The teachers believed the doors locked which is why she propped it open.  None of the outside door locks were working for some reason though.  She didn’t know it wasn’t working. There is video evidence of her shutting the door and the report says she shut the door. She was at no fault. I don’t know how any fault could be placed on her.

I have not seen any video of that. Only video of her going in and shutting the door. I assume there has to be video of her going out though.

I don’t think that video has been made public, but it was confirmed by the police and the report.

Also, if you watch the surveillance video of the shooter entering the building you can see that the door was closed.

One of the firings was of a Texas Department of Public Safety officer, who just stood around during the shooting.

The DPS hired her, and then Uvalde ISD hired her but turned around and fired her after learning about her DPS firing.

From what I understand, DPS training is more intense that for the U.S. Marine Corps. 

So this highly trained officer stood around while kids were getting shot, and there is a mindset that teachers should be armed, that everyone should be armed.

1)  This person was caught on audio saying she would have gone in there if her kid was involved.  She didn't give a sh*t because it wasn't her kid.  She's a POS who shouldn't have ever been a first responder.   Sometimes even POS'es slip through the cracks.  Apparently there are a lot of cracks in Uvalde, Texas.

2)  A teacher who cares about his/her/their/them's students could absolutely get involved. 

3)  The initiatives to arm teachers are all voluntary.  No one is asking a teacher to arm themselves if they don't want to or aren't comfortable doing so.   

4)  Even if a a given teacher chooses not to get involved, if we arm any that are capable and willing SOME will engage.  How is it worse to have MORE resources, who are already there and in the middle of it anyways, instead of prohibiting that?  It makes no sense. 

5)  Every initiative I've read about, and I've researched this, to arm teachers requires some level of training.  Teachers aren't being asked to just strap on a gun and engage.

I'm not for gun bans or the kinds of hardcore restrictions they have in other countries, but I most certainly am for not letting a mentally disturbed kid walk into a gun place and buy a semi-automatic weapons.

I'm OK with armed security guards on campuses, but arming teachers isn't going to fix the problem. It's a dumb idea.

A special grand jury was chosen in Uvalde, Texas Friday to investigate the response to the 2022 massacre at Robb Elementary School, according to the local newspaper, The Uvalde Leader-News.

A grand jury investigation would represent the first publicly known development within the criminal justice system amid all the investigations into the botched police response.

The paper reports jurors are expected to spend at least six months investigating the case.

CNN has reached out to the local prosecutor and court officials but has not yet received a response.

The report of the grand jury empanelment comes a day after Attorney General Merrick Garland visited Uvalde and delivered a scathing DOJ review of the law enforcement response – but the two events may be unrelated. The Uvalde Leader-News reports a pool of potential grand jurors had previously been summoned to appear today.
