WalletHub compared all 50 states across the country to see what benefits and drawbacks there are to living in each state. The website looked at 52 key indicators of livability which range from housing costs and income growth to education rate and quality of hospitals. Of all 50 states, Massachusetts was ranked as the overall best state in the country to live in. The state excelled in sub-categories like “Education & Health,” where it ranked first overall. It also was ranked in the overall fourth spot in the “Safety” category. However, Massachusetts ranked in the 44th spot for affordability, meaning that it may not be the best state financially for everyone to live. Massachusetts also has the highest percent of insured population in the country, and some of the lowest average weekly work hours, contributing to its overall first place ranking. Neighboring state New Hampshire was the only other New England state to place in the overall top 10 spots. This state earned a seventh spot in the sub-category for “Economy,” beating Massachusetts, which placed 10th in that category. New Hampshire also ranked first in the sub-category “Lowest Percent of Population Living in Poverty” and fifth in the “Highest Percent of Population Age 25 & Older with a High School Diploma or Higher” category. As far as the other New England states go, Maine ranked at 11 overall with Vermont ranking at 12. Connecticut ranked at 25 while Rhode Island placed 28. Connecticut was found to have the 46th lowest income growth in the country, which could contribute to its overall mid rank. The state that WalletHub deemed the worst state to live in is Mississippi. This state ranked 49th overall in the “Economy” category, 50th in “Education & Health” and 49th in “Quality of Life.” To see how the rest of how each state in the country ranked, click here for the full study findings. https://wallethub.com/edu/best-states-to-live-in/62617 We're number 1, we're number 1, stick it in your bum. How can your quality of life be #6 if affordability is #44? It's expensive as hell, yet people have more disposable income regardless? Perhaps it is the rush hour traffic around Boston, or the subzero winter winds? Or Cape Cod for the 0.1% that can afford it? Maybe their efficiency at keeping minorities out of suburbs? It's a mystery.

In all seriousness, in my four years there every time I heard a girl talk in that accent, no matter how cute, she approached near non-draft status. It was comparable to a heavy smoker to me. In each case copious amounts of alcohol were required.

As far as everyday life in the sense of how close are places near you? I have no complaints. Virtually no one, even in the south where people like to make fun of NJ for as being out in the boonies, has to drive more than 2 miles to a grocery store or a doctor or Urgent care. There tons of places to eat within 2 miles, no matter where you're at. You're never more than 5 miles from a pharmacy or store.

New England has had multiple centuries to master the art form of liberal racism; it helps that their neighborhoods were all established when racism was the norm. They love their minorities; here is a ton of tax money to take care of them!!! And by "take care of" they mean keep them in Roxbury and the FOCK out of their neighborhoods. I can speak for my city. Is Gloucester MA a safe place to live? Quote Compared to communities within Massachusetts, Gloucester's crime rate is lower than nearly 57% of the state's cities and towns. It is for these reasons that Gloucester is ranked as one of the top 100 safest cities in the U.S.A. All you hoodlums stay where you are.

Engorgeous George 2,236 Posted August 16, 2022 And if the metrics were changed to not award a state for having elitist schools teaching liberal dogma and instead valued good BBQ, freshness of shrimp in their markets, affordability of housing, and proximity to Brett Favre's home Mississippi would be number one. Who cares? My metrics would be affordability, safety, health care, noninterference by government or neighbors, the highest percentage of females with less than 10% body fat and a casual moral attitude towards giving a break to older guys who have let themselves go.
