Never read that. I read one Richard Bachman book but not sure which one.

Thinner was a decent one about the gypsy curse on the obese man.

That book is some of his best work

I read that his son didn't like Stephen's ending(imagine that) and wrote the one they ended up using.

Since it was my introduction to King(many many years ago) and I enjoy good vampire stories I still have to go with Salem's Lot,followed closely by 11-22-63,The Shining,The Stand and a collection of short stories called Night Shift.

Wouldn't surprise me. King cannot write an ending to save his life.

His strengths are character building and children orgy scenes.

I usually love time travel stuff, and I really liked the premise of this book, but it really started dragging 3/4 of the way through.  I felt like I had to force myself to finish it.

Really? I couldn't put it down. The years as a teacher can be slow, granted, but I still enjoyed it.

How long of a book?  Is it ginormous like The Stand?

No about 2/3 the size of the stand

Agreed.  Although front to back I probably enjoyed The Stand the most, after a bazillion pages it ended out of nowhere.  My wife and I still reference "Trashcan Man" for such an abrupt story ending, if you've read it.

Also I never did finish It; I tried to read it in college but I only had time for a few pages at a sitting; seemed the character development went on for 300 pages and I just couldn't keep up.

I also tried to read The Shining but I had seen the movie too many times and it was too different.

Agree. I think he is a great story teller. With many books I really enjoy the story and do not really care how it ends. Some books l like I don’t remember how it ended. Some of my favorites are:

Needful Things

Rose Madder

Joyland

End Of Watch

It

The Outsider

Revival

ABC remade it into a mini-series and King was the Executive Producer and it followed the book to a tee.I really liked the Kubrick version but for a King fan the mini-series is IMO a must watch.

This is a problem with at least a half the books I read and movies I watch.

As others have mentioned, I didn’t love the ending either.

It’s mostly horror, but not all.  I’m not into the horror stories.

The Green Mile, Shawshank and Hearts in Atlantis are all solid non-horror stories.

Speaking of King I can't believe anyone is this dumb from his twitter....

@StephenKing ...No, coronavirus is NOT like THE STAND. It’s not anywhere near as serious. It’s eminently survivable. Keep calm and take all reasonable precautions.

@StevieMichaelD1...And how the hell would you know?! Did you even read that book?

Lots of non horror

The Body (Stand by Me movie)

The entire Dark Tower series (fantasy not horror)

Mr Mercedes trilogy

11/22/63 was most certainly not horror

Misery (Suspense not horror)
