It remains unclear why the building collapsed. Researchers and engineers interviewed by USA TODAY pointed to a variety of possibilities, including sea-level rise, the corrosive effect of saltwater, the stability of the ground underneath or more mundane matters like shoddy construction or lax oversight.

Never let a crisis go to waste.   Bwahahahahahahaha

unclear...possibilities... those are what the left flood their "facts" with.

I've seen sink holes destroy Florida houses before.

Were any of them Orthodox?  The Orthodox are a specific group that often have conflicts with other non-Orthodox Jews, including in Israel

The ones that vote Democrat.  Don't care whether they're orthodox or non, that's up to them.  What I do know, is that they support Democrat over Republican by a ratio of 3:1.  I mean, just look at the ones is Congress, as I noted, 35 out of 37 are Democrat.

Peenie noted the ones where she used to live, were awful.  Well, North Jersey is massively Democrat.  Considering that, plus Jews support Democrats 3:1 over Republicans, I think it's a safe statistical assertion that the ones she's talking about are Democrats.

Ok, so in 2018 a report was filed about cracled beams, cracked columns, and cracked walls in that building..

Must be global warming.

This would be the most terrifying thing ever if you were in that building. Woken up by collapsing rubble all around you. I’m pretty shocked there aren’t more dead but there’s still time and plenty missing.

Maybe topped only by being captured by an islamic terrorist group or..... living under a liberal government.

HT/Peenie were referring to the Orthodox. It’s still generalizing but the Orthodox vs Jewish is like apples and oranges.

What’s your point again?  The building collapsed because it’s owners may have voted Democrat?

Don't care whether they were or not, though, odds are that it was, but that's irrelevant.

My post was to Peenie about her growing up.  She made it known that she's from North Jersey.  That she voted/votes Democrat.  Everything she's complained about was put in place by Democrats.  SHE's the one who said that Jews owned the properties that took advantage of black people.  I simply pointed out that in North Jersey, there's a great chance they were Democrats.

On the bright side, most of the family members interviewed appear to be "southern'.

I shouldn’t have generalized. I just meant slumlords. They just happened to be Jewish. I have nothing against Jews.

So it’s looking like the pool deck may have collapsed into the parking garage, creating a void that brought the rest down (likely in combination with weakened concrete and rebar).

The issues were noted in 2018 and the building was supposed to undergo $12 million in renovations. Some say the issues were downplayed by the reporter or their severity simply misunderstood

I don't have anything against Jewish people either.  I'm simply pointing out that they were most likely Democrats and supported local Democrat politicians and policies.

Pool leak. Chlorine is an oxidizer and doesn't play well with steel rebar

In a damning 2018 private study, engineer Frank Morabito flagged “major structural damage” caused by a leaky pool due to “failed waterproofing” above the parking garage in the Champlain Towers South in Surfside

We all know how this unfolds, no individuals will be held accountable for their actions.  Companies will be sued, secure protection through bankruptcy and these families will all get screwed in the end as any funds will be mostly eaten by the lawyers....

You make it through 90 miles of shark infested water floating on an old inner tube with your 14 children, your entire Selena record collection and a 5 ft lawn sculpture of the Virgin Mary strapped to your back.

... Only to be killed by a leaky swimming pool on dry land.

Ain't that a biitch.

Seems it’s a co-op, which means the building doesn’t have an actual owner, it has an association. I can’t find anything about an actual owner. If that’s the case, I’d say the amount of money available isn’t all that much, if any outside of insurance.

It may not be $$$, but one way or another heads will roll. Maybe the coop board. Possibly whoever did that 2018 study and apparently didn’t sound the alarm loud enough. Almost definitely THE CITY, which was informed of the issues and shrugged their shoulders. That’s where the money is too

That's why the corporation was created - to limit liability.

1.  A job needs to be done.
2.  ALL available businessmen go "We refuse to do that job, because if something goes wrong, you will hold me personally liable, take all my money and throw me in jail!"
3.  The job is left undone.
4.  The public is irate! "Why won't anyone do that job?!  This government sucks!"
5.  Government creates a corporate entity that businessmen can enter into that provides protection from personal liability.
6.  Suddenly, businessmen show up that are willing to do the job.
7.  Something goes wrong.  The corporation is held accountable.  The individuals making the decisions get away scott-free
8.  The public is irate! "Why aren't held held accountable?!"

Its hard to manage people sometimes.

Oh, and its not a free market / capitalism thing.  Corporations were originally created in dictatorships by kings, because the problem of getting talented people to take huge risks still exists, even in dictatorships.  The Hudson Bay Corporation was originally created by the King of England in like the 1600s or so, for example.

How many of those heads died? If they are on the board they are mostly likely residents.

So far I’ve really only heard of one, but yeah you’d think by the law of averages it’d be more. It’s tough to go after those folks too, at the end of the day we’re basically talking about old ladies or bored retired guys who like getting in everyone’s business—not exactly a big bad boogeyman. But clearly the ball was dropped in truly astounding ways, and there must be an accounting

A guy said they were about to announce an 800 dollar a month assessment For 15 years on the tenants/owners to fix the issue.

And that is a huge challenge. Owners will never want that of course. Some won’t be able to pay it and will have to sell, to someone willing to incur that liability. Or the assessments mount and you have to foreclose. HOA rights are probably below mortgagors (I’m not in this area of the law though) so maybe you don’t even get it all back from foreclosure. Then you’ve got a vacant unit in a building people aren’t itching to buy or it never would’ve foreclosed. It’s definitely a real conundrum, no doubt about that. To me responsibility probably falls on the City which should’ve stepped in and condemned the building if necessary.
