Orlando noon Thursday update:  Winds peaked after midnight. Went to sleep hearing howling wind, pounding rain, and branches/stuff hitting the roof. Nothing to do, but wait til morning to see the damage.

Woke up with winds still 25+ mph and gusts, but no noticeable property damage. And amazingly, never lost power. Most Central Floridians weren't as lucky as thousands of homes (even down the street) are still without power.

I should take it all as a blessing, but instead I'm taking it as an omen that I'm untouchable and bad things only happen to losers. Next hurricane I'm gonna stand on my roof and shake my fist at God.  About to walk around my neighborhood and see how many neighbors were smited by the Almighty.

If they are cheap then the area won't be inhabitable any time soon. There are actually people that have residences on Sanibel and Pine island that think they are going to stay with no electricity or access via road for who knows how long. Easily a year if years.
