The NFL has canceled the Bills-Bengals game that was previously postponed on Monday night. The league has also planned a vote Friday with two adjustments for the AFC playoffs on the table.

While the NFL's cancellation decision will not impact which teams make the playoffs, it may impact seedings, which is why the league has come up with several potential rule changes to even out the competitive inequities that not playing the game will create.

Under the proposal that will be voted on by owners, the AFC Championship could potentially become a neutral-site game if any of the three following scenarios are met:

  • Scenario 1: If Buffalo and Kansas City both win or both tie in Week 18, then a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
  • Scenario 2: If the Bills and Chiefs both lose in Week 18 and Baltimore wins or ties with the Bengals, then a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
  • Scenario 3: If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati beats Baltimore, then a Bills or Bengals vs. Chiefs championship game would be at a neutral site.

The NFL is also giving the Ravens a chance to possibly host a wild-card game even though Baltimore can't mathematically win the AFC North. Even if the Ravens win on Sunday against the Bengals, that would put them at 11-6, which would still be a half game behind the Cincinnati, who would finish 11-5 with a loss.

Under that scenario, the Ravens wouldn't win the division even though they swept the Bengals AND had a better division record. To fix that problem, the proposal on the table is that the NFL will flip a coin to see who hosts a Ravens-Bengals wild-card game if:

1. The Ravens beat the Bengals on Sunday, and ...
2. If the two teams are scheduled to play each other in the wild-card round.

Both the AFC Championship proposal and the Ravens proposal will be voted on Friday.

Why would the Cheifs vote for any of that. They are getting screwed out of home field advantage.

Skip Bayless, who I personally detest is taking heat for saying they shouldnt have postponed the game due to its importance.

I have to agree.. not sure why people are so soft now.

All those athletes just saw a rare 1 in 243 million event (Como cord)happen in front of them.

Or possibly a less rare 1 in 8,000 event (myocarditis complication) happen.

I know where a gambling man would put his chips.

Oh look more fake news from Mr. Anecdote.

You are comparing the rate of getting myocarditis at all to what you’re claiming is the rate of a complication.  Unless he just got a vaccine dose within the last 2 weeks, that number is much higher.

Let me guess, you believe the death rate from myocarditis is 50% or whatever number was going viral on Facebook?

Just to be safe we should never play football again.

Nah, those are real stats. Not sure why that upsets you. Statistically it was more likely to be a myocarditis complication than commotio cortis

Still hard to believe they didn’t have a protocol set up for something like this. What are they paying Goodell 40 million for, besides shitcanning the owners dirt?

That’s not what you said.  You said it was a 1 in 8,000 chance of being a myocarditis complication.   But that number is the chance of getting myocarditis at all, not getting a complication from it

Joe Mixon says flipping a coin for home field is unfair and ridiculous. Can you image how selfish he is being to say that? He is not thinking of the Bills  CANCEL JOE MIXON!

You think myocarditis isn't a complication of the heart?!?!

It's more common to get a cold, so it was probably that

You think everyone that gets myocarditis will have their heart stop if they get tackled at any point after their diagnosis?

No, but there was a study that shows myocarditis may increase the risk of an adverse cardic event in contact sports. Probably something the NFL needs to start looking at seriously.

So wait, when a guy gets seriously injured playing football it’s stop the presses time. Show concern and keep in mind a young man’s life is on the line. But when someone gets pushed in front of a subway train playing work you’re fear mongering and assured it’s not a big deal. I have that right?

No issue with studying it.  Just pointing out your numbers were wrong.

What are you suggesting, that we shouldn't care about Hamlin?  Or that every time should gets injured in the world, we need to stop and pause and pray for them?

You can care about both.  Not bow  in reverence for one and then claim the other isn’t widespread.

I bet there are a lot of arm-tackles from now on. Nobody wants to catch the shot-induced commotion carditis.

That is now referred to as 'The Teddy Bridgewater Tackle'.

If somebody had a cardiac event at my office and subsequently died, the boss might send everyone home for the day and say a few words the next morning. Then we’d get back to work.

Well that settles it then, we should all live our lives in the exact same manner that we assume MDC's employer would.

Robert Malone said the NFL would have known about any preexisting heart condition.

I don’t know about ANY condition, but considering the mandate and the reports of myocarditis starting with out of Israel, I’d bet they were screening for myocarditis.

Maybe there’s a conspiracy of the NFL hiding myocarditis cases?  But after the concussion lawsuit (good thing there aren’t metal helmets) I think there’s about a 0% chance of that.

Going back to my earlier question which I guess no one has an answer for of “if there’s really an ‘epidemic’ of athletes suddenly collapsing,” wouldn’t we have seen it more in major pro (or even college) sports?

The only logical theory I can think of, if one thinks that’s actually happening (I don’t, at least not at a higher rate than before 2021), is if the majority of US athletes got the J&J.  I have theorized this before (that many could have taken it), mostly just because it was only 1 shot so it was less time needed to get in compliance with the mandate.

It was entirely predictable that a game would have to be stopped after it had started. Poor planning produces piss poor performance
