help my late 80s early 90s r&b playlist

Recommended Posts

I'm building a party music r&b playlist for a client.  Something edgy and funky.  I don't want slow ballad type of stuff.

So far I've got:

1.  I Want Her - Keith Sweat
2.  My Perogative - Bobby Brown
3.  Do me! - Bell Biv DeVoe
4.  My Lovin' - En Vogue

Gonna need more tho.

Montel Jordan - This is how we do it

My favorite era of music of EVER

Silk - Freak me Baby
Jodeci - Feenin'
Hi-Five - She's playin hard to get

Jodeci is one of the more underrated talents of ever.

I hate to wander into late 80s / early 90s rap, but Funky Cold Medina, Wild Thing, and Me So Horny (which got banned in the US) almost fit.

H-Town - Knockin' Boots

SWV - Weak, and Right Here (Human Nature Remix)

Wrecks N Effect - Rump Shaker

These are more hip-hop than R&B, but still on that vibe:

LLCoolJ - I Need Love and Around The Way Girl

Paperboy - Ditty

yes Prince can do amazing R&B and its to the point where he transcends everything to where he is just his own thing.

adding "word up!" by cameo.  this one is really underrated.  cant believe its from 1986.  sounds way ahead of its time.

You can never, ever go wrong with Skid Row. One of their best songs.

If you want an incredible night of passion and sex, play this and make a Kahula straight on the rocks. Like a bunch of candles, and whisper sweet nothings in her ears.

They only played this song a few times live. Was hard on Sebastian’s voice. Incredible front man. Best I ever saw. And I was there to see it. Great show. Nailed it.
