Stores put that out because governments threaten them with being shut down if they didn't. Most stores do not care and the ones who do care I just leave and never shop there again.

Now I think there should be exceptions for very little kids, the truly disabled (being butthurt isn’t a disability), and outside where there’s lots of room. Also if fockin dipsh1ts would get their vaccine (the same people that b1tch about masks tend to be the holdouts) then we should be able to move past this altogether. But anyway, for now it’s still a recommended or required safety measure and you can’t blame a g0ddamn business for asking people to abide by it.

There is decades of science behind masks not working especially for respiratory viruses like covid. DECADES! That's why every single expert said masks don't work. There was no huge breakthrough scientific study that debunked the decades of previous research.

I've said from the beginning of this charade that masks were little more than a feel good device. It made dimwits feel safe when it actually provides little benefit. If you're coughing and sneezing, sure, a mask will block most of it. The problem is, I see idiots all the time pulling down the mask to cough or sneeze. They don't want that sh!t inside the mask that's on their face. 

The vaccine is the same. It's a flu shot. You can get one this year but you'll have to get another one next year.

My theory is they told people to wear  the mask so they would go out and go to work and such.  They were afraid people would just hunker down without some sense of security. Now the a-holes who run things, like my kids soccer league, won’t back off, even though it’s quite clear that being outside and separated poses no threat. None whatsoever.

I hear what you are saying Worms, and in general I’m a good doobie and wear my mask.  I realize that most store cashiers are just following the rules given to them.

I am an interesting experiment though because I literally do not breathe through my nose or mouth, so a mask is utterly useless.  I do breathe through the stoma in my neck, and I long ago stopped masking that.  At Mayo, when I’m in a room, I take off my mask and none of the providers care, because they know.  When I go into the hall however, they ask me to put one on.  I used to ask why, but they inevitably mumble something about somebody might complain or feel unsafe.  Feeling safe is nice I guess.  But they aren’t safe because I’m breathing all of my Covid evil through my maskless stoma.  The docs know this and never ask me to cover it up.  I’m left to conclude that they, like many of us, know that it is theater at this point, but it is easier to just comply and not risk the frothy wrath of the brown shirts.

This is pretty much what masks have become at this point.  A virtue signal showing Big Brother that we are willing to comply with whatever rules they tell us.  Stick a mask on a 2 year old?  How cute!  And learning to comply so young, he’ll be a good young wokester.  Wear a mask at an outdoor baseball game, with nobody within 20 feet, and only take it off when you eat or drink?  Science!  A basketball player slobbers over everyone for 40 minutes, and when he sits down he needs a mask?  Science!
