I’m going to challenge most of this. I’ve read about two dozen books on Soviet history. Russian history was the subject of my college thesis. The Soviets, who took power in 1917, did not know what “gay rights” were. Nor did they swear to protect the rights of ANY minority, only the Proletariat (workers). They claimed, falsely, to be a mass movement; one of their stated goals was to eliminate all minority groups.

I don't care about the topic in the least. All I said was writing a paper in college on any topic makes no one an expert. Unless you write a paper on how to click a pen. Even then some like Rusty would fail that task.

They don’t contradict anything I wrote. The Soviets decriminalized ALL Tsarist laws about sexuality (and almost all Tsarist laws period).They did not, as state policy, support gay rights. They did not support minority rights. They did not gain power by appealing to guilt and personal attacks. Nearly 100% of what Justin asserted, as part of his defense of a prediction of nuclear war, was totally false and demonstrates his total ignorance on the subject. Defend him all you want but it just adds some of his foolishness to you.

His claim was the Bolsheviks played nice with the gays for a short period of time and then turned against them.  Sounds like he has a decent  claim to that assertion. It certainly isn’t him talking out of his ass, given the numerous articles on the subject. If you actually knew about the specific subject he raised  you would have told him why he was wrong, not that he made it up. The articles on it leave the subject, at the very least, up for debate. You didn’t do that. But you learned of  them about 3 minutes after I did, so it’s understandable.
