I wonder if suicide is up or down comparatively to yesteryear

Not sure.  While people are more open about it and are able to get more help than ever before, I think there are more stressors in life than ever before as well.

Bayless says dumb outrageous things to get a reaction. Like me and many other Geeks, only he gets paid for it.

A lot of other media and broadcasters said worse and were fired on the spot.

His whole career was “Hot Takes”. I believe he takes a hit for this one.

Why?  Did you listen to the segment?  If not, start it at 9:16.  Skip wasn't saying Dak shouldn't talk about how he was depressed after his brother's suicide, but talking about being depressed early on during the covid pandemic probably isn't a good idea.  The team looks to Dak as their leader.  Some teammates might look at Dak and say he was courageous for sharing his difficulty dealing with covid early on.  Others might think he's a puzzy.  If Dak doesn't say anything publicly about it, no one knows any different and doesn't question his mental toughness.  Also, if Dak needed to talk about his difficulty dealing with depression during covid, there are a lot of options out there.  He can talk to a specialist, talk to friends/family and/or teammates he is close with.  Sharing it publicly may be detrimental to the team.  That was Skip's take in a nutshell.

Skip and Stephen A. Clown could both go off a cliff - wouldn't be missed.

Agreed.  Prior to watching this segment, I couldn't have told you whether Skip was even still on air.

No big deal.  Bayless is paid to give his opinion and does not bow down to the masses.  If that is the way he feels so be it it is only one man`s opinion.

Like what? Social media? Easy fix.  Delete it.

Suicide rates are on the up even with more and more awareness and programs combating it.

I think common sense says people today are much more fragile than ever before.  It is real for sure.  But people are fragile.

What other stressors? Life is easy and cushy compared to other generations.

This cannot be a true statement. There have been way worse times in this country's history. There may be a lot less pride in one's self these days though. It's always someone elses fault it seems for not all, but many many people these days.

People have too much time on their hands to dwell. Technology has given us an insane amount of leisure time compared to other generations. Many people don’t even cut the lawn anymore.

Love Skip......and he has valid thoughtful points, his job is to voice his opinion. As a lifelong Cowboy fan, I have no problem with what he said.

I know Veteran suicides, majority of them never left the country. They never deployed or did anything. Actually almost nobody in the military has served in actual combat. They might have been deployed but didn't go on any combat missions yet all we hear about is suicides and PTSD...meh. The country is very very soft. I have a couple of nieces who grew up filthy rich, everything they could ever want and they take depression meds. What an effin joke.

I’ve learned through experience, unfortunately, that many people can’t grasp how devastating someone you care about killing themselves is on a person.

Depends of the person.  Imagine how devastated Hitler's family was.

I agree that there is a trend with people broadcasting their problems in a search for pity. I think thats more social media than real life, though. Im talking more about people, specifically men, that truly suffer from depression. Suicide is higher among men, in part, because we are taught to not show weakness. The stfu and carry on approach leads to suicide.

Seems like there is some sexism going on here.  Can we get the NFL to paint the endzones for this cause?  Maybe burn or steal some sh#t?

Was a pretty tasteless thing for him to say. It’s something I’d expect from a few people here to say since it’s classless
