The A & P

OMG when I was just old enough to go to the store but not really old enough to cross main streets it was the A & P for me. I really haven’t thought of them in a long long time

Sam Goode
Piggly Wiggly (grocery - probably regional, none of you have heard of). I think it might still be a name, but not grocery anymore.
Red Owl (grocery - probably regional, none of you have heard of)
Montgomery Ward
KB Toys (and of course Toys R Us)--if I was going to check for a Nintendo game (8 bit) these are the two places I'd look.

Shakeys was fun too.

I guess one of the original owners kid opened up similar chain not too long ago.

It's called Parkinson's.

Shakey's Pizza was founded in Sacramento, California, on April 30, 1954, by Sherwood "Shakey" Johnson and Ed Plummer. Johnson's nickname resulted from nerve damage following a bout of malaria suffered during World War II. it was the first franchise pizza chain in the United States.

While not a fotomat I still have a tiny mom and pop store in the neighborhood that develops film. I have no idea how they stay in business. The diner next store went out of business and this place still open (pre Covid - not sure if still open but 9 months ago it was)

Nassau or Suffolk?!?! (...I’m not from LI but that was the opening to about 75% of the conversations for the first week in my freshman dorm where I went to college which for some reason was very popular with people from Strong Island)
