But to say Antifa was behind Jan. 6 is ridiculous. Being in the crowd isn't the same thing as bashing through windows, assaulting the police and trying to hunt down the vice president to hang from the gallows.

The mob was overwhelmingly pro-Trump.

But the far right blows Antifa way out of proportion. 

It's a more of a belief than an organized entity, although there are loosely scattered chapters around. There is no central organization, last I looked.

Its roots date back to Europe and the rise of fascism in the 1920s, largely to oppose Hitler and his ilk. In the ensuing decades, Antifa has popped up to confront the Ku Klux Klan, skinheads, neo-Nazis and fascists in general in this country.

Nothing wrong with that. 

But then they wrongly widened their opposition scope to include Trump and his followers. That and their tactics grew more violent.

Only one person died at the hands of an Antifa member in summer 2020, and before that Antifa hadn't killed anyone in like 25 years.

Meanwhile, far-right extremists have killed hundreds in the last 25 years. 

The Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and other far-right groups are far more organized and a threat than Antifa ever will be.

That is one of the biggest issue I have with the party system.  People are too afraid to vote for who they actually want and just stick with their party so the other person doesn't win.  It's a terrible way to elect the President.

Well, I agree in principle with most of that list, so I guess that makes me MAGA.  

- I never really thought about Antifa at 1/6, but the way the Left treats the idea with such disdain makes me think it is more than possible.  Maybe not "responsible," but participating, sure.

- Speaking of disdain, when the left calls accusations of voting irregularities not just a lie, but a big lie, and not just a big lie, but THE Big Lie!, with capitals and exclamations, it's a good bet that they are hiding something.  Reminds me of the Birther$#@! labels -- I'm on record as saying I don't particularly care where Obama was born, but if I'm supposed to believe that a guy got a book published but never read his bio on the jacket, Ima say one side is drinking the koolaid and I'll let you decide which one (FWIW I think he most likely lied about being from Kenya to the publisher to be more hipster).  Anyway, back to the election, I'm a bit of a systems expert, and there is no way to shotgun blast 150M ballots out to people who didn't request them from old, unvetted voter rolls and have "the most secure election evah!"  Before you say "no evidence!", munge on this:  if you have no good way to test the data coming into the system, you can't determine the validity of the data.  All of this recount crap is stupid, we know how to count votes.  The concern is garbage in / garbage out, which as I just said, we have no way of determining.

- So in that regard, I guess I agree with "make voting harder."  But more accurately I would say "optimize the ease/verification curve."  Things that reduce polling places/times in minority areas, that's bull and should be fixed.  However, unmonitored drop boxes... hmm, not so much.  And proving you are eligible to vote in that election, I strongly endorse.  At a high level, make it "harder" (more accurate) to show you are eligible, and easier to actually vote.

- I wouldn't say Trump had "no responsibility" for 1/6, but certainly no criminal responsibility, that I've heard yet.  I posted my thoughts to@Fnordin the 1/6 thread and he didn't respond, directly to me anyway.  So I won't rehash it here.

- I don't understand "honest about Covid," but certainly the restrictions went too far, and the way children and schools were treated should be criminal.

- The last bullet is also stupid, but I agree that "the American way of life" is under attack.

Trump (well his lawyer team) has until 3pm tomorrow to file a motion to block the unsealing of the warrant. Of course Trump has had the unsealed warrant since Monday when it all happened and could have easily released it. If he files to block the warrant being unsealed it looks like he has something to hide.

 

Either way the rubes will love it and not hold him accountable for anything.

Back to my earlier argument with this info:  Trump allegedly stole boxes of documents with NUCLEAR info.  So, why wouldn't he just scan the docs and return them?  

The Occam's Razor answer:  the Feds used the NUCLEAR label to justify the warrant in hopes they'll find something unrelated to keep in the news cycle.  If I'm wrong they'll come out with an indictment on nuclear security info.  Or they'll find something else unrelated during their search.  I bet the latter.
