According to Horseman, 1/6 protestors who did none of these things were thrown in jail by Joe Hitler.

Sad! :(

Well if rando posted on the FF board holds the position over the entire conservative position then I need to sit back and decide who will hold this for the libs now....this might take some time...

Appears so, My God... 🤦🏻‍♂️

Why am I not surprised that Ben Shapiro cares more about the lighting than about the content of the speech? I AM surprised that people still follow him. What a tool.

This Focking R-Tard can't remember what he said last night.

I honestly think the original intent was to demonize all the MAGA Republicans on the ticket in November.  The problem is they foked it up 6 ways to Sunday.  They failed to ever make the connection until the end when he hastily said, "so get out and vote".   This is the most incompetent administration I've ever seen.  Everything they try just blows up in their face.

More or less important than the carpet at Mar a Lago?

I’m not sure what this non sequitur means, but I think we can all agree this woman didn’t get jailed just for protesting.

I know, she was trespassing!  And it wasn't a non sequitur, but nice try at sounding smart with Latin.  I'm alluding to the feds going NDI vs. classified info with Trump, because they can get the mean man easier with that ploy.  Of course I also think back lovingly to when the protesters were trying to burn and destroy federal buildings in 2020, it's a shame they couldn't find something like trespassing to get'em with.  :(

They just know that fascism is a bad-sounding word, and Trump is a mean tweeter, so we'll call them that.  It's like when a little kid hears a word he doesn't know but isn't supposed to say, so he figures it's bad and calls another kid the word.  "Oh yeah, well YOU are a BONER$#@!"

But to your point, an early stage in actual fascism is the consolidation of power into the executive branch.  Have we seen anything like that recently?  🤔

What has Biden done to consolidate power in the executive branch, specifically?

I know the previous president wanted to massively expand executive powers:

And he’s promising to do more if he gets re-elected.

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-floats-expansion-of-presidential-powers-during-rally-speech-2022-3?op=1

Also, when the previous guy was in office, he passed an executive order called Schedule F. This would have been a massive expansion of executive authority. Guess what? Biden rescinded it. Pretty much the opposite of what you’re accusing him of.

https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-creating-schedule-f-excepted-service/

As for fascism, you are incorrect in characterizing it as simply consolidation of power. That’s totalitarianism. Fascism is how you get there, and its playbook is about appealing to the dominant ethnic or cultural group with grievance politics. Then create enemies/scapegoats that you can blame problems on. Then explain that the system is rigged against the “real” patriots and encourage your followers to do something crazy like, I dunno... storm the nation’s Capitol building?

Here’s a bit of historical context on that:

It’s a non sequitur because whether this woman was arrested for protesting or trespassing has nothing to do with the Mar a Lago raid.

Also, non sequitur is a common phrase, which you should know since you use it yourself Smarty McSmartpants:

What he did was authorize 500 BILLION FOCKING DOLLARS for a non-emergency, which should have come from Congress as per our Constitution.

And I didn't say it was "simply" consolidation of power.  And if you don't see how Biden is appealing to the dominant cultural group (at least the one supported by the media and big tech) to create enemies/scapegoats with his attack on MAGA republicans in that speech, I'm not sure how to have an intelligent discussion about it.  :dunno:

The common link was finding a crime to fit the behavior, which I made abundantly clear through werds.

Also I never said nobody should use non sequitur, I said YOU shouldn't use it.

The common link was that she wouldn’t have been arrested and Mar a Lago wouldn’t have been raided if she didn’t trespass and Trump didn’t take classified docs. Personal responsibility and all that.

How about I use the phrases I want, then you complain and I make a fool of you with the search history?

I'm old enough to remember the way Romney and McCain were treated. It doesn't matter who the Republican is. Terrible take.

Also @dogcows, regarding your links (the first one anyway, and it seems the second although I just skimmed it):  they were attempts to drain the swamp, as he said he would do.  Your own link says that it was that way for 100 years, then it was changed.  I'm inclined to think the change was for the better, but I wouldn't call that an egregious attempt to consolidate power.  We'll probably agree to disagree on that.

They must think this is the way to go, they are all in on it.  Perhaps they surmise they can shame centrists into swaying over to their side :dunno:

It seems like a reasonable gambit to try, I have some doubts that it will work well enough.

They probably realized they one the last election by riling up all the idiots in their base enough to inspire enough people to vote so they could plausibly bridge the gap in the middle of the night.

I don't think anyone honestly thinks that but there have been a couple people here who have implied it multiple times.

Actually, check out the 2003 HEROES act and the 1965 higher education act. Both give the executive branch authority for student debt forgiveness. I’m sure there will be legal challenges, but I doubt they will be successful. Believe it or not, Congress has delegated substantial financial authority to the executive branch. The President doesn’t need Congress to pass a new law every time he runs out of pencils.

Biden has not done anything fascistic. If you watched his speech, he spoke out against “MAGA Republicans” for a specific reason: political violence. Instead of violence, he encouraged people to VOTE. This is the opposite of fascism. If you’ve got a problem with the president telling people to stop using political violence and to start voting, then perhaps you don’t want to live in a democracy?

The 2nd link was from the Trump White House. Of course it cherry-picked facts. If you cared to really investigate the history of why they changed it after 100 years, perhaps you could look up the assassination of President Garfield… which led to the Pendleton Act.

And that is a law passed by Congress, which Trump seemed to think he can overturn with an Executive order allowing him to fire 50,000 career government employees and replace them with political appointees. Again, look back to President Garfield as to why that might be a pretty terrible idea.
