Truth.

And nobody has ever been prosecuted for simply watching a stream. Objectively it's a gray area.  Download songs and movies to your hard drive, copyright infringement.

What sucks the most is the more people who do what you're doing, the more prices go up for content.

Well you called it stealing, so we'll just go with that.

Exactly.  So his sidestep of the similar example because it's not taxpayers fronting the bill was close.  Somebody is paying more so he can have free .

There's certainly some hypocrisy there but I have a feeling he really doesn't care.

People who do sh1tty things in life don't care about their impact on others.  That's what makes them sh1tty people

Like a real man, I sit on my lumpy sofa, watch my basic cable, and drink. None of those fru-fru streaming services for me like you Zinfandel swilling troglodytes seem to clamor to pay for.

But if I fall behind viewing an episode of, let's say, Better Call Saul, it's not available On Demand. You have to get the rerun on the streaming pay service. It's basic cable, for fock's sake.  I'm being cheated money. And that's when torrent happens.

What pees me off is companies like ESPN and NFL Network and owning the rights to certain games on days of the week. You can't just pay like $10 bucks a month for their service to watch the games. You have to pay for a whole streaming service for $40 bucks or more for the other channels you don't even want. I don't blame someone at all that finds a way to watch their services for free.

Also while we are on the stealing subject how do you feel about people that get station for free on a antenna that cable companies are charging for ?

This is patently untrue, and one of the reasons the distinction between theft and copyright infringement is important.  If I wouldn't have bought your product anyways the fact that I stream or download it has zero impact on your revenue/profit.  Study after study has shown that for the most part people who download stuff illegally also spend more on legal downloads/purchases of entertainment.  The only studies showing otherwise have been those paid for by the entertainment industry.  Numerous studies have been done by third party research firms not affiliated with the entertainment industry and every one I've seen has show people who download spend the most on legal purchases as well.

Strike pwning this thread over the crybabies.

Why anyone cares so much what other people do to watch TV is fascinating.

That's a good analogy all though I think there is a lot of grey areas on this whole subject.

With the streaming services, finally, it's becoming much easier.  But these are two good examples of the cable companies that have held a true monopoly over people for years greasing every penny, particularly from old people.  I mean we've had the internet band width to stream HD video for over a decade and these companies forced people to put satellite dishes on their roofs.  Some of the same morons crying about stealing streams probably still have dishes on their roof.  They just sit back and say, "please please you foking pig pork monopoly, please let me give you more of my money to watch the foking football game!".

Hmmm...  Maybe that has just been their excuse for raising prices then.  That's the reason I've heard for years.  Makes sense though, I'm most likely not going to watch the same movie if I have to pay for it compared to watching it for free.

A couple of years ago, Week One of the NFL season, I flip on RedZone. Service unavailable. Odd, I've had it since their first year of operation.

Ring. Ring.

Customer service: Can I help you?

Me: Yeah, my RedZone channel that I've been paying for many, many years is not working.

Customer service: Oh, I see the problem. You don't have Xfinity Live. RedZone doesn't work without it.

Me: I don't want any voice activated device in my home.

Customer service: Then we can't help you.

Me: Wait. So, I've paying for a service for years, I want to continue to receive the same service, I want to continue to pay you money for the same service, and you don't want my money?

Customer service: Yep. Would you like to take a survey after this phone call to let us know if we've been helpful?

Me: Yep.

Great place to start for free TV:

https://troypoint.com/

4K HD Firesticks were only $25 over all of Black Friday.

Follow the guide to load up Cinema HD and any of the other apps recommended (under Best APKs).

I also recommend OTA Antenna if you are anywhere near a major city.  The cable companies want you to forget all about free OTA.

https://winegard.com/hdtv-digital-antennas/outdoor-antennas/

TVFool will help you determine which channels you get and which direction to point the antenna.

On Samsung Plus?

Half dozen news outlets.

Weather Nation

World Poker Tour

Golf Pass

This Old House

Makers Channel

:dunno:

Not sure why you'd take issue.  The free legal stuff shouldn't get your panties in a bunch.

I do.  I have a TV in my office that is always streaming something while I work, usually old 80s movies.  I watch shows with my wife, usually an hour a night.  And then when everyone goes to bed I'll watch something before I go to bed.  Less TV in the summer vs winter.

I’ve found the occasional decent shows on those random free and legal apps.

I liked the show “Sprung” on “Freevee” - it was about people getting released from prison because of Covid and then devising a plan to rob a character based on Nancy Pelosi

I watch a ton of movies, but not TV shows.   It's a rare night I don't watch a movie at night before sleep.

If it's not there already it might because someone didn't sign in with a Samsung account.  Painless, sign up, free.  Otherwise it automatically puts it in the TV guide below all my OTA channels.  The seamless integration is amazing on these things.  Like everything else there is an app to get you there too.

Mostly just busting your balls first, now I am just interested what's on some of those free channels.

I said above I use some free legal channels like Tubi and Kanopy.   Just curious what others had to offer on theirs.

Most of the samsung plus channels are actually Pluto channels.

The reason I made it sound so great is because it's free, and for me unexpected and as I set up my recent (3-4 years ago) smart Samsung the damn thing added all those channels in the tv guide along with all the channels I get OTA and together it was just like basic cable.  All free and legal.  I was like, why the fok would anyone pay for basic cable anymore?

My house is one of those where the TV is on anytime we are home whether we are sitting down to watch something or not.  Yes, a lot of these channels are just rerun loops, but, if you want news scrolling by or great golf shots it's better than having it on the local channel where in a half hour the news is over and you're going to be watching wheel of fortune.  I like the Makers Channel, gives me some good ideas for projects in the shop.  I even catch myself watching Antiques Roadshow with the wife.  She likes finding treasure at estate sales etc. and I have a pretty good handle on what a lot of things are wroth.  I bought two paintings a couple weeks ago.  1 - I really liked both paintings, 2 - I could tell they had been hung in an art gallery at some point and 3 - I got them for less than what the frames are worth - professional multilevel.
