no where near as deadly as we first thought. And as to #2, we did it.  The hospitals were not over-run.

Somehow the "shutdown" has turned away from those two pillars to.......if you get a haircut you will KILL GRANDMA and have BLOOD on your hands!@#!  Wait Wut?

And I responded to that statement the there are regulations against other things to save our lives. Why do we have seat belt laws? That has nothing to do with healthcare. It's to prevent deaths.

As to the second part of his post, I made the comment earlier that we have limited supply of Remdesivir. That is directly related to healthcare. So, should we open the country up if we don't have enough doses to treat the current number of people that have Covid 19? Seems irresponsible at best.

Have we flattened the curve? It seems like once we got past NY, everyone thinks the curve is flattening. At this point, our government is pushing states that are seeing increased numbers of cases to open their states. While at the same time, not having enough of the only drug to treat people if they do get sick.

If you get Covid 19 and someone in your family dies (because there aren't enough doses of Remdesivir) who are you going to blame? Yourself for going to McDonalds for a Big Mac, the Governor/Mayor for lifting the lock down? Or the hospital for choosing to save someone else.

That's because we are testing more every day than the day before.   The actual % number of people testing positive per test is going down.  Gah I feel like I have to do this, which is sad, but here goes.

April 10th:  100 tests, 10 test positive for Covid-19

May 10: 500 tests, 20 test positive for Covide-19.

What you and Newbie will say is:  " Positive tests have doubled the past month!@#"

JFC  I swear posts like yours are making me lose my mind.

Cases will obviously go up if testing improves. Or, cases were always way too low because testing was always inadequate.

On the bright side, mortality rate will continue going down as we finally get out from behind the 8 ball  and rest enough people.

No. Are you?

He made the comment about hospital overrun. Prior to that (earlier this morning) I made the comment about the shortage of Remdesivir. Whether it's an overrun of hospital beds, respirators, or drugs to fight the virus, they all contribute to the problem with keeping people alive.

I get the feeling that some think as long as we have hospital beds, but no drs or nurses, the issue is solved. It's not.

Who is this idiot who thinks redemsevir is the only option to treat COVID-19?

Did Dr Fauci create an account here?

My 102 year old mee maw caught the COVID-19 at her nursing home and was treated with HCQ+. She is alive and well. As have tens of thousands, if not more, around the world.

Never mind that 80% who get COVID-19 have zero symptoms, 15% only show a minor flu and recover with rest and water. Only a tiny % require hospitalization and less than 1% die.

And this fool wants to shut down society.

😆
